I respectfully disagree. As any parents knows, you can do thousands of things right and you can still have a very damaged child/ young adult.
DeleteCelebrities can have mentally unstable children just like the rest of the world. It's no indication of harm from the parents, and the daughter in this case has said as much. She's never blamed them. The girl is an adult and it's always a tricky situation with famous parents. I'm sure they tried to shield her growing up. I didn't even know anything about her until the declaration of becoming a porn actress.

According to another site, she is a bipoplar, mentally ill train wreck. That makes a LOT of sense, IMO.

ReplyDeleteWhy have neither parent addressed the grooming/sex abuse claims? If they knew of it at the time, they should have been outraged. If they are only finding out about it now, they should be outraged. If they don't believe her (sorry, but I'd never doubt one of my children if they made such a claim until it was proven otherwise), they should say so. Instead all they did was say they were "embarrassed" and "concerned." It doesn't add up.

ReplyDeleteAw yikes that's really awful. I was a troubled teen myself and my poor mother, I put her through hell but she really really tried to help me. Thankfully I turned out okay, largely because my mom always always loved me. Tough times.
I think it could be reasonably assumed the Spielbergs may have adopted her out of a bad home (?) because perhaps she was (I don't know) a toddler in an abusive dangerous household (again I don't know) but such origins can really screw someone up for the long run.

ReplyDeleteWhat bothers me is that if you adopt a child that had at best a “troubled” childhood, you need to put in the time to be a parent! This is not a situation where they buy a newborn, this is a child that went through things I don’t want to imagine. Sending her to a boarding school is taking the rich parent way out!

But if you as a parent just found out your adult child (adopted or not) is claiming in interviews she was sexually abused from a very young age, wouldn't you be shocked, outraged, finding out who/what/when/where and seeing if there is a statute of limitations that would prevent you from helping him/her seek justice? I know I would. Instead, they are just embarrassed and concerned.

Yea, she’s dealing w/stuff undoubtably but in this case, SS just laying the groundwork to discredit her just in case she starts to talk about SS & his Grandpa/little girl...thing.

Story read she is also borderline personality disorder, which is even more difficult to treat than bipolar. BPDs are extremely attached to their victimhood and are also vindictive. They rile you up and just keep cranking and pressing those buttons till you inexplicably blow, which is their desired response. Her story might not even be real. She could just be acting out in that BPD way to punish Mom and Dad. Thus “concerning.”
