Today's Blind Items - Lost In Paradise

This foreign born B- list mostly director is known for making martial arts movies on the cheap. The thing is though, he makes them all in one country and how he makes most of his money is by filming underage sex acts using the production company's equipment and crew. It is the largest child porn ring in the world and apparently nothing can be done because the highest levels of the government have given the green light, including the leader of the country who had his ex-partner fully involved too until they had a falling out.

  5. OMG - how do you people know so much about niche-specific foreign B-list movie directors filming questionable movies outside of the US?
    Wow...

  6. So the actors rollout at 5pm and the kids in cages roll in at 6pm? Is that how it works on set?

  7. @MeticulousBee - we have some really smart commenters with strong backgrounds in film.

Some people have very longterm knowledge of stuff I would never imagine, not unlike sports fans who know weird stuff.

Especially anyone over 50 I bet, for the more historical stuff.

  8. @Brayson I wondered about that too. "Oh hey, if you don't have anything after Kung-Fu 2 The Electric Boogaloo, we could use you on a secret project." Maybe it's a very different film culture there. Over here, if it got out that you crew on porn shoots, you're not hireable. It would be a problem for the women in the crew. Although there's usually a guy, who knows a guy who did. They say the smell on set under the lights is really gross.
The other thing they say about third world productions, is that they use gear that's been stolen from the 1st world.

  9. @HushHush, Let's just hope they don't murder the victims afterwards to ensure silence.

  10. @MeticulousBee: you pick a country you think is a viable option and type in the Google search engine "South Korea martial arts director". Then Jung Doo-hong is a result.

Or if the country you guessed is Thailand, you type in "Thailand martial arts director"...here Prachya Pinkaew is the only viable option of the 3 results. One is dead, one is a Buddhist monk and the other one is Prachya Pinkaew.

  11. My first thought was Gareth Evans, the Welsh director who became famous for filming in Asia with local talent. Mostly known for The Raid franchise and for writing/directing that VHS 2 segment about a death cult in the same country that were raising a demon birth ceremony (probably the best segment in the entire movie, honestly).
