Today's Blind Items - The Group

A few decades ago, one of the bigger supergroups was comprised entirely of A+ legends. They had at least 5 Top Ten hits in the U.S. and their albums went platinum and multi-platinum internationally. They were working towards another album when one of the members, A, died unexpectedly. A mutual industry acquaintance, B, of one of the other members, C, was approached by D, who was another A list music legend. D was a huge fan of C and really wanted to work with C. D asked B to find out if C and the other bandmembers would let D join the group as a replacement for A. This put B in a very awkward position, all of the members had known each other for years and D really didn’t have a connection with any of the band members. B said he would try to put a word in but knew it would be a no. The group did make another record, without A and without a replacement.
