Blind Item #7

This foreign born A- list actress really needs to have her new movie finish second this week. Finishing third is going to make it that much harder to get her a lead again in the near future.

  1. Agree Emilia Clarke. Last Christmas is coming out. Enty has been predicting it will be a flop for so long now.

  2. Speaking of new movies, "JoJo Rabbit" is fantastic. I highly, highly recommend it. It's really original, witty, funny, sad, emotional and has an outstanding cast. It surpassed "Blinded By The Light" as my favorite movie of the year.

  3. "Last Christmas" looks like a pile of crap from the trailers.

  4. "Last Christmas" looks like it should be a Hallmark movie of the week.

  6. Emilia Clarke/Last Christmas.

Her film ain't getting the best reviews from critics right now on Rotten Tomatoes it's 41% and keeps dropping every few hours.

The trailer gave it all away and it's got a heavy British political theme to it which nobody wants to see.

Time for her to hit the casting couch again like Enty posted a few years ago.

  7. Agreed @Zebra! Or a Netflix/ streaming movie. Why waste $50 at the box office when if you turn the channel to Hallmark movie channel....right this second and they are on between now and the end of December and they are feel good and free with cable and in the comfort of your own house.

This is a movie hoping to be like that Godawful movie "Shit Actually" (thank you , Honest Trailers for that) , but, that movie came out in a totally different time for entertainment.

Jojo Rabbit does look interesting and so does Doctor Sleep...but, I feel like I would see Doctor Sleep if it was still October, but, I am in Thanksgiving planning mode already. LOL

Nothing will beat The Joker for me this year though. Best movie I have seen in years honestly. I left the theater still abuzz about how great I thought it was.

  8. The Joker was fantastic. But JoJo Rabbit is very, very good in a different, also satisfying way.

  9. Dude, Emilia is neurologically f*cked in the head, she's probably going to have more medical issues in the future, she is probably not going to live a long life. Is there really a need to keep sh!tting on her?

  11. What is the heavy british political theme? I was planning on taking my mother to see this and she loves Hallmark channel stuff.

  12. I saw the trailers for Last Christmas and she looked so awkward. It's totally not her type of role.

  13. Last Christmas looks like a huge flop from the trailers.

  14. I'm sorry but LAST CHRISTMAS the trailer looks ZERO chemistry between those two odd bird leads (together, not odd people or actors) and just screams flop. Did they release THIS early to get Xmas salivators to turn out? WHY? Thing is I saw Xmas peppered all over the cable airwaves even a week before Halloween... LIFETIME movies etc. WTF. I know we said Earlier every year but at least wait til November.

If Emilia was smart she'd just jump on a tv series bandwagon again. She is far better long term in a role we associate her with. She doesn't have that chameleon like appeal or overall scope of range.

  15. She gets a decent review but a movie based on a cheesy George Michael song has to suck, and I mostly liked George.

  16. Heavy political themes in Christmas movies are a big no. And it also dates the movie.

  17. That's a nope.
Emilia Clarke the type of person who looks WORSE when she smiles. It doesn't happen often but she's one

  18. I thought it looked like a cute movie. I would watch it on TV, but rarely pay to see something on theaters these days.

  19. Aren't rom coms a tough sell these days?

I think the film looks cute but I love George Michael and I love brits. I'll probably watch it when it hits on demand.

  20. She is financially secure for life. $500 mil/episode for GOT, that's a handsome paycheck.

  24. F*cking autocorrect

Holy sh!t, have you seen who the story/screenplay is by? And even worse, who is directing? The music the movie is based on? No way Emilia Clarke gets the blame for this lead balloon.

Writer Emma Thompson has brought us such classics as Bridget Jones's Baby and Nanny McPhee. Maybe she'd better stick to acting, they say players make the worst coaches. Thompson is no Phoebe Waller-Bridge that's for sure.

Director Paul Feig is best known for such classics as the Ghostbusters reboot and basically everything with Melissa McCarthy.

And finally the movie is supposedly based on George Michael's music, like they couldn't afford Sting or someone better.

Wow I didn't even have to touch on how the movie looks too f*cking British, the lack of a more well known male lead, the sh!tty trailer, etc.

I mean if they'd cast her with Kit Harrington that movie would have made a ton!

  25. @Guesser.

It has a political theme because BDS is the transatlantic strain of TDS.

Can't have us peasants having any say in anything , that's for our Sorosite poodle masters to ensure.

  26. I don't know how successful Last Christmas will be, but I don't get the hate Enty has for Emilia. She was outstanding in Game of Thrones. All that crazy dialect and whatnot she had to remember proves to me that she is a great actress.

  27. I read somewhere, maybe the DM comments, that the song 'Last Christmas' is literally the plot of the movie. SPOILERS: i.e 'Last Christmas, I gave you my heart'... yes, the male lead in the movie literally did, as he was the one to give Emilia Clarke's character a new heart in her heart transplant op! He is actually a ghost and the Emilia Clarke character is the only one in the movie who can see him. Yes, it's as bad as it sounds!

    1. The very next day you gave it away.
What, she represented it to someone else
Or took it back to the shop for a credit note?

  28. Emma Thompson won an Oscar for the Sense and Sensibility script way back when. And her acceptance speech was super clever and witty. I'm in literal shock that she could be writing such pap now

  29. The most shocking thing is that Emma apparently had some sort of buy-in from GM before his death. Idk if he saw a treatment or what he said yes to; obviously they’re including ‘Last Christmas’ and apparently another new song of his that’s never been released. I really doubt that he would’ve approved the plot of this movie, based on what I’ve read. Is it possible that he just approved the use of the 2 songs and she went off the rails with the script? Idk, but sort of creepy.

    1. I have it on good authority that she asked George and this was the reason he flung himself out of a moving car and rolled down the motorway.

  30. Sometimes I wonder if the studios want these female-led films to fail. It's too early to release this film. The release for The Kitchen was all over the damn place and I actually ended up missing it. Nobody is the mood for a Christmas movie yet.

Stop fucking up the release dates. It's, like, the marketing people's only job. Get it right if you actually want the film to make money.
