This alliterate actress was foreign born. She was A list at her peak and was a multiple Oscar winner/nominee. She was amazing at fake relationships and often was willing to be known as a woman who slept around with lots of actors at a time where it was best to be known as monogamous. She supposedly had an ongoing thing with this A list actor who starred in that war time period piece that is still beloved by so many. Our actress was married a couple of times and even let the gossip columnists think she had an abortion to keep her story going. After she passed away, any writer that came snooping around was introduced to the woman who was her companion the final two decades of life. This female companion has made it her mission to make sure that authors never refer to the actress as gay. She will say things like the actress never slept with a female in her life which is total crap. The problem is there is no one left alive to dispute the fact.
Cary Grant for the actor?

ReplyDeleteIt's kind of sad to think...
ReplyDeleteGone with the wind gal
DeleteVivienne Leigh? Oooo intriguing guess Indie.
DeleteColbert has a quite a few women on her "who's dated who" page
ReplyDeleteAlso Colbert starred with Gable in the classic It Happened One Night
ReplyDeleteThe Claudette Colbert guess seems likely, + Tricia13.

ReplyDeleteThis is rather sad
ReplyDeleteColbert seems to fit. https://www.vanityfair.com/hollywood/2010/04/a-perfect-star-199801
ReplyDeleteMaybe She was bisexual
ReplyDeleteI love It Happened One Night! I think I saw that TCM is showing it soon.
ReplyDeleteI love to read these stories of the Old Hollywood crowd.
Hatharine Hepburn. Katharine was just the stage name.
ReplyDeleteHilarious
DeleteA friend worked in France for the state dept post WW II told me she met Marlene Dietrich at gov't functions several times and it was widely known she was bisexual.
ReplyDeleteJed's Friend: Dietrich slept with almost every male that she met, John Wayne, Jimmy Steward, George Patton, Slim Jim Gavin, and Gary Cooper.
ReplyDeleteThe story is that she asked Cooper if he wanted to have sex with her, and he said "Yep."
The only thing that came to mind is MASH for the war time period piece...bwahahahahahahahahaha. I suck, but appreciate y'all guessing to keep me interested :)
ReplyDeleteGordon-- That made me guffaw!😂
ReplyDeleteColbert sounds right TR
ReplyDeleteThe hitchhiking scene in “It Happened One Night” with Claudette Colbert & Clark Gable is amazing! If you need a smile, or are just curious, it’s definitely worth a peek.
ReplyDeleteClaudette Colbert had a female partner when she died.
ReplyDeleteClaudette colbert was the first one that came to my mind.
ReplyDeleteIt's not uncommon for previously married older women to play for the home team after they've had male relationships. Women get to an age where they don't want to take care of needy man-boys. And, most men are pretty damn needy/self-involved/bossy and/or are emotionally somewhere between 8 and 13 years of age. Truth.
ReplyDeleteMarilyn Monroe
ReplyDeleteClaudette Colbert and Jennifer Jones were both in a WWII film called “Since you went away”.
ReplyDeleteGreer Garson was born in London.
ReplyDeleteThought it has been fairly well-known that Colbert was at least bisexual.
ReplyDeleteAccording to a medically trained relative who used to party in those circles, Vivien Leigh was Bipolar and incredibly hypersexual in her manic phases. It caused major problems for Lawrence Olivier, who adored her.
ReplyDeleteTBH, i don't think Marlene Dietrich, or Clatk Gable, or Cary Grant, or Katherine Hepburn or Vivienne Leigh could be considered jus" A List"..if anything, they are PERMANENT A List
ReplyDeleteI think Claudette Colbert:she was big, at times, but not like Hepburn, or Dietrich
Gsa Gsa Gabor
