TMZ. They are running entire photo spreads of celebrity women on yachts. Some are lower ranking celebrities or singers, some are former spouses of sports stars. It's hard to interpret it as anything but flat out advertising. What is Levin getting out of doing it? That's the big question. Who is paying him and how much? I guess it's legal but it's still creepy AF. TMZ is also really promoting Shawn Mendez and his beard.
I always thought a great money maker would be an ultra high end version of TheEroticReview, where the elite could share reviews of the celeb whores they have had. I am talking like $1000/month subscription fee, to keep the riff raff like me out.
Why would TMZ do this on purpose? Would they want to out the celebrities ? Or just tell the people who can afford paying these women what the selection is? Both solutions make about as little sense. The first one is the opposite of the mandatory digs at TMZ here (because Enty claims to spread the truth) while the second one is just stupid, as the people who can afford paying the celebrities will have other sources of information rather than a popular tabloid to make their picks.
The disappointing truth is that basically every tabloid runs a bikini slideshow on summer; Male readers like to gaze at the women, while female readers will get a reminder of the pounds they have to lose to be flawless on the beach. In Entern lingo, a celebrity in a bikini means looking for a yachting session. It may be possible that they are photographed just because it's an easy way to be in tabloids and to stay in the public eye, not necessarily because they want to say every billionaire that they are available.
Um,@Angela,these woman are barely celebrities. Just as they get paid to run stories on unknown rappers and positive Kardashian stories, they get paid to advertise "yacht girls".Just like the woman can call themselves real models by doing this and selling imaginary bottled water. Gives them something to put on their resume and tax returns.
It’s so weird, I commented this morning but my comment didn’t apparently make the grade. To reiterate: if it’s the the DM, nothing it’s ever done has ever been subtle.

ReplyDeleteI find it a little doubtful that Debra Messing, Tracee Ellis Ross or the Kardashians are yachting.
