Well if I must say, opposed to most of Italy, in Turin lots of people are pretty reserved and laid back with homosexuality so I don't think they would do homophobic chants and things to mock him but would defend him instead (not so sure about Real Madrid and United stans). Here in my city (Naples) I am pretty sure that if he ever came out of the closet and decided to be true to himself the majority of male neapolitans would mock him to death (some already do that because they believe the rumors), mainly because of our rivalry with Juventus but homophobia towards gay males plays a good role in that...and it is really weird because Naples has a veeery long tradition (like, centuries?) of people being openly queer, especially trans folk.

ReplyDeleteThey did the work they were supposed to do: make people forget the very much true allegations he had a Moroccan boyfriend. I don't think it has been an easy decision to make because if I remember correctly in Morocco, if you are gay, you will be jailed. Maybe he wanted to keep his boyfriend or fling or whoever he was out of trouble.
