As I have said before, this award giving musical organization could only promise people a nomination for their money, but not a win. This isn't like MTV and the A+ list singer very much wants them to be like MTV.
I dunno...I’m going with Grammys/Ariana Grande given her association with Braun (ugh) and the fact that she was nominated for SO MANY awards and went home empty handed. I think she expected to win something and was posed she went home empty handed. I have a feeling she’s done with Braun. Seems like he’s really focusing on Demi and Justin and Ariana is finally seeing his true colors.
Taylor "Chipmunk" Swift. I got an email from Netflix this AM recommending their new TS doc--unf they don't have a reply function that allows me to let them know I am not 14 years old and therefore have zero interest
I'm going with @Surprise Commenter and Ariana, lots of nominations and no wins. Also agree with @Sook think Taylor is becoming old news, she needs a new hook.
+2 Ariana With her dresses and all the hype leading up to the awards, I was surprised she went home empty handed. Taylor seems to be shocked that the Grammys were not pure so I think it’s someone else
She already has an entire shelf of Grammy's and avoided the show as a protest to that insider admitting they are utterly corrupt. When you are bigger than a sleazy awards show...
@norster, @Surprise Commenter, it's not Ariana for two reasons. First is that the Grammy lawsuit released days before the ceremony names her as an artist that got shut out of at least one major nomination because another artist with fewer votes was on the committee and got themselves in instead. Sp she clearly isn't gaming for nominations. The second is Taylor Swift's new documentary, where she has a pity party because she didn't get enough Grammy love last year.
There is no real talent today in female vocalists. It's a wasteland. There is autotune. Trashy people, who bought their way into the business.
I listen to older material. Basia, Gloria, Taylor Dayne, Whitney, Cyndi Lauper, Chrissie Hynde, Pat Benatar, the Judds, the brilliant Brenda Russell, Oleta Adams. Do yourself a favor. Look up Nicky Holland. Wonderful.
Also agree Swifty and also that she has peaked. Her most recent album sold ALOT less and there were no big hit singles compared to her previous album. I wonder what record deal Republic gave her because methinks they caught her on the downward slope of her career.
@holden, her last album is the only album of 2019 to sell over a million copies and she was the most-streamed female artist of the year. on what planet is that ALOT less?? you don't have to be a fan but at least get your facts right.
the blind is about taylor, but i doubt its veracity. page six is a known scooter braun mouthpiece and has a questionable history when it comes to accurate reporting on taylor. gossip cop has debunked them several times, and in this case, her publicist outright denied the claims made in the article by an "anonymous source".
It's probably meant to be Taylor considering recently published articles but I doubt it's true. If you could buy nominations, why didn't Reputation get any major nominations and why didn't Lover get more nominations? It would make more sense if about Ariana but I doubt the blind is meant to be about her.
I think Billie Eilish sweeping the awards indicates musical tastes are shifting as they do every 10 years or so. Swift, Grande, Perry and that lot are on their way out. They truly seem passe now. Finally.
@tshkk, (or should I call you Taylor's PR firm). Reputation has sold 2,230,000 albums in the US, while Lover has sold 1,085,000. In the UK, Reputation sold 378,000 albums vs. only 35,000 for Lover. So, on what planet has Lover sold ALOT less than Reputation? This planet. That's where.
On a positive note, she always has acting to fall back on.
BTW - I got my numbers from her Wikipedia discography, which has plenty of footnotes citing sources.
I’m a grown ass adult and was never into Taylor- but I was bored as hell and was looking for something to watch; I figured I’d start her documentary and if it sucked id just try and find something else- It was moderately interesting- However, what was struck me was her honesty in regards to the fact that she was very insecure- desperately wanted ppl to like her and learned from a very young age to base all of her self worth on applause and being a ppl pleaser- That she was always hyper vigilant not to say or do anything that would upset or offend ppl- then she was slammed for being calculated and phony.. Overall, she was very open and honest about how insecure she was and how her self worth was shit- and how she starved herself to stay so thin.. etc. I thought it was rather brave to just say F it and lay it all out there. I’m not a big “pop” music fan - so I don’t listen to her music pr. Say- but at least she writes all her own songs- and she can sing- I do have compassion and respect for her after watching her documentary.
Grammys/Tay Tay?

ReplyDeleteThen she had very much try to buy some better songs to sing.
ReplyDeleteIt's the Grammys, and Taylor Swift loves picking up an attendance award.

ReplyDeleteSwift has peaked. It's all downhill from here.
ReplyDeleteI'm going with @Surprise Commenter and Ariana, lots of nominations and no wins. Also agree with @Sook think Taylor is becoming old news, she needs a new hook.
ReplyDeleteDefinitely Swift.

Btw there was a story in the NY Post this AM that has the details on this
ReplyDelete+2 Ariana
ReplyDeleteWith her dresses and all the hype leading up to the awards, I was surprised she went home empty handed.
Taylor seems to be shocked that the Grammys were not pure so I think it’s someone else
+1 Taylor and Grammys. Even Liberty Daily linked this one.

ReplyDeleteAlso like Eminem She will continue to have platinum #1 albums, and sell out stadium tours. When you are bigger than the industry that created you...
ReplyDeleteTay Tay be bitchin about not knowing ahead of time if she won.
ReplyDeleteTaylor had so much insane success early on that the transition to mere mortal levels is bumming her out.

Oleta Adams. Tears for Fears will always be a fave of mine. Their music is so good & they discovered her...or so the story goes.
Delete"I don't care how you get here, just get here if you cannnn". So lovely.. Good taste Daryl.
agree Taylor has peaked
ReplyDeleteKid Rock and Eminem called out the grammy BS decades ago....
ReplyDeleteAlso agree Swifty and also that she has peaked. Her most recent album sold ALOT less and there were no big hit singles compared to her previous album. I wonder what record deal Republic gave her because methinks they caught her on the downward slope of her career.
ReplyDeleteTayTay can come back. She just needs to buy herself some more hits like daddy used to do.
ReplyDeleteIt is Taylor Swift. It was reported on Page Six yesterday. It said this fact is very well known by insiders.
ReplyDelete@holden, her last album is the only album of 2019 to sell over a million copies and she was the most-streamed female artist of the year. on what planet is that ALOT less?? you don't have to be a fan but at least get your facts right.

Grammys/Swifty
ReplyDeleteI used to think she was obnoxious, but then she really got obnoxious
Damn.
