Blind Items Revealed #4

December 16, 2019

This A-/B+ list mostly movie actor who is about to have a birthday is continuing his not so nice behavior to reporters while promoting his latest movie. Considering the uphill challenge the movie faces, it would have been nice for him to do a 180 when it comes to things like being nice.

Timothée Chalamet/"Little Women"

  1. Maybe he has extra bad periods every month?

  2. He needs to come sit by me. We'll work on his attitude.

  3. Son of privilege with an attitude problem? never saw that before.

  4. We need to be reminded every time that he is not nice. With everyone else,we already know.

  5. I loved the movie and he was really good in it. Looks like he did all the promo work at least.

  6. Which of the little women does he play?? Love the woke casting and really think he can pull it off.

  7. "Considering the uphill challenge the movie faces"

The "uphill challenge" was all blind items put here that implied that the film wasn't interesting outside of Saoirse Ronan's performance and that it would flop, despite the liberal critics in awe of Meryl Streep and feminism doing their best to promote it.

What we have instead is a domestic box office of $65M so far, on a $40M budget, with most of the foreign markets still to come. Rotten Tomatoes audience score: 92%. Cinemascore: A-. And it's actually quite a fine film, with a great ensemble cast and some good ideas to undermine the sappiness of the source material.
But at least Enty has appealed to his target audience...

  8. I thought it was the best adaptation of the novel by far, and Florence Pugh made me love Amy, which I didn't think would ever happen. But I'm a book nerd, so probably going against the grain : )

Well put. Basically what I came here to say.

  10. @ Dena, I think Florence Pugh can make anybody love anything. She is a treasure!

  11. Little Women and Bombshell were competing for the same target audience. Bombshell bombed and a lot of the same audience preferred to see Little Women. It was a Holiday film that grandmothers, mothers and grand/daughters could see together that was uplifting.

I refuse to see it because of Meryl Streep (and her support of abusers her "god HW" and love of Polanski), but, happy for those who liked it. Pride and Prejudice with Keira is one of my go tos.

  12. What uphill battle?

You're really a riot! Little Women is rated PG (not PG-13, regular PG), while Bombshell is rated R. Same target audience, really?

    An imaginary uphill battle...

    August 14 (revealed August 22)
"I think everyone was actually shocked this foreign born former A list teen actress turned A-/B+ list adult actress got another big movie role. She is not that great of an actress and gives horrible interviews during press for movies. She is fast becoming to movies what Alicia Silverstone is to television shows."
    https://www.crazydaysandnights.net/2019/08/blind-item-13_14.html

December 9 (revealed on December 21): Emma Watson is a diva and refused to be on the press tour for Little Women because she didn't get enough perks. What a bitch!
    https://www.crazydaysandnights.net/2019/12/blind-item-8_9.html
(If she "gives horrible interviews", why complain that she's left the press tour, by the way?)

December 11 (not revealed but transparent enough):
"I told you several weeks ago that all the buzz for that latest reincarnation of the book turned movie was all self generated buzz. Two big award nomination days and one lonely acting nomination out there and that is only because she makes a point to hit up every event they have during the year, is a very good actress, and they think she was born overseas."
    https://www.crazydaysandnights.net/2019/12/blind-item-11_11.html
(Little Women screened very late for reviews and guilds, which was the commonly advanced explanation for the few nominations it got for the Golden Globes and the SAG Awards. Also remember that when the GGs gave The Irishman several nominations, Enty accused them of being bought.)

And I guess that I've missed a few ones, as I just browsed through AGCWebpages.
Basically, Enty's BIs are tailor-made to please the tastes of a few alcoholic housewives who hate Meryl Streep or Emma Watson (or Robert De Niro). Hence his campaign about "Little Women" being a certified turkey, additionally torpedoed by the biggest name in its credits.

  15. LMAO @ANgela...you are a bitter riot!!

The target audience for both are WOIMEN. Ugh. There are articles comparing the two and audience break downs. Try reading. . Of course, being R Bombshell was not going to bring in the same numbers as Little Women, but, their target audiences: WOMEN would overlap and women over 18 would have to choose between during the Holidays between the 2 movies.

Sorry, I am not sorry, Bombshell BOMBED! haha no wonder you are pissed. People are not buying what you and your party sells.

  16. Enty, you've been bitching non-stop about Little Women from the get-go, but by all accounts the movie is doing just fine. What is your problem?

Are you aware of the fact that "WOIMEN" make up around half the humanity, and thus half the audience of most films? That it's a crowd wide enough not to make generalizations about what "WOIMEN" are supposed to enjoy, because there's much diversity in that particular "group"?
And can you provide links to the articles comparing the respective box office performance of "Little Women" and "Bombshell"?

You also make the same assumption about liberals praying en masse for "Bombshell" to be a hit, and being angered that it flopped. For the record, critics from sites and publications you'd call "liberal" were very lukewarm about it. I haven't seen it, it's still not released in my home country, and I have no particular plans to see it so far. However, I've seen Vice (the Dick Cheney biopic) a few months ago, and found it heavy-handed and pointless, while I had enjoyed all the previous films by the same director.

Likewise, I wouldn't assume that it's the same "target audience" for Clint Eastwood and for Dinesh D'Souza, two directors I would never try to lump together just because they're both conservatives.

    @angela

WE don't have to like your film.
I won't be seeing this little remake. I dislike both Streep and that Timothee creature.
I am a life long devotee of THE Little Women of `94, starring THE Winona Ryder, Christian Bale, Susan Sarandon, Kirsten Dunst...for which Winona was OSCAR nominated, in her stunning and luminous portrayal of Jo March.
The entire 1994 film, and its stirring score, is a subtle masterpiece which will be a classic for decades to come.
The final scene, as Winona runs down the muddy lane to catch Professor Baehr before he boards a train....
Professor: "But I have nothing to offer. My hands are empty."
Jo, taking his hand in hers, in the rain. "Not anymore."
    That. Is. Cinema.

  20. How many times are they going to remake this movie?

There was really no need to re-make Little Women after the 1994 version. It was just done to rewrite it to be "woke".

  22. @Angela: "still not released in my home country." Gotcha. You gave yourself away, darling.

If you want to doxx me, I've never hidden the fact that I'm French. Or male.
Come on! That just narrows the possibilities to 30 million people.

  24. I would Never EVER EVER EVER... dox someone in general or on a stupid gossip website.

Seems evil and vindictive to me.

And, Now I just feel sad. I feel like you want us to care and give you attention. And, I will not ignore a cry for help...so...what's up?

Currently, I just woke up (in the morning), I Have a family member's birthday this weekend. So, yah. I am excited. And, you?

  25. I'm taking three boys to the movies. We're hesitating between Star Wars and Uncut Gems. We're all MEN, so that's the same target audience for both movies.

    ReplyDelete
  26. Well, you know what, that should be fun! :p

  27. My two cents (probably worth less than two pesos) but here goes!
I think every version of "Little Women" has something to enjoy and something to question. The first one with Katherine Hepburn as a inspiring, thinking, warmhearted Jo-- probably most close to the source material but Professor Bhaer was old and stodgy, the relationship did not make sense and the performances surrounding Hepburn seem dated. The next Old Hollywood Stars version with a spirited June Allyson who was very good but lacked nuance... It boasts Mary Astor as Marmee, Peter Lawford, Liz Taylor as a particular bratty Amy, Janet Leigh and heartbreaking Margaret O'Brian as Beth--plus Rossano Brazzi as Professor Bhaer, not stodgy!
Since many people hadn't seen the other versions the New Hollywood Stars version with Winona Ryder is a "first exposure to the material" favorite, and the supporting cast with Dunst, Sarandon, Clair Danes as a sweet Beth, Mathis, Stolz, the iconic Mary Wickes as Aunt March, Gabriel Byrne as Bhaer, and a lovely Christian Bale as Laurie is beautifully lensed and very faithful without having anything new to say (so hard for some audiences to absorb). Someone mentioned this version as having the last scene as an example of "That Is Cinema"
Of course that same scene is in EVERY version including the newest--it is ALL cinema!
Greta Gerwig has done a special trick taking the source, keeping the spirit, re-engineering the story, shooting it like a fine painting while making it seem more contemporary than ever. This new version is smart, bright, relevant, beautifully paced and composed. A great example of not needing to do the same thing over and over, she has made an old story new again.

  28. The movie stank. Anyone who says otherwise has never watched the Hepburn/Liz Taylor version.

    ReplyDelete
  29. Don't make ignorant comments--get your facts straight. The 1933 Hepburn version doesn't have Liz Taylor, Taylor played Amy 16 years later in the 1949 June Allyson version. Of course many of us have watched all versions, and prefer to keep an open mind while enjoying a fresh adaptation. Sorry you couldn't join us.

  30. I still don't have a solid proof of this guy being rude. I don't know him and I can't put my hands on fire to bet that, but if I were him, I would be pissed with media by the many times they have asked me about fucking a peach and how in love I'm with Armie Hammer. I've seen a couple of interviews where the so-called journalists are cringey and extremely annoying, and if that is what they leave on the air I have to wonder what did they leave out
