Blind Item #3

One of the reasons this singer of a former A-/B+ list band didn't want to discuss a recent violent incident at his house is because he knows he was being targeted.

  2. Jeff Tweedy knows he was being targeted. Even his wife and his kid don't know about it, as they've discussed the gunfire on the news, but Enty know through his telepathic connection to any celebrity. Sure, makes a lot of sense;

  3. Why the shooting?
    Tweedy lives in Chicago.
    It's what they do there.

  5. Why would Jeff Tweedy be targeted? Because he converted to Judaism?

"do you happen to know why?"

No, he doesn't know why. It's quite obvious he's just speculating about a news he's heard about.
The risks are quite low. The Venn diagram between Wilco fans and the audience here is basically non-existent.
If, as you've said, we hear in a couple of weeks that it was some bored kid who shot on a random house, nobody will draw attention to it.
But in the eventuality that there's indeed something (1 chance out of 100), Enty will be glad to post a reveal.

Likewise, when somebody looks like a mess on the pictures at any awards ceremony, Enty will systematically post that they're back on using drugs. If there's a woman with a revealing dress, she tries to get attention for yachting or (alternate blind item) anybody could see her boobs while she was doing line of coke after line of coke.
It's quite an easy game. Remember that Himmmm "covered" a lot of major awards for years, while he was actually in Virginia, totally disconnected from the industry.

  7. If Enty does want to go all in on a Wilco conspiracy theory, then this probably has something to do with the former Wilco band member who sued the rest of the band and then “conveniently” died from a fentanyl overdose

  8. Jay Bennett was quite a mess, a guy who couldn't help spending his entire life in the studio using every instrument he had near him to add an umpteenth instrumental track on a recording, even if he had no clear idea about how the combination would sound. And he would fight for every idea to be preserved. Tweedy tolerated that on Summerteeth, then it got out of control on Yankee Hotel Foxtrot forcing him to hire Jim O'Rourke to mix the songs and be an arbiter. O'Rourke and Tweedy eventually decided to switch tracks during the songs, which created the disjointed structure of the finished recordings.

You can notice that Wilco would change its lineup a lot during Bennett's years with the band, as there was a lot of conflict and changes in musical directions. Since he left, Tweedy finally faced his depression and his self-medication, and there was just one guy who left in 17 years (the keyboard player who didn't like to tour). That's a big clue that Bennett didn't make the band an enjoyable place to be.

I had assumed that Bennett was some kind of musical wunderkind, like these people who can play every instrument or turn an average backing track into something unique. But his solo recordings (which I had bought) were just dull, somebody desperately trying to sing like Elvis Costello over forgettable melodies, where he had indeed piled up the instrument tracks. Apparently, he had finally started to tone down the approach in his final recordings.

And you actually rewriting history (unless you're toying with it to guess how Enty could try to get an angle on a conspiracy) Jay Bennett first announced on his blog that he was in poor health and that he needed hip replacement surgery at 45. As his health insurance wouldn't cover it, he sued the band a few days later. He assumed that it would be a solution to pay for the operation. And then he OD'ed a couple of weeks later because he would self-medicate with painkillers. There's no mystery or conspiracy. Prince and Tom Petty also died because they used Fentanyl due to their broken hips, and they weren't involved in a lawsuit with Tweedy.

  10. There is currently a gang war going on across the highway from Tweedy's house but these shitheads drive around all night looking for each other and opening fire. This is the fifth instance in the last month.

Maybe that bank robbery in Des Plaines that ended up in OIP was a message too.

  11. I thought he was in the Old Irving Park neighborhood Roundeye? Not much gunfire that far north. I don't know what neighborhood you're referring to across the highway though?

  12. Albany Park/West Walker (no one calls West Walker that name but it is official). Shootings from Lawrence and Western to Irving and Pulaski...the shitheads get coked up and drive around looking for each other.
