No. And the real question is, will there be a 2020/2021 season? Answer is no after the second wave begins in the fall. Will anyone buy season's tickets when there's a good chance the season will get cancelled, and will the teams give a refund, let alone a discount for existing seasons ticket holders? Same goes for ski companies like Vail and Alterra, who wants to drop a grand on a seasons pass when the cancelled the previous year? And what bank would want to carry those companies. Same can be said for TV and Film production. Tricky time to be an entertainment insurance adjuster.
Someone needs to tell Blind Gossip April Fools Day has been cancelled. I’m not buying that blind alleging Prince Andrew is baby Archie’s biological child & Meghan was actually pregnant.
I think they'll end up having to scrap both... by the time they get some practice happening as teams after isolating, theyll end up finishing finals too close to the preseason of next year. Baseball is hoping to start on 4th of July
Basketball players live for the summer months off. Their bodies heal from being hammered night after night. The NBA is holding games made up of players from various teams. It's a weekend sort of thing which actually sounds fun.
The NBA has an opportunity to let the players who have been injured recover. It would be nice to see a season without players already sitting on the bench in street clothes.
Same for NHL. Those guys get jacked up during the season.
no way. and I think ppl are being way too optimistic about this....the whole year is gonna be shut down. movie theatres, some stores, the whole sports realm...they wont even make a true comeback financially and otherwise until probably early 2021, closer to when theres a universal vaccine.
the ONLY other way to get back to normal faster in society/business/recreatiinal stuff is mass testing, everybody in this fucking country should be able to get tested. thats the only way we can go back to whats left of normal and pick up the pieces...by those who dont have it knowing/being able to prove it with the test results...or ppl who have recovered that have antibodies...
the usa touts itself as a huge first world blah blah strong country but our national STOCKPILE, is almost gone. completely. we put more into our military than we do for american healthcare/dr/nurses. and now ppl will die bc of that hubris. this country has become a joke in terms of claiming its one thing and being totally worse. there are low income areas in AFRICA that have better medical support than us. we are one of the ONLY first world countries where ppl have to choose between going broke, or dying, or losing a limb.
and now we're about to see it all explode.
100-200,000 is an underestimate. At least 500,000 to half a million ppl with die EVEN if we do an excellent job. ppl did the math earlier on but its so depressing it stopped being reported. the worst cast scenario is 2 million die and 10% of the worlds population dies.
No
ReplyDeletenope. not until fouchi and birx signal the all clear.
ReplyDeleteNo. Patiently waiting for baseball :)
ReplyDeleteAnd I think the MLB season will not start.
ReplyDeleteNBA definitely. NHL maybe depending on when they can start, because they are willing to finish in August if necessary.
ReplyDeleteThe NBA has turned into an awful product so good riddance. That's sucks for the NHL though.
ReplyDeleteNo.
ReplyDeleteNope.Toronto Medical Officer just said measures may need to be in place for 12 more weeks...
ReplyDeleteUS is waay behind Canada in this too.
No, and don't care. Looking forward to football.

ReplyDeleteFYI: I stopped watching the NBA years ago when the Doctor said 45 year old men have heart attacks trying to relive their youth.
He then started naming off basketball players that did die of heart attacks!
I did watch the Las Vegas Golden Knights every now and then.
But, No. The seasons are over.
And, I'm pretty sure baseball is done, too!
No for NBA, possibly no for NHL.
ReplyDeleteAbbreviated season for MLB maybe?
Don't' know don't care.

Blind gossip puts out the absolute worst ridiculousness for April fool's.
DeleteThey will publish the reveal tomorrow

I hope not, this is great with no sports pre-empting my regular TV shows and always hijacking the nightly news!

Maybe 2020-2021.
Wimbledon, which I always associate with end of June-July, got cancelled.

ReplyDeleteWe are 18 months away from a vaccine. Until then, this is our new normal.

I've worked for teams in all 3 leagues - NBA, NHL & MLB. NBA & NHL will scrap the season. MLB will pick up play as if it's post All-Star game.
ReplyDeleteNo, and i think its amazing how unimportant that seems to all of us now.
ReplyDeleteI don't care.
