This organization peaked in popularity in the early part of the last century. These days they are despised for their awful and violent legacy but also treated somewhat as a joke in their present form. Whenever they have a public event, the number of protesters present are usually much greater than the number of people from the organization.
Among men of a certain generation, you will find some who joined the organization when it was important for career advancement among other things. One such man was this late legislative leader who holds a record for years of service. He apologized for his time in the organization.
Two actors, one deceased and one living, also spent some time as members of this organization.
1.) Actor #1, who is deceased, was known primarily for violent action films he made with this late A list director. One of his last roles was a comedy with this permanent A/A- list comedic actor from that show everyone knows that launches careers. He joined the organization as a lark as a young man as they were powerful in the rural area where he grew up. After a couple of meetings, he realized it was a mistake. The actor was not a racist and he joined the military soon after and left the area
2.) Actor #2, who is still alive but largely retired except for infomercials ,which are often parodied on YouTube, is a character actor who has been in many films with many different actors. He also joined the organization as a young man largely because he dislikes African- Americans and immigrants. In fact, when one of his children was thought to be dating outside their race, he objected very strongly. It is not known if he ever formally resigned membership in this organization. It is rumored he got his first Hollywood job, which was not as an actor, through organization contacts. This is odd because the religion he practices has traditionally been a target of the organization.

ReplyDeleteRobert Byrd for the legislator
ReplyDeleteKKK?
ReplyDeleteGood ole Robert KKK Byrd.
ReplyDelete#2 Wilford Brimley?
ReplyDelete+1 MyDog, Can't get enough of Ice Ice Brimley 😅
ReplyDeleteYou mean Hillary Clinton's mentor Robert Byrd ???

ReplyDelete"He also worked as a bodyguard for Howard Hughes,[5] a ranch hand, a wrangler, and a blacksmith.[1] He then began shoeing horses for film and television. He began acting in the 1960s as a riding extra in Westerns and a stunt man at the urging of his friend, actor Robert Duvall.[6]"

Good call with Brimley... I only can guess Chevy Chase as Perm A actor from SNL(or Ackroyd) and someone who worked with them. Could be Eddie Murphy too
ReplyDelete1. I thought Charles Bronson and Michael Winner but can’t find a comedy.
ReplyDeleteBrimley is Mormon apparently, the KKK have a problem with them?
ReplyDeleteWho is #1
ReplyDelete#1 would be Warren Oates. Born in Kentucky, did four violent films with Sam Peckinpah (and was reportedly the one who introduced him to cocaine). One of his last roles was Stripes (1981), starring Bill Murray (and Harold Ramis).
ReplyDeleteGreat guess, I think you're absolutely right.
DeleteKKK
ReplyDeleteIt may be the best infomercial parody ever made.

Oates also served in the Marines for two years after WW2.
ReplyDelete@Brayson
ReplyDeleteOn the religious side, traditionally the KKK has hated anyone not protestant.
I think the second guy is Jewish...who incidentally, have a reputation of being racist in the south so not Brimley.
ReplyDelete@Brayson87 That YouTube video is hilarious lol
ReplyDelete@MeliticusBee
ReplyDeleteBrimley is from Utah, a Mormon State.
The legislator is the late Democrat Robert Byrd.
ReplyDeleteI take that back I guess.
ReplyDeleteProbably is Brimley....The Klan and the Mormon church, particularly in Utah have a mixed history - not exactly the way it is presented in this blind. They have alternately embraced and denounced one another - more like a struggle for power.
@Heff, I just did some research and yes the KKK is definitely against Mormons. I knew they were against non-protestants but I hadn't heard of them singling Mormons out before. Guess it's whoever is different in each town that gets on their sh!t list.
ReplyDeleteUtah history says the interaction is mixed...

By the way, a Peckinpah story...
ReplyDeleteIn the seventies, Peckinpah was working on a project about drug trafficking. He had a few friends who knew people and asked them to put him in touch with big traffickers, for uncredited research purposes. As these people were fond of his films, they accepted to meet Peckinpah.
A few months pass, the friends don't see any advancement in the project, and they realize that Peckinpah was just doing a LOT of cocaine at the time, up to the point he tried to put together a direct connection with Columbian dealers for his own personal use and made up the movie project as an excuse to meet with the big players.
Well done @Angela.
ReplyDeleteWarren "Lighten up Francis" Oates.
Oh so when a major Democrat and Clinton mentor joins the pointy hood wearers (an organisation founded by Democrats) and rises to a major role in them, then it's just a "lark" is it?
ReplyDeleteBut when some idiot celebrity tweets something asinine and irrelevant that todays deranged Twitter gestapo so show deem unacceptable then they must be destroyed?
Hmm, interesting.
Somehow not so show
ReplyDelete@MeliticusBee Southern Jews have a reputation of being racist? Bullshit.
ReplyDelete@Flashy, Welcome to American politics and media 😅
ReplyDelete@MyDog, Right, someone really knocked it out of the park with Ice Ice Brimley, it's a masterpiece of editing.
ReplyDeleteRobert Byrd, mentor to Hillary Clinton and NAACP honoree Robert Byrd? Amazing.
ReplyDeletePartisan hacks gonna hack partisanly. Can we stick to celebs?
Sidney Poitier
ReplyDeleteJack Palance?
ReplyDeleteCity Slickers with Billy Crystal of SNL was one of his last films . He did a bunch of films with Robert Aldrich playing the baddie
Or
I was thinking James Coburn who worked with Peckinpah but dont know any comedies
@Ulf, They call him Mister Tibbs!
ReplyDeleteALL Senate Democrats had to answer to Byrd, not just Hillary, he had that much power, and he let everyone know it.
ReplyDeleteIt better not be Mr. Quaker Oats Diabetes, because I'll be super disappointed in him.
ReplyDeleteJack Palance, Billy Crystal’s co star in City Slickers
ReplyDeleteGood job @Angela! Spot on!
ReplyDeleteAngela: amazing.
