This foreign born permanent A- list musician/singer from a group and solo was a part of several successful bands when he was young followed by an also successful solo career. He is know for his angelic singing voice and his proficiency with a number of different instruments. He has done a lot of charity work both with other musicians from his own generation (including one he was in band with for a short while) and alone primarily for charities helping children. What is not so well known is that he earmarks a percentage of his concert and recording royalties for these charities as well and has increased the amount as his own children have gotten older and are on their own.
Peter Gabriel?
ReplyDeleteClapton?
ReplyDeletePhil Collins?

ReplyDeleteThough he may be higher than A-?
Bono is the most virtuous thing I can think of
ReplyDeleteHe doesn't give his own money to charity
DeleteAnd even when he collects for charity
He still doesn't give it away.
John Waite ?
ReplyDeleteJohn Waite? If I posted twice the phone is being a jerk.
ReplyDeleteSo moderated comments again, what happened?
ReplyDeleteSweet
ReplyDeleteThis has to be Winwood. He has the falsetto voice and can play basically any instrument. Clapton is known for playing only guitar and, as Melvin said, would be rated higher. He funds the Crossroads facility for the treatment of substance abuse, it's somewhere in the Caribbean.
ReplyDeleteNeil Young. (Bands before solo were Buffalo Springfield & CSNY)
ReplyDeleteNah Darryl Hannah wouldn’t permit it
DeleteVoice of an angel is throwing me.
ReplyDeleteI'd say Michael McDonald but I don't think two bands (Doobie Brothers and Steely Dan) constitutes "several".
Can Eric Clapton play several instruments?
Paul McCartney but he'd be permanent A+ right?
Liking the Steve Winwood guess!
Y'all are much better at this than me.
Midge Ure?
ReplyDeleteHow about Geddy Lee from Rush?
ReplyDeleteNeil Young
ReplyDelete@Dark Star, You might want to go back and check past blinds about Bono, he's no saint.
ReplyDeleteOr even just a half a glance at YT after searching his name, lol!
DeleteI think "a part of several successful bands when he was young" will be key to figuring this one out, kind of rare.
ReplyDeleteGeddy hasn't done anything solo, Unknown.
ReplyDeleteThis is Sting

ReplyDelete@Brayson that part of the clue ensures that it's Steve Winwood
ReplyDeleteSpencer Davis Group
Traffic
Blind Faith
Jesus Christ. Most of the guesses here make clear that people didn't even read the blind.
ReplyDeleteI don't know who this is, but Bless your Soul buddy !
ReplyDeleteA Lotus blossoms in the filthy mud....just like you in Hollywood !
Yeah, Neil Young sounds good for this. Well Done @Rob Zero
ReplyDeleteI’m going with Jeff Lynne because he was in several groups when he was young, had a bit of solo success and was in The Flying Wilbur’s which I think was formed to help charities.
ReplyDeleteOhhh nice! Good one w the Flying Wilburs.
Deleteprobably winwood. only because a lot of people don't know who he is, because he's great. clapton, gill, young, etc. are NOT A-.
ReplyDeleteSteve Winwood, who should be A+ if just based on talent.
ReplyDeleteI think this is Midge Ure - an extraordinary talent, and ever-present in charitable causes
ReplyDelete+Steve Winwood
ReplyDeleteI think this is steve winwood...Traffic, Spencer Davis Group, Blind Faith, solo...multiple instruments. Lovely blind!
ReplyDeleteGordon Matthew Thomas Sumner
ReplyDeleteThis blind is Steve Winwood
ReplyDeleteSteve Winwood, bands Spencer Dave Group, Blind Faith,Traffic. Solo career. Never quite A+ As a solo. Charity works well known, multi instrumenalist. So he is the best guest. @Neil was first,I think.
ReplyDeleteBono is a greedy tax-dodger and davos slut, this is Windwood who now lives and runs a farm.
ReplyDeleteBono is a charity social climber.
DeleteJust does it to rubs shoulders with the royal family.
His charity had £165m in the bank which he was sitting on.
One pure scumbag.

ReplyDeleteI think it's Peter Gabriel (angelic). I think several successful bands is a red herring.
ReplyDeleteHe is a true sweetheart and an amazing, amazing performer. This blind does not surprise me at all.
Steve Windwood was in Spencer Davis Group, Eric Clapton and Powerhouse, Blind Faith
ReplyDeleteTraffic, Ginger Baker's Air Force and then solo. He's got four kids. He plays keyboards, guitar and sings. Makes the most sense to me. He also seems like a decent bloke, too.
Great whoever it is.
ReplyDeleteI don't think anyone has ever described Neil Young as having a voice of an angel.
ReplyDeleteI think McCartney - even though he should be hire on the list, there's lot of younger people who don't really know him the way he should be known.
ReplyDeleteangelic singing voice
ReplyDeletecould that be referring to that See you in heaven Clapton song?
Peter Gabriel (angel) or Steve Winwood (higher love)
ReplyDeleteDon Henley. He has always cared kids.
ReplyDeleteLol, after he molests them? Or before? Probably after, I'm sure he thinks some money and just a threat and sending them running, is care...ful.lol!
DeleteNeil Young, def. Makes up for the Pegi thing?
ReplyDeleteMagnus just won the Internet
ReplyDelete+1 E, Winwood fits.
ReplyDeleteThis cannot possibly be Neil Young. He has 2 adult children with cerebral palsy (one cannot even speak), so they will never be ‘on their own.’
ReplyDelete+1 Steve Winwood.
Yeah definitely Steve Winwood. Just read the first two paragraphs of his wiki entry and google steve winwood charity.
