Isn't this typical for aristocratic families? They don't marry for love. Edo gets a social boast up thanks to his marriage. Beatrice gets a marriage which is the entire goal of British aristocratic girls. Pippa (Kate's sister is already being cheated on and she hasn't given the obligatory heir and spare yet.) These aren't love matches.
Sad. Edo's a high roller, and his ex is an architect who also has the ability to artfully cut his hair, and successfully shop for the guy so he always looks like a million. Bea, on the other hand, is an excellent babysitter. Not a match.
