A whole new press tour for a whole new movie with dozens upon dozens of interviews to give and somehow this A- list actress who also has a hit streaming show was once again not asked one question about the cult to which she belongs. Reporters were told in advance not to or they would lose their access to other press events for other movies.

ReplyDeleteWhy would anyone pay to see her in a movie?
ReplyDeleteUnappealing as hell.
Scio is pretty powerful because I have never gotten her appeal.
ReplyDelete@J I agree--she built her rep off her work in "Mad Men" which imo was no better than anyone else on the show
ReplyDeleteAnd now we're stuck with her
EM is a stellar actress but why Scio?;what issues does she have to cling to that cult? Still like enjoy her craft as long as she does not preach
ReplyDeleteA press junket usually consists for a journalist of five minutes with every lead actor in a movie, and at most three or four questions at them, with an assistant who approves of the question and gets you out as sound as the clock reaches 5'01".
ReplyDeleteThis has never been the place for an articulated conversation over serious topics. Promotion for a movie has always served one purpose: promoting the actual movie.
i'd like to not like her, but she is an incredible actress. there are episodes of 'handmaid's tale' that are literally almost nothing but her face----she's amazing. it's just so weird to me she's in this crazy cult, and stars in that particular show.
ReplyDeleteI wasn't that impressed with it. Not really a big fan of Scientologist actors.
ReplyDeleteBut she has a better career than Jon Hamm. Which I think is hilarious
ReplyDeleteshe must've been involved in some cult ritual that disfigured her face. that face is fugly fugly
ReplyDelete@Marie, yeah, interesting point. it seems very hard to move on from an iconic, larger than life role. especially when played to precision.
ReplyDeleteShe is an amazing actress.
ReplyDeleteI wondered about her appeal myself until I saw her in action.
She is gorgeous because of her excellence & authenticity. EM goes "all in" in every role she plays.
I have never seen an episide of mad men; but her work in The Seagull, The one with Holly Hunter & rockstar movie along with the HMT were nothing short of fantastic.
She deserves all the accolades. Most times true beauty is internal & the force is strong with this one.
The Scio she keeps quiet about & I appreciate that about her as well. Do as thou wilt, etc...
Did anyone see Invisible Man? The trailer did look pretty good in a creepy way.
ReplyDeleteThe real “ journalists” right! They are all celebrity/ political ho ho now
ReplyDeletei haven't seen the invisible man yet. but i also haven't seen the invisible woman. or, as she's also known, shelly miscavige
ReplyDeletehere here!
DeleteGreat presser question: when preparing for this role in the Invisible Man , did you consult with the Invisible Woman to get achieve your authenticity in the role of an abused woman?
ReplyDeletepretty sure elisabeth moss was born into it. keep in mind that they hold blackmail material often for keeping ppl to stay. .her and traviolta,
ReplyDeletecloseted. but travoltas dirty laundry being aired would be more seismic, hes more famous
Good. It's inappropriate to harass actors about their personal lives on a press junket. Moss didn't form Scientology, she isn't writing the bylaws. Go after the people who run it. Or does Enty also feel that Catholic politicians should be pressured at press conferences about their faith based on what the priests have done?
ReplyDeleteMoss. What an unappealing actress.
ReplyDeleteAgree with J.
ReplyDelete100%!!
So, is the cult a religion? Is so, it's ok to ask an actress about being jewish, catholic, protestant, muslim, etc but not scientology?? I find it hard to believe that there is not a single real journalist with integrity who will step forward an be a real journalist. This is exactly why people hate Hollywood, and hate the press.
ReplyDeleteI watched The Invisible Man and actually enjoyed it more than I thought I would. Maybe she related to the fear because she just channeled how she would feel if she ever tried to leave the cult.
