She (#1) is an Oscar winner/nominee who is known for her abrasive, stuck-up and judgmental attitude. He (#2) is a former teen idol who has all but disappeared.
Over a decade ago, there was a family film (#3) that flew in largely under the radar, but it launched both their careers. It was shortly after this film was released that I corresponded briefly with #1, regarding an art publication she was planning. What breaks my heart looking back is what a sweetheart she used to be, before her politics consumed her. She wrote me a touching letter that I still have to this day.
As for #2, he went on to have a major role on this teen sitcom (#4) you’ve all heard of, one which plastered his face onto every teen girl magazine. I met him shortly after the sitcom ended. He was an absolute gentleman and, unlike #1, he never stopped being nice. Ask any of the hundreds of kids he’s since mentored.
#1 and #2 were close friends until she started to get famous. #2 still reaches out to congratulate her every time she has a birthday, or has a movie out, or wins an award. She never so much as says thank you. She has ghosted him ever since her career surpassed his. She thinks he’s beneath her.
