    1. You must love whete it’s not stifling hot or a combo of hot & humid.

Powder on the sheets is mainly a Southern thing, but I’ve powdered mine a couple of times - with cornstarch powder. That’s only cuz where I’m staying right now, they like to keep the house as hot inside as out...and it’s 95° outside. 😩 It helps keep the sweat off & helps to keep you cool.

  42. FreeBird I’m from the South and live in the Deep South, it’s always hot and humid here but I had never heard of that. Interesting to know but I’m surprised corn starch wouldn’t just make you stickier and hotter with a thin coating of powder.

  46. @astra it's a thing! i'm a sweaty sleeper who likes to be a cool sleeper and was taught that the easiest way to acheive that is talc powder on the sheets at night. also useful for camping in the warmer months. :)

  47. I would sprinkle powder on our children's beds when they weren't feeling well. Guess it was a mothering thing. Still sprinkle it on ours.

I think it probably comes down from mothers and grandmothers because here in the deep south we not only have high temps but high humidity as well. Maybe they sprinkled powder to make the bedding more comfortable.
