Every soul singer and band (and people who think they can sing soul mousic) in the world thinks they have to cover Donny Hathaway's "This Christmas". Hathaway did it perfectly the first time, and just about every cover is laughable in its awfulness.

1. The Chieftain's "The Bells Of Dublin" - simply gorgeous, with fantastic guest appearances by Elvis Costello, Rickie Lee Jones (her "O Holy Night" will bring you to tears), Marianne Faithful and others.
2. Scott Weiland and STP's cover of "Christmas Time is Here" (the song from "A Charlie Brown Christmas").

No one said "Peace on Earth/ The Little Drummer Boy" by Bing Crosby and David Bowie for a favorite ,so I did. Also Rob Halford "Oh Holy Night". They played "Thank God it's not Christmas" on the grocery store music yesterday.

Not a big fan of Christmas songs although I do love Carol of the Bells and the sheer magnificence of Trans-Siberian Orchestra and Mannheim Steam Roller songs. If I'm going to play Christmas music, that will be it. I have the Vince Guaraldi Peanuts Christmas CD somewhere because my father loved it. It's also pretty good.
Before Thanksgiving I heard cover versions of "Last Christmas" and "All I want for Christmas is You" in stores. So tacky, for several reasons.
I hate most Christmas songs, but the ones that get me are covers of classic Christmas songs. There was a Justin Beiber cover of Santa Claus is Coming to Town that used to play at the retail job I used to work at that drove me to ego death. Thankfully, due to being a manager, I figured out how to change the date on the store music player that is never played Christmas Music during December. Worked great until I heard that song playing in May and had to go change it before people noticed.
Think I'm going to have to go with Enty on this one.🤔
