With all of the controversy about the singing of a certain song by celebrities, I was also shocked by how many people thing the person who sang it was some kind of saint. There was a recent movie that made it seem as if he were too. The foreign born permanent A list singer was a serial woman beater and even admitted he had never been in a relationship where he didn't beat the women he was with on a regular basis. He also beat his kids. Not a spanking, but full on hitting them. He was a serial cheater who took advantage of every opportunity that came his way. The first wife got cheated on with the woman who became the second wife who watched helplessly as he had a years long affair while also sleeping with other woman. When the wife would say something about it, he would beat her.
Imagine and John Lennon
ReplyDeleteLennon was a grade A asshole. Funny how history has been re_written
ReplyDeleteJohn Lennon,Cynthia Lennon, Yoko Ono
ReplyDeleteWhich is why yoko had her connections to mk ultra and had John put down. I beatle could never be a woman beater. Good for you MDC
ReplyDeleteNooo....
ReplyDeleteEt Tu Lennon!
Karma does strike back!
Yay.....
Easy. John Lennon. You could have made it more vague. And even added more to it,like being a major hypocrite regarding money, etc.
ReplyDeleteYoko got so fed up she choose his long-term mistress for him, she didnt watch helplessly. They both used that girl
ReplyDeleteThe way John treated his son Julian was disgraceful, and forever impacted my viewpoint of him as an individual.
ReplyDeleteHonestly, he has always seemed like one of the typical holier-than-thou celeb elitists. If he were still alive, I feel like he'd be of the set who calls for swift environmental preservation action, but then jetsets private all over the globe.
What you call spanking I call a beating.
ReplyDeletePeople shouldn't hit their kids. Actually, people shouldn't hit.
Like Daniel Tiger says "It's okay to be angry but it's not okay to hit"
dooo da doooo dooo Doo daa daaa daaa daaaa
No, just give the kid a cell phone filled with mindless games and keep ol' reliable 💊💊 handy just in case.
ReplyDeleteBullshit. If you read Cynthia Lennon's book about John she says he hit her exactly once and never again after then and she was 18 when it happened.
ReplyDeleteAlmost all of this is commonly available information. Also, John Lennon basically married Cynthia because she became pregnant after a one-night stand, and he had an image to protect, but he never really cared for her. They didn't have a sane relationship, and he had a ton of affairs with groupies (and developed an heroin habit) long before meeting Yoko.
ReplyDeleteThe end of the blind item is mostly invention. When Lennon had his "lost weekend" in the seventies and was on a break from Yoko, he dated their personal assistant, May Pang, who was actually "approved" by Yoko and would regularly report to her. Yoko kept an eye on him from afar, because, left on his own, Lennon was self-destructive and tended to take refuge in booze or drugs. That's why Yoko was the "right match" for him, regardless of her musical abilities. She wasn't impressed at all by his fame or his status, she could be very authoritative with him and that was something he needed. That's why he ultimately stuck with her, while he could have easily married someone prettier, younger, etc.
Cool essay.
ReplyDeleteI think you are all off base. I think it's Bill Withers.
ReplyDeleteBill Withers not foreign born.
ReplyDelete@Angela is completely wrong , John and Cynthia went to art school together, dated off and on, before he was famous. He did marry her when she was pregnant, but she was hardly a one night stand. He cheated on her, like so many others do,when success went to his head. Of course he married very young. She only claimed the one beating, but the drug and alcohol beatings of Yoko were well known. They at one time were both heavily into drugs. John had sobered up with the help of May Pang, who also tried to reconcile him with Julian. I always felt bad about how the public thought about her, people who know her have nothing but praise for her. John had an unhealthy relationship with Yoko, as he looked to her as a "Mommy"figure, not a lover or equal. And yes,Yoko loved being famous, and being able to put out music and art because she married someone famous.
ReplyDeletelol.
ReplyDeleteWell known that John Lennon was human garbage. Also well known that Yoko picked his whore.
ReplyDeletegreat guest on Bill Withers. heard he was a beater.
ReplyDeleteRingo's gonna outlive them all.
ReplyDeleteGlad to make you lol, Tricia. That shows you're still sober enough to type at this hour, and you should be proud of yourself.
ReplyDeleteJohn Lennon, Cynthia, Yoko and May Pang...whom he was with much more than dated.
ReplyDelete******** SPOILER and UNSOLICITED OPINION AHEAD*****
Movie being referred to is Yesterday, which I enjoyed overall, though I actually found the bit with Lennon jarring and off-puttingly unnecessary, even within the fantastical context of the greater movie.
Not human garbage; just human. And he was brutally honest about his own failings. He and Yoko both had major issues, esp with drug use. His marriage to Cynthia was when he was very young and long before viewing women as equals in general was the norm. I do hate that stupid Imagine song, though.
ReplyDeleteBeat yer wife and kid, then abandon them, yer human garbage. Booze & Drugs are not an excuse. The world was a better place after that mental patient air holed him.
ReplyDeleteThat's not even a blind item. Public knowledge for many decades
ReplyDeleteDouble 😂 lol. Still
ReplyDeleteSober. Just laughing harder 😂😂😂😂
Jebus, is "Angela" Derek too?
ReplyDeleteMais Non!! Eees a freench maan qui habite (sorry), who
ReplyDeleteLeeeves in La 🇫🇷 Fraaance. You deed not know theees?
😂🙃😏
God you sound stupid. Shut up already.
DeleteIs anybody actually stupid enough to buy into the bullshit about Lennon being some sort of saint?
ReplyDeleteHe was an overrated and abusive POS.
I can't stand Lennon for the way he treated Julian. I had no idea he was a woman beater. I wonder if the shooter was actually a hitman? Maybe Tarantino should explore that alternate ending a la Once Upon a Time in HW or Inglorious Basterds.
ReplyDeleteHi Trish, I admire how you refuse to let the nonsense get to you. You must be kind of heart and gentle of spirit. All my love and respect. Hang tough. WWG1WGA.
ReplyDeleteback at ya PhillyWhilly. Spiritual lightweights give me the giggles tbh.
ReplyDeleteWWG1WGA:)
He and his friends ruined a generation.
ReplyDeleteSuch total bullshit. Enty's a plant. John Lennon was murdered by the CIA and they're still trying to murder him with slander. Read the Pete Shotton book on John Lennon or ANY book by people who actually knew and you'll get a much different picture than the Goldman-type sham jobs.

ReplyDeleteJohn Lennon's mother was bipolar and most likely he was, also. Yoko was on her 2nd marriage when she met him. She and her husband needed money to continue their "art." She went after Paul first, and was rejected. Next she set her sights on John. He found something in her that he obviously needed. However, he very publicly cheated on Yoko.
ReplyDeleteBest story about the arsehole Lennon was that he and Harry Nilsson were out in some bar in New York getting wasted on Brandy Alexanders no doubt along with other substances.
ReplyDeleteThey thought it a merry lark to walk about with sanitary towels stuck to their foreheads because, well, it's funny innit.
Their behaviour became so boorish that even the clubs management had too much of two of the world's biggest rock legends pissing off the other clientele, so, in a rather cowardly fashion, they dispatched a lowly waitress to tell the two budding Oscar Wildes to leave.
Lennon, affronted by being told to scram by a wee slip of a lass, pulled the big bejesus man routine of, "Do you know who I am?!"
"Yes I do," replied the waitress, " You're a fucking asshole with a Kotex stuck to your face."
Lennon’s image was whitewashed by the press the same way Elvis’s was.
ReplyDeleteEven in the 60's he was known as a jerk
ReplyDelete@Flashy Vic thank you for that story. I hope the waitress did say that. I can't stand lennon. don't forget in the beatles mick take comedy 'the Rutles' John is renamed 'nasty'. that says it all. And george harrison had a cameo in it as he thought it was hilarious. Obviously George didn't disagree with Lennon being regarded as nasty.
ReplyDeleteJohn Lennon, "A list"?
ReplyDeleteShouldn't that be at least "A++"?
Lennon was such a sexist, misogynistic abuser. I'm lucky to know a Hispanic singer that knocked him out on a joint-tour after Lennon threw a drink in this guy's face just because he was drunk and fucked up.
