Blind Item #9 - Reader Blind - Kindness
If you were a celebrity visiting Detroit in the early 1980’s, this restaurant was the place to be if you wanted to hob-nob with other local and visiting celebrities. To some employees, the closest they ever came to the famous guests was parking their cars. One night, an employee mentioned to this two-time Oscar winner how popular he was with all of the car-parks. He responded by taking the time to visit them in their shack, signing autographs and even performing a dance from his most famous role.
Tom Cruise?/Risky Business dance?
ReplyDeleteYeah right he won the Oscar for his impersonation of a leprechaun in “far and away”
DeleteNah he was only nominated a couple times...
ReplyDeleteMust be Anthony Quinn!!

ReplyDeleteIf it wasn't for the Oscar wins, I was going to guess Carlton.
ReplyDeleteCarl's Chop House? The food was heavenly, and the atmosphere was very comfortable. Don't know who the celebrity is but next to Lafayette Coney dogs, it was always my go to in Detroit.

ReplyDeleteOr Gregory Heine
ReplyDeleteAgree w/ Unknown - plus when you are that famous people at fancy restaurants all probably want something and the car park guys are just happy to see him.
ReplyDeleteMany actors enjoy performing too - that's why they're actors! So it's not crazy to think it was just as fun for him to meet genuine fans.
Swayze won two Oscars?
ReplyDeleteMachus isn't in Detroit.
ReplyDeleteIt's the Chop House.
Gene Kelly
ReplyDeletePlease. There's nowhere in Detroit where you hobnob with visiting celebrities.
