Blind Item #1 - Kindness

This foreign born permanent A- list musician/singer from a group and solo was a part of several successful bands when he was young followed by an also successful solo career. He is know for his angelic singing voice and his proficiency with a number of different instruments.  He has done a lot of charity work both with other musicians from his own generation (including one he was in band with for a short while) and alone primarily for charities helping children. What is not so well known is that he earmarks a percentage of his concert and recording royalties for these charities as well and has increased the amount as his own children have gotten older and are on their own.

    1. He doesn't give his own money to charity
And even when he collects for charity
He still doesn't give it away.

  6. This has to be Winwood. He has the falsetto voice and can play basically any instrument. Clapton is known for playing only guitar and, as Melvin said, would be rated higher. He funds the Crossroads facility for the treatment of substance abuse, it's somewhere in the Caribbean.

  7. Neil Young. (Bands before solo were Buffalo Springfield & CSNY)

  8. Voice of an angel is throwing me.

I'd say Michael McDonald but I don't think two bands (Doobie Brothers and Steely Dan) constitutes "several".

Can Eric Clapton play several instruments?

Paul McCartney but he'd be permanent A+ right?

    Liking the Steve Winwood guess!

Y'all are much better at this than me.

  11. I think "a part of several successful bands when he was young" will be key to figuring this one out, kind of rare.

  12. Geddy hasn't done anything solo, Unknown.

  18. I’m going with Jeff Lynne because he was in several groups when he was young, had a bit of solo success and was in The Flying Wilbur’s which I think was formed to help charities.

  20. Steve Winwood, who should be A+ if just based on talent.

  25. Steve Winwood, bands Spencer Dave Group, Blind Faith,Traffic. Solo career. Never quite A+ As a solo. Charity works well known, multi instrumenalist. So he is the best guest. @Neil was first,I think.

  27. I think it's Peter Gabriel (angelic). I think several successful bands is a red herring.

He is a true sweetheart and an amazing, amazing performer. This blind does not surprise me at all.

  28. Steve Windwood was in Spencer Davis Group, Eric Clapton and Powerhouse, Blind Faith
Traffic, Ginger Baker's Air Force and then solo. He's got four kids. He plays keyboards, guitar and sings. Makes the most sense to me. He also seems like a decent bloke, too.

  30. I don't think anyone has ever described Neil Young as having a voice of an angel.

    ReplyDelete
  31. I think McCartney - even though he should be hire on the list, there's lot of younger people who don't really know him the way he should be known.

  32. angelic singing voice

could that be referring to that See you in heaven Clapton song?

  38. This cannot possibly be Neil Young. He has 2 adult children with cerebral palsy (one cannot even speak), so they will never be ‘on their own.’

    +1 Steve Winwood.
