Blind Item #8
The one named former A list singer is trying to distance himself from the celebrity cult. After being its biggest supporter for decades, suddenly, he isn't? What the interviewer who received these revelations should have asked him is why all the love before? Oh, and when is the last time you saw your children?
Becj
ReplyDeleteBeck and scio
DeleteUm,Beck.
ReplyDeleteAnd does he feel like a fucking idiot for buying into before? (Another question that should be asked)
ReplyDeleteYeah huuuuge disappointment. Love his music but... the rest😡
DeleteHope he doesn't think he's a loser and kills himself.
ReplyDeleteNo, Beck was never scientology's "biggest supporter." He was always reluctant to talk about it publicly, and those who follow and report on scientology know that he was always a half in-half out (which as a celeb he had the luxury of being, unlike your average scientologist), and also that he effectively left several years ago but had to stay under the radar to avoid disconnection.
ReplyDeleteAdmittedly, I don't understand why in his recent comments he didn't just stop at "I'm not a scientologist" rather than go further and try to obfuscate his historic involvement. I assume it's to honor some fine line he's walking to maintain connections to those still in the cult, but I'm having a hard time understanding it. Regardless, this whole blind reads as accusatory--especially the implication that he's a deadbeat dad who's walked away from his kids--when he just took an incredibly difficult and potential dangerous step. My guess is someone is trying to test out some black PR to see if it'll stick.
+1
DeleteHe was raised in Scio, though not an excuse.
ReplyDeleteThis reads as Beck- his kids were on tour with him for the majority of the summer. Also his ex wife (not sure it’s finalized ) still at least minorly publicly supports him liking some things he’s associated with on Instagram. I would like to know but am too lazy to really investigate if his dad contributed anything on his record since he usually does although given the musical direction of the record I am not sure there was any string compositions
ReplyDeleteDidn't know the kids were on your with him. That's good to hear! I don't see him interesting much with any scientologists on social media, including Marissa. Only exception is his former bassist (who is very likely the one who helped recover Beck into the cult in the late 90s).
Delete**tour not your
Delete** interacting not interesting
(Fat thumbs + auto correct ;)
This is Beck, obviously. It's important to realize that some celebs are given more leniency from the "church".
ReplyDeleteLooks like Marisa got Scientology in the divorce. Come hang with us heathens Beck!!!!
ReplyDelete🦎🍆
ReplyDeleteWhen I see "Beck", I think "Jeff Beck". But then reminded it's this bozo.

ReplyDeleteWtf Enty? A few months ago you wrote he was molested as a child by adult Scio members and no one helped him when he spoke out about it. Make up your fucking mind, or at least have a meeting with your other Enterns so you all stop contradicting each other with these stupid blinds.
ReplyDeleteYAS QUEEN!!!
DeleteBiggest Scio supporters would be Travolta and Cruise. Has either one of them been trying to distance themselves? With what I hear about Miscavage lately, that would be a good idea.
ReplyDeleteNo, both Travolta and Cruise were front and center (literally) at a recent scientology event. And Cruise has a complex being built for himself and his family in downtown Clearwater, the cult mecca. Those dudes are lifers.
DeleteSting
ReplyDeleteAnd those tantric sex freaks!
Beck.
ReplyDeleteCant stand him.
The cult can keep him
I've always liked Beck but have considered his connection to Scio a black mark. I think he's trying to walk a fine line in what he says so that he can maintain contact with his kids. If he said 'those fu*kers are bat shit crazy' and he ditched their sorry asses, Scio would cut him off from his kids. By saying he was never with them, Beck allows Scio to save face with his defection.
ReplyDeleteEupheme: I think you're right. I think this is the intent of his statements.
ReplyDeleteErin - At first I was like 'why the hell would he backtrack so hard on something he has publicly stated in the past?!?' (i.e. being a Scientologist). The more I gave it thought, the more I came to the conclusion that if Beck said he'd cometo realize that their teachings and beliefs were unhealthy or harmful, Scio would take it as an attack.
ReplyDeleteEupheme: You're absolutely right. Several ex-scientologists have since said the same thing. It's what scientology calls an "acceptable truth" and it allows him to skirt the fair game policy. Though, I still contend he could have left at "I'm not a scientologist," which seems to have worked for Jason Lee. Anyway, the road ahead for him is going to be a tricky one.
ReplyDeleteWasn't there whispers going around that Beck wanted to leave the Lord Xenu cult due to repressed memories of childhood abuse?
