A number of decades ago there was an ensemble comedy film.
Some of the deceased actors who starred in it were this pioneer of early TV who allegedly had an X Rated claim to fame, this actor who fathered an even more famous actor and whose biggest role was as a TV detective, this comedic actor who at the time was in a popular ensemble TV show wherein he played the title character, and this multiple Oscar winner more associated with a different genre.
After shooting was done for the day, the actors would party and these parties would often turn into orgies. At one of these orgies, a prostitute died. It was an accident as she was very drunk and fell down a flight of stairs. However, there happened to be several Hollywood luminaries visiting the set that day and partying with the actors so to stop any scandal the body was dumped far away from where it happened. The woman had a police record so there was no further investigation.
The early TV pioneer made veiled comments to a biographer referring to this event in his lifetime.

Is that why there are so many movies with dead hookers?
ReplyDeleteI love that movie. I call bullshit.
ReplyDeleteThe "It's a Mad Mad Mad Mad Mad Mad World" similarity threw us all off this one. I'm sorry but I don't really see any of those guys except Berle at an orgy.
ReplyDeleteI loved that movie when I was a kid.
ReplyDeleteI don't think anybody guessed this one. I remember hearing Bob Denver like a party, when I was young. I was shocked that Gilligan would do that
ReplyDeleteGilbert Gottfried must be told about this. He talks about this movie a LOT on his podcast.
ReplyDeleteWhaaaaat!
ReplyDeleteThat's one of my all-time favorite movie!
How dare you ?!!!(Greta Face)
These reader blinds I can't take seriously without some links
ReplyDeleteWhat's sad to me even in this day and age a "dead prostitute" still has no value.
ReplyDeleteI am sure they do, ya just have to find the right buyer, and keep em on ice, so they don't bloat.
DeleteTwo things... 1) @timebob - no doubt!! I wonder when women will stop being throwaways and expendable if not part of a pat and tidy scene. Sickening. and... 2) I totally read this item as naming JOHN Denver, not BOB Denver. I went through a whole phase picturing this scenario with "Country Road" playing in the background....then BOOM, Bob's Your Uncle! I must say, imagining Bob Denver as an orgy hound wasn't any easier than John Denver.
