Celebrity #1 is someone everyone knows. He was the flamboyant foreign born permanent A+ lead singer of a permanent A+ list band. He was the subject of a biopic not too long ago.
Celebrity #2 was not famous at the time they hooked up but later became well-known for playing a specific character first in TV commercials then the same character in movies and a TV show. He was also known for playing a well-known TV character originated by someone else in a movie reboot. He had two short marriages but was bi-sexual.
They met at a club in Los Angeles and had a one night stand. Years later, when he was sick, Celebrity #2 told some friends about it. He had the same condition that killed Celebrity #1 but this is not what actually killed Celebrity #2 nor does he think he got it from Celebrity #1 as their hook-up was much earlier.
Freddie Mercury - #1 / Jim Varney (Ernest) - #2

Bye bye childhood...
ReplyDeleteSo GD weird.
ReplyDeletestrange when you think about it, Varney wasn't a good looking guy by any means. Freddie was Freddie and could probably do much, much better even if he wasn't a huge star when this happened.
ReplyDeleteEach of them was somewhat goofy looking, but apparently both were very charming, charismatic guys.
ReplyDeleteThe mental image just won't leave my brain. So strange.
ReplyDeleteThis is peanut butter and pickle sandwich weird.
ReplyDeleteVarney rose to fame in the mid 70s (he starred in "Operation Petticoat", and had some TV credits before that), so this would have been pre-1976? Yea, well before the AIDS era.
he may have done some stuff before but he certainly wasn't FAMOUS until the 80s, so it could have been any time before that (if indeed it's true)
DeleteWell Ernest did usually dress like one of the Village People, makes sense now.
ReplyDeleteThis one is one that I will put in my “did you know...” trivia bank.
ReplyDeleteI'm no judge of what someone may find attractive but if you go look at pictures of Jim V. from the 60/70s he was not odd looking at all. Cigarettes do bad things to you over time.
ReplyDeleteDon't ever do this to a family of badgers...
ReplyDeleteTruly strange bedfellows.
ReplyDeleteVarney looks similar to Freddie's long time love (Jim Hutton?) I can totally see this happening. Freddie definitely had a type.
ReplyDeleteEarnest Goes to the Back Door.
ReplyDeleteHahaha this is so weird.
ReplyDeleteMy brother does an excellent Varney impression, and when he does the badger bit I laugh so hard I sometimes have a tiny accident.
ReplyDeletehave any of you watched ernest movies recently? the guys was totally gay...love him too even if the movies are hard to watch now
ReplyDeleteHe was Welsh/Cherokee, and hadn't much chance against the booze (his words).
ReplyDeleteI think Varney was pretty handsome as a young man.
