Speaking of that family-owned studio, a few years back there was an attempt to remake one of their earlier films. They didn’t produce this film - a famous musical family had backed its production - but when the studio picked up the video rights, they hacked it to pieces in order to make it line up with the beliefs of the wealthy religious organization that pulls the studio’s strings, completely breaking its narrative in the process. The director took his name off of it.
Due to its subject matter, the remake attracted the attention of this former child actor who, a decade ago, had a major role in one of this infamous disgraced director’s many superhero films. It also attracted the interest of disadvantaged children's foundations interested in funding it.
The studio had bizarre demands if they were to allow the remake. Police couldn’t carry guns, for instance, and no character under any circumstances could tell a lie. It got so absurd the remake was shelved. With the latest developments regarding the studio, however, it appears the remake may be back on.
