I had a really bad case of the flu in early Feb that people are now telling me may have been Covid, but the closest to me personally is that the owners of the awesome Hawaiian restaurant near me in Seattle both passed away. Very sad for our community.
Thankfully NO...and I really wish I don't know anyone in the future as well! My 2 Doctor friends are posted in COVID ward in Delhi, I check on them & pray for them all the time....
Maybe..but they won't test her (MN)... 12 year old with all the typical symptoms. I know a person on another board that test positive and has lost taste/smell...typical for this virus. There is suppose to be an antibody blood test coming out early next week that will tell a person if they have had it...but won't tell you if you currently have it unless your well into the illness (day 10 or so). This would be nice because you could send people back into society (work/etc) if they have some antibodies that can fight off further exposure to the virus..plus you could use their blood plasma for other people to defeat it (they've done this in China).

Yes, a guy I have worked with and contracted came down with it while traveling on the road. He was one of the early cases in the US. He was lucky and got a local doctor that had read up on China. The doctor prescribed him off label hydroxychloroquine. The drug worked and helped a lot, according to him. He did not stay in the hospital. The doctor just had him hole up in a hotel room and he ordered out for food.
Thank God no. But right now, I've got one cousin who is a radiologist asst., another cousin who just graduated Medical school and is now working in a OBG/YN ward. So I'm hoping they're both okay.
But things will change once we get the anti-bodies test up and running. Not only we'll find more cases, we'll also find out who had it and recovered without even knowing it.

My ex boyfriend just got his diagnosis after being tested last week. He has been sick since March 6th, but is (hopefully) turning a corner as he's breathing much better. He's 44 years old.
Nope. I thought we should have been wading through corpses by this point, given the global reaction. How are African countries coping? You'd think they'd be more or less depopulated by now, given their non western health and hygiene standards, but no, they all seem to be chuntering along as normal. The Wall Street Journal had an article yesterday saying as much as 1 in 3 tests are a false negative, who thinking they are free and clear, infect more people, contributing to the disaster we are living through every day.
@Troy Dyer: Please have your blood tested, as you may have antibodies that you developed if you had COVID-19. Researchers are looking for people that have the antibodies to this, so they can develop a vaccine.
My partner's workplace covered up his colleague's Covid diagnosis & now my partner has been unwell for 2 days not realising he'd been exposed. We were already isolating by choice (I quit my job) for the past few weeks as I'm pregnant, due in September, take immune lowering drugs for my MS & frequently have pneumonia so I'm probably really fucked.
Mayo Clinic developed a test for it over a week ago but the FDA wouldn't let them use it because Dump wanted his BFFs to make all the money off of the testing.
My husband is an ER doctor and has treated a lot of patients with it in the last several weeks.
No other patients are coming into the ER other than those with respiratory infections. His company sent a letter out this week that said he will be losing 25 percent of his pay until this situation resolves and the number of patients coming in picks up.
Hows that for a slap in the face? Near constant exposure for him and our family. Less pay.
I know a lot of people in NYC who have or have had it. None of them are in the statistics. Makes you wonder how many cases of it there already are. BTW, every one I know who has it says it somewhere between a cold and a bad flu.
My husbands sister and her husband think they had it. I think my sister (a healthcare worker) had it, but they wouldn't test her. The more I talk to people here in California, we're pretty sure a lot of people already had this in January.
Yes...a friend's father and mother both, her mother recovered but her dad passed away last week :( He was in ICU for 2 weeks and her mom was quarantined at home. So I don't think they even got to say goodbye.
Another friend and her husband are positive and quarantined at home. Both were having a tough time. But she is feeling better at Day 8 and her husband is struggling. She is mid 30s and healthy, her husband is early 40s w/ heart issues :(
My aunt believes she may have had it back in December, after returning from a river cruise visiting Christmas markets in Germany for 2 weeks. She says she had the exact same symptoms but tested negative for flu.
Like Troy, I was very sick in early February and had many of the distinguishing characteristics of the disease. I didn't go to the doctor, just laid around drinking a lot of electrolyte water. It was mostly gone in a month.
My 95 yo mother-in-law, G., had it. She had been in the hospital for about 1 week. Then, on March 19th, G was treated with hydroxychloraquine + Azithromycin She released from the hospital on March 23rd.
If anyone knows someone with Covid 19, have them tell their doc that they want to try this drug protocol.
Yes, my husband's business partner in Luxembourg. LUX has closed its borders to all except its citizens. The thing was, that their daughter was studying in Miami, and caught the last flight out before direct flights between the US/BEL ended (because our borders are also pretty much closed. You have to have a serious reason to be able to depart or enter BEL at this time or you will be fined 4K euros.) So his daughter arrived, and because he had just fallen ill, he was quarantined and her mother picked her up. Now they are all in quarantine, but he's the only one who tested positive (so far). They are relying upon other family members to do their weekly shopping for them. He has been too ill to work (IT) for the past 9 days. Luckily, he is being paid for being off work. LUX has a safety net for their citizens.
Here, we had a case last weekend of a 12 year old child who died in Ghent. That's in the Flemish part of the country, and everyone who speaks Flemish, also speaks English. The child's mother spoke English. The family was from Ghana. She called the doctor, who told her that her child just had allergies. The child became more ill, and the mother called the ambulance. They never showed up. The child was found dead in her bed a day or two after that. The mayor of that city is leading the investigation over why, when everyone speaks English there, they did not respond appropriately to the mother's request for an ambulance, and multiple calls to the doctor for medical assistance. She even called Urgent Care at the hospital and was not assisted. I am really disgusted about that!
Yes. The father of a co-worker tested positive, is currently hospitalized on oxygen and antibiotics. CT scan showed pneumonia, typical in Covid-19. The rest of the family was denied testing. They are confined to home.
Yes, a co-worker and their spouse caught it on an out of state trip. They returned to work for 3 days before feeling sick. My work closed for a week, and then we found out one other co-worker caught it. Luckily they are both doing well. The second person was compromised.
Yes. Two supervisors at work who I know, like, and se frequently both tested positive. I really hope they will be ok and will not experience any pain. I work for MTA in NYC and I feel like a sitting duck for this thing. I'm expecting to get it at some point.
Yes, my father in law just died this week at a hospital in Paris. They lost his body at one point, and he was cremated in a mass cremation of several other people. This has devastated my kids (age17-22) to think their Papa was treated that way. On the other hand, it has also shown them the seriousness of what is happening, and made them adhere to the stay home orders (unlike many other teens and young adults).
Unknown, I am so sorry to hear this. How terrible for you all. Belgium has not been hit nearly as badly as France has been hit. You and your family have my best wishes for getting through this chaotic and traumatic time.

A friend of a very good friend of mine passed away from it yesterday. He was only 41, healthy and worked in one of the first responders teams.

Yes, I currently have it but am over the worst now thankfully. I’m immunosuppressed, so it’s been a rocky ride.
