Blind Items Revealed #16 - Reader Blind

A number of decades ago, this colorful sub-genre of film was very popular on another continent.  They were primarily made in one country that gave the sub-genre its name but other countries on the same continent also made these type of films.  They later proved to be very influential on a sub-genre of American film as well.

 There were hundreds of films made that ranged from popular classics (including the work of this A list director whose family member has been in the news a bit the last few years)  to a lot of cheaply made B movies.

At the same time, there was a lucrative underground business in snuff films on this continent -movies of real people, usually young women, being murdered.

The people who made these films found a way to get their product out right under the nose of authorities. Put real murders in the booming sub-genre's films.  The A list director's films of course did not contain murders but many of the b movies that he helped finance behind the scenes did.  He got very wealthy from his dealings with the snuff merchants.

One telling detail - Look at any old lower budget film of this sub-genre and look at some of the actresses who get murdered who are not stars, the ones who get killed earlier in the films.  There is no trace of them anywhere after the films they starred in.

The charitable endeavors of this deceased diminutive singer in a loud genre were well known in his lifetime. All star benefits, charity singles, there is even an indoor event that bears his name that benefits research into the condition that ended his life.

He was known for three bands he was part of - The first was started by one member of an A+ group, the second was him replacing the original singer in an A++ band, and the third was a band that was under his own name.

One story not so well known about the singer had to due with the religion in which he was raised. While he disparaged it in interviews, behind the scenes he often worked with this very large charitable organization affiliated with the religion. One could often find a booth for them at his concerts which was funny considering the type of music he made.

This band had a number of hits a number of decades ago, songs any FM radio listener would know and a number of these songs have appeared in movie soundtracks as well.  Although it is down to a couple main members, they still tour regularly and have recently released their first new music in many years.

This band always had a weird extranormal mythos about them due to their name and iconography, and especially their lyrics. What is interesting about the latter is that while all of the original members of the band contributed to the music, a lot of their earlier lyrics were written by their deceased manager/producer. He also was responsible for much of their look and image.

Any conversation or interview with him would always come back to an experience he had  earlier in his life he claimed to have  been kidnapped by extraterrestrials and they were still giving him messages now on how the band should run.

These two deceased acting veterans played husband and wife on a very popular family TV show a number of decades ago.  The irony is that both were bi-sexual or gay which was pretty well known.  The male actor died during the show's run while the female actor had serious health problems.

The actress lived with another woman all throughout her time on the show. The man had a high profile gay relationship early in his life but was married and had children by the time of the TV show. This didn't stop him from sleeping with several male members of the crew and at least one underaged male cast member.

A number of decades ago, this foreign country had a thriving film industry. Many Hollywood stars who were past their prime or just starting out went there and made films.

This A+ in his prime Oscar nominated/Oscar winning actor was one who made several films in this country including one considered a classic.  Some of his other famous film roles include one in a film that was an adaptation of a work by a Nobel Prize winner and a film late in his career with a family member.

Biographers have noted that those closest to him portrayed the actor as a narcissist and a sociopath.  He really liked very young girls, an interest that only grew as he aged. When in this country, he would often negotiate with parents in poorer areas for him to spend time with their daughters in return for cash. This included at least one girl who was 11 years old.

It was more than a couple of decades ago when this at the time A- list movie actor showed up more than an hour late at a private party for members of a world champion professional sports team at a restaurant owned by a group of then A list actors.  Strangely, he was wearing silk pajamas and was accompanied by a similarly, albeit more scantily, dressed young blonde woman who sat on his lap the entire time. Given his less than major league behavior, to say the pros were unimpressed is an understatement.

This Oscar winning/Oscar nominated A++ in his lifetime actor who could play both toughs and in musicals and who was much imitated was extremely discreet which is why rumors were not so widespread about his private life.

His wife was a long term business partner, his manager much of his career. Their children were not biologically theirs.

The truth was the actor was gay and always kept at least one young man around him as an assistant and when he got older a caregiver. His partner of the moment was always well compensated financially. 

He was the shadow collaborator in a supposedly tell-all biography written in his lifetime.  He did this to head off rumors later in his life about his orientation. In the book, there is described a one night stand with this foreign born Oscar nominated actress who herself told a lot of tall tales about her life.  The story is completely fictional.

It’s a little known fact that this well known B actor, best known for a long time role on a show everybody knows about, had a bit part in this film franchise the everybody also knows. He was a guest at an event for fans of said franchise and I was tasked with keeping an eye on the autograph lines for this actor and another guest.

Along with the other guests at the event, the actor was doing photo op sessions with fans. These sessions are one shot deals - you pay for them and had best be there or you’ve blown your money. It just so happened that an attendee had a photo op with the two most well known guests, one of whom is now deceased and the other is still around, which conflicted with his photo op with the first guest. Naturally, he went for the photo op with the two. The attendee had a personal item which he had all guests there sign for him which he wanted included in his photos of him with the guests. Part of my job of managing the lines was to be the guy who told guests they couldn’t take photos at the guest’s table, but this actor seemed friendly and I figured he might accommodate the attendee’s wish of a shared photo with the guest, so I went ahead and asked, expecting to get shot down citing agreements and such.

Lo and behold, the actor agreed to it and did the photo op with the attendee at his table and talked with him for a few minutes as there were no other guests in line. The actor relayed some stories about his work, answered a few questions, and apologized to the attendee for having a conflicting photo op time despite him having no real control over it.

Many years ago, this actor was pushed into making a very big sacrifice by the studio as well as by those around him.  This was done to save the career of another actor who was embroiled in a potentially career ending scandal. He was very important to the studio. These events are now common knowledge.

The actor who made the sacrifice came from an acting family.  He had a long career everything from second banana in classic comedies and musicals to horror films to Disney films. In his later years, he did a lot of TV.  Also in his later years he was often cast as an angry sputtering old man.

His sacrifice was not without its perks.  For a number of years, those that were grateful would send young starlets to him and he would have sex with them. He slept with several who would later be stars themselves and who are still alive.  Two prominent ones - This star of several successful sitcoms who pitches medical products and this actress who played a famous fictional character on TV. That same character is currently enjoying a film reboot.

A retired FBI agent once told me a case he would like to open is an investigation into the death of this Emmy nominated actor several decades ago.

No one thought anything of it at the time as 1.) The actor had heart surgery in the past 2.) The actor always looked middle aged or older even when he was young.   He starred in both movies and TV. By far, his most successful role was on a popular sitcom where he played the boss of the title character.  This was based on a movie which he was also in.

As a young struggling actor, he had earned money by working as muscle for some very shady people collecting debts etc. They took a liking to him and often invited him for drinks where he was privy to a lot of their conversations.  A few years before his death he started talking to the FBI informally about some things he had seen and heard.  They were close to getting him on record when he died. An autopsy did show some high levels of potentially dangerous substances which were likely administered without the actor’s knowledge.

The terms of the settlement of the second lawsuit lodged against this permanent A++ Oscar winning/Oscar nominated actor/director/producer by his former partner a deceased actress/director were very generous for the plaintiff.

What tipped the scales were telephone recordings as leverage where the A++ actor had been goaded into talking about his military service. He has always talked in a way that made it sound like he’d seen more action than he did. Specifically he admitted to 1.) Using his commanding officer’s daughter whom he was in a relationship with to pull strings so he wasn’t sent to where there was any actual fighting 2.) Freaking out in an embarrassing way far removed from his screen persona during a potentially life threatening incident that ended up not being so bad.  He had to be restrained by others who thought he was behaving hysterically during this.

The story of how this entertainer who is associated with a specific city that is popular for vacationers took offense at being the butt of many of this permanent A+ talks show host’s punchlines is well known.  For a period, he was frequently belittled in the show’s nightly monologues. This all ended when the entertainer, who held a black belt, showed up at the hosts’ s office and let him know he would hurt him physically if this continued.  The host stopped making fun of him immediately.

What is less known is a similar situation the same host had with an actor.  At the time, the actor was known primarily for one thing - Appearing in bad movies.  He was also a severe alcoholic and had run ins with the law. Like the first entertainer, the host started mocking him in his monologues. And also like the first entertainer the actor waited until the host was alone and then confronted him. However, the actor was drunk and known to be violent and ended up not only beating up the host but also violently sodomizing him.  This was covered up by the network although one of the hosts’ ex-wives alluded to it during their civil divorce trial.

This permanent A+ list actor whose most famous film was recently in the news was married to this popular comedic actress.  She died before him.  In the bedroom, they liked to role play and the actress had expressed her desire to act out an intruder rape fantasy and bringing in a third party to play the role of the rapist.

The actor was also turned on by this and found this at the time bit player who later starred as the same villainous character in several low budget genre films before his death.  This actor had a physical condition that affected his appearance and size.

The afflicted actor agreed for payment to act out the intruder role. He climbed in through an unlocked window and had sex with the actress who was very turned on by this. In a nearby closet, the A+ actor watched and pleasured himself.

He was in even more TV shows. Two where he played the lead were a law enforcement show with the character’s name in the title which was a spin-off and a show about transport.  He held a degree from a prestigious university which always surprised those who judged him by his rough and tough appearance.

When he was just starting out, an actress on a film he had a bit part on complained to him about being forced to sleep with the producer. The actor, who was a big, strong guy, gave the producer a  black eye. While this didn’t permanently blacklist him, it did lead to some strings being pulled whenever his name came up keeping him out of the really big roles.

There is an annual event in Tinseltown that is held to raise awareness of and money for the treatment of this condition of the immune system.  Sadly,  the next time this event is held it will be without this prior participant a recently deceased very funny beloved comic actor who was associated with a type of acting that lends itself well to comedy. He was in many films and TV shows over a long career. Two that stand out were this series of films with the same director and loose cast of fellow actors and a cult TV show that ran many decades ago.

This actor had a close family member with this condition and the last couple of decades was very involved with a foundation established for the fight against it. He donated a lot of his time (as well as money) towards this end.  He was very charitable in general and was involved in a lot of other worthwhile causes.

This deceased Emmy winning/ Emmy nominated actor, Oscar nominated actor was A+ at his peak as a result of the title role he played in a popular TV show that also featured a family member in a supporting role.  He was also in many films where he often played villains and was a commercial spokesman.  He cultivated a specific physical detail that was instantly recognizable.

This global body that everyone knows whose headquarters is in the city where the actor’s TV show took place contacted the actor about helping out with a potentially serious international crisis. The actor had worked for the global body before his acting career. This island nation was caught between two bigger nations in a proxy war that killed a lot of people. One of the two bigger nations was the homeland of the actor’s family and he was proud of his roots and often referred to them in the TV series and in interviews.  A group of civilians whose heritage was from this country  were trapped in a war zone on the island nation and needed to be rescued. The actor helped put together a series of airlifts that saved the lives of several thousand people.

This married foreign born actor is A-/B+ list. Like an earlier blind item, he also made his fame from a pay cable show. He has been in this space multiple times because of his ongoing cat and mouse game with a former co-star/mistress. Our actor's wife tries hard on social media to show they are still together and still in love, but he did stay away from her for months on end while she got her biggest television/fame break. He barely paid lip service to supporting her in her efforts or against online trolls who criticized her looks.

Today's Blind Items - He Killed The Show - Old Hollywood

I am calling it Old Hollywood, but the subject of the blind is still alive. Very old, but alive. I always say the first rule of Hollywood is to never leave a hit show. This actor/singer was one of the first to do it and when he left, the show didn't have a chance, and crashed and burned the next year. He will say he left the show because he was sick. Yes, sick from drinking too much, but that isn't the reason. The reason was that he knew, that despite him being the second lead, he was the star of the show. People watched because of him. He wanted a raise that would have made him the highest paid actor of the time, whether in movies or television. The name of the show is also memorialized in song. The producers of the show thought he was bluffing. He wasn't. They thought they could be a hit without him. They were wrong. It limped through the one season without him. They tried to get him to come back during that final season, but he asked for even more money than before, because he knew they were desperate. Not desperate enough to pay him his fee though. So, what happened to our actor? He never had another hit. He worked and worked, but no hits.
