Blind Item #10 - Reader Blind

Many decades ago this actor and actress worked on a film together.

The actress was most famous for a later TV show in which she starred with a  relative by marriage who is now deceased.  The Oscar nominated actor who is deceased starred in many westerns and crime thrillers as the strong square jawed hero but is probably most famous for a couple villainous roles - His first major film in which he played an over the top psycho and a later film which was an ensemble.

In her autobiography, the actress wrote that she fell in love with the actor during the shooting of their film but it was one sided and platonic only. This is not at all true. In fact they had a torrid affair that eventually ended up with the actress getting pregnant. Both were married to other people but the actor in particular did not want to leave his wife.

The actress had the baby. Her older bi-sexual first husband was actually quite understanding as he had a very kinky sex life and stayed with her through it. Once the baby who was a boy was born, it was raised by some relatives of the actor in the state he was originally from. In later years, the son, who has since passed away, had only brief encounters with his mother but the actor did have a warm relationship with him.

  7. I'm intrigued with the Shirley Jones guess. I really like that guess....And I think that's the winner.

  8. Richard Widmark for the actor? He's the guy who pushed the old lady in a wheelchair down the stairs. The only later films I could find for him were Murder on the Orient Express and Against all Odds. Only Murder qualifies as a true ensemble film

  14. If it's Shirley and Richard they made a movie in 1961 called Two Rode Together. How appropriate

  15. Ok Robert Mitchum sort of fits, he did a lot of Westerns early on, played a psycho in the first Cape Fear and had a square jaw, maybe him?

  21. Good job E!

It says "Widmark was the only co-star shirley ever fell in love with, but nothing came of it"

  22. Although this seems kind of fan fiction-y too.

I mean if the bi-sexual husband was cool with it, why didn't they just raise the kid as their own, I mean they had another kid just one year later

  26. Shirley Jones fits but who was the old bi-sexual she was married to?

  27. My rationale is that Jack had very strong genetics - just look at pics of David, Shaun, Patrick and how much they look like their dad. Especially since the baby was also a boy perhaps as he got older Shirley was afraid that it might be obvious who the father was (or wasn't). Also Richard and his wife only had one child, a daughter, so it's possible he wanted another child especially a son in his life. Just a hypothesis of course.

  28. Shirley Jones and Gordon MacRae. Musicals they had in common.

Not Richard Widmark. He wasn't her type, and she wasn't his type.

  34. Molly, just for the record, I'm in double digits and that is the only reason I've ever gotten any tail. Granted, my abundant charm and inherent graciousness gets the conversation started, but until I whip out the ol' Dodger Dog, those lucky ladies might as well be dishing with their besties, given how sensitive and empathetic I am.
