Today's Blind Items - The Contents Differ From The Package

A few years before this streaming show became a monster hit and people knew who one of the lead actors, he was in an indie movie that with a person we will call K who was working in production. She was about 24 at the time and began chatting with our actor on the set's downtime. Pretty soon they were having a casual fling, and eventually, the actor invited her to come with him on vacation to Mexico, fully paid. She wasn't in love with the guy, but she definitely trusted him and was becoming more and more willing to open up, as he seemed to open up more to her. Things are going well, then one day, K wakes up in their room and our actor is gone. He straight-up left. No warning, no explanation, just left and hopped on a plane. K was absolutely shocked and devastated. I don't think he ever spoke to her again either, maybe a quick heartless text here and there. Not only did he leave her to pay for her own stay, he left her without her plane ticket. It was utterly cruel, absolutely unnecessary, and something traumatic for K. She cannot handle conversations about the show. She is forever horribly untrusting, and haunted by one remark he made to her: "You know what you're doing when you get men to think you're sexy". K is a wonderful person but the actor nearly broke her.

  2. I think it's one of the guys from OITNB, given its Season 7 drop today.

Matt McGorry? (Afghan Hound) or Pablo Schreiber (Pornstache)?

  3. "broken" by being stranded on vacation by a man she "wasn't in love with"? I can see being pissed off, even getting revenge... but being forever untrusting and devastated doesn't really sound right. It's not like he raped her and sold her to a North Korean dictator or something. This reaction doesn't match what's being told here.

  4. Pablo Schreiber's brother is Liev Schreiber, a known asshole. I wouldn't be surprised if this were him.

  5. I bet Harbour. ‘Monster’ hit sounds like ST. He’s also in that Frankenstein’s monster thing on Netflix.

  6. +1@Tierney. Something must’ve precluded him leaving, and especially leaving her without a plane ticket. ‘You know what you’re doing when you get men to think you’re sexy’...sounds like he knew she wasn’t into him & she just wanted a free vacation. In any case, one should never go anywhere (from dinner to a vacation) without the resources to get home. Things can happen and often do.

BTW, I have no idea who any of these guesses are.

  7. I agree, Tierney, her reaction seems over the top.

And even if she'd been in love with him...what he did would have been very cruel, but nothing that doesn't happen a thousand times every single fucking day.

  9. @tierney: Something is definitely left out here. Dudes don't bolt from vacation pussy like that.

  10. Broke her? That seems a little over the top dramatic. She had to buy a plane ticket? Mmm, ok

  12. One of David Harbour's first roles was in "Kinsey" (K), released in 2005 by Fox Searchlight, a subsidiary of 20th Century fox, which specializes in distributing foreign, independent, arthouse films.

  14. It was a dick move, but pretty much all of us have had a relationship of some kind end in this sort of fashion, so 'broken' is a bit much.

  15. I've never read or heard a bad word said about Pablo Schreiber. I don't think OITNB is the show. I'm certain 'monster' in 'monster hit' is the actual clue.

  16. If she was only 24 and this was her first time in a foreign country where she didnt speak the language and didnt have much cash on hand or someone to call to bail her out, I could see it being kind of traumatic.

Otherwise, you shouldn't expect much when you get involved in this type of situation, at least an escort sorts out payment in advance and the terms are clear.

It sounds like the guy felt they were dating and then he realized she was in it for the kicks and he wanted payback

  18. "She wasn't in love with the guy" means you don't take a trip with him and you definitely don't let him pay. Tough way to learn.

  19. Even though he seems well-liked in interviews and on chat shows, I did read this as David Harbour from Stranger Things.

It sounds like, perhaps, he wasnt as clear on the casual fling aspect of things as she was. Very uncool to strand someone in a foreign country, though. Leave early if you must, but at least leave the girl the ticket and say expecting her to pay it back (which probably wouldn't happen, but could try). It does sound like there's more to this story, or he's unstable and she should be grateful she got away from him at just the cost of a plane ticket.

  20. Who knows what happened to the 24 yr. old assistant, stranded in Mexico, with an outstanding hotel bill to pay...

It seems implied she had to endure a few ordeals to get out of there.

If she used a credit card and was home pronto, with no hassles, then yes, broken is a strong reaction.

  21. I think y'all have it with David Harbour. "'Monster' hit" does sound like Stranger Things and then there's that whole "'hopped' on a plane" thing (as in Hopper, maybe?).

    It's Pablo Schreiber.

Before OITNB, he was in a 2010 movie called Happythankyoumoreplease, which has a production coordinator named Kat. Kat was born in 1984, per her imdb bio I remember that movie premiered at Sundance that year, which means it would have actually been in production around 2008-2009, or just about when Kat was about to turn from 24 years of age into 25.

  25. Title's really weird - "contents differ from the package" but I haven't watched many streamer shows so idk how it would relate

  26. Sure what he did was super horrible, but her reaction sounds hyperbolic. She wasn't in love with him but this almost 'broke her'? Even Kathy Griffin seems to have recovered quite well from the time when she said that Trump broke her.

  27. y'all are so ignorant— trauma is not what happens to you, trauma is when you don't come down from the stress hormones; you become "stuck" in fight or flight mode and there is no resolve. inability to run, flee, or fight becomes immobilization, and immobilization means you are frozen, all the stress is frozen in you. also, the stress hormones are trying to get you to come "home," wherever/whatever that is, a place where yo ucan rest and resolve the stress, and in a foreign country abandoned by yourself, there is nowhere to run, no one to fight, and nowhere safe to go. people who have a history of trauma are WAY more easily prone to re-traumatization, and yes, to normal people the reaction is unwarranted, but that is subjective because again— trauma is not an incident, it is the injury to the brain after an incident. so you can become traumatized by anything, theoretically. all of this can be found in "the body keeps the score" by bessel van der kolk.

Yes it really depends on the assistant's status and whether he knew it or not. If it left her broke and destitute in Mexico without a way home...that's pretty horrible. On the other side of the coin he could have thought she was cool with it and maybe even knew he had to leave early. He still should have paid for her return ticket and expenses.
I learned pretty early on to never, ever, ever, ever and I preached this to all my friends...ever, ever, ever...get in a situation you cannot easily get out of.
Even just being stranded across town can be bad enough.

  29. People don't understand why a young girl would have trust issues after being wooed and then ghosted, left without funds in a foreign country too?

I think the whole thing was premeditated on the guy's part and that is what the blind implies.

There ARE guys who, after being dumped by a woman who they really liked/loved, make it their mission to "make her fall for you, then dump her cold." That sounds like this guy, to me.

Take someone with an innocent heart, a trusting person, pretend you are falling for her, wait until she's begun to fall for you...and then, without any warning or explanation, vanish.

People assume she knew it was just a fling. Just because she said she was OK with not being in love, doesn't mean she knew what she was dealing with, or that she didn't begin to fall for him anyway.

Not everyone has a calloused heart, and 'the first cut is the deepest.' Some guys get off on being that first cut.

It would've also been scary being stuck in a foreign country, as a young (or any) female, alone, with NO money and no clue how to get home. I don't think most men would understand that aspect of it. Totally different for a guy. I would think that would be obvious though.

  30. 5551423 very well said.

Also, the sudden break from the bonding hormones and 'high' of falling for someone made worse by a spike in fear and distress - what would those be? Hormones? Chemicals?

Would really cement the trauma. The person would be changed.

If she truly did not care about him, no bonding or high to be broken and no distress other than how to get home. But, he picked someone naive and trusting enough that she thought he was sincere, so, the oxytocin or whatever, was in play. Do you think he was deliberate? I do.

  31. She was beginning to trust him and they were opening up to each other. He horribly and abruptly broke that trust, that can be pretty traumatic. Not to mention the dis about her looks/sex appeal.

I wouldn't have been scarred. I would have harbored that feeling and started planning my revenge. Never show your hand until you are ready to strike. Plan meticulously and then take him out.

  32. It's funny how so many here seem to be okay with a man thinking he's dating a woman not in love with him (and a quick aside, don't most people date to get to know each other, not wait until you fall in love with them to date them) being cold and vindictive upon realizing she's just in it for kicks when if the roles were reversed, people would be screaming "Well, what did she expect, of course they were just having fun. She must have been a clingy psycho"
The woman in the situation would have been all kinds of vindictive c*nts for up and leaving him stranded 'because he didn't feel the same way about her' boo hoo!

Are we to assume he told her he loved her because if not, how would she know they weren't on the same page?

  33. Come on guys... "Broke her"? David Harbour was in Brokeback Mountain and his wife was played by Ana Faris. Sound right?

  34. This is why all women need to be financially responsible for themselves. You shouldn’t accept a “free” trip from a man you don’t know well, and aren’t having a relationship w/ unless you have the financial means to get yourself out of whatever may come up. You can’t just assume everything is going to be alright. And “broken”? That’s ridiculous! Consider it a life lesson, and you got out w/ nothing but a financial scar.

  35. No excuse for leaving her without her plane ticket.

If he was angry that she wasn't as into him as he thought, he could do the actorly thing and say he has to fly home early.

This blind reminds me of the Avicii video about Bromance -- with the two guys ditching their female companion after they have a threesome. Just feels misogynistic.
