This permanent A list singer agreed to record several originals as well as classics for this live action reboot. In return, she got first say in who was cast in the lead role.
That's a good goddamned question. Her music isn't that great and she's a mediocre dancer at best. She and Jay must have a lot of dirt on a lot of people.
Not a great time to sell yourself to Disney. I think Bella opened the floodgates. Just a drip now,but something is coming. Beyonce is very talented,so is her husband I mean business partner. But she does seem to have influenced in unlikely ways.
But why would Disney let Beyonce decide? It’s not like they need her on the soundtrack. Plenty of talented artists would do it. Lin Manuel is composing & writing the music, I would think he would have more sway, especially after Moana soundtrack did so well.
I feel like Beyonce is a really hard worker (or at least was in 00's dont really follow her anymore. ) and that was her secret to success. I also wouldn't be surprised if her father didnt pay some kickbacks back in the day to get her and Destiny's Child ahead.
She looks and sounds safe and generic, and has nothing really unique or interesting about her, no genius-level talent .
Gaga annoys me too, but I'll give it to her for being a pop star and taking some risks in her outfits
After seeing Gaga in AHS: Hotel, she bothers me a whole lot less. Can't explain that one either. I've always liked her pop songs and I'm not really a fan of pop. Beyoncé, though, I think she really believe the Beyhive about herself.
Her husband is often thought of as being buoyed by money laundering, which is fueled by the observation that his flaunted wealth does not seem to correspond with any popularity of his "music."
Looking forward to the awkward no-touching love scene in the live action version of The Little Mermaid when her Prince say "you want me to do WHAT all over your eggs? And then you die and wash down stream, and it's your first time? Jeez Ariel, maybe you should check out Fish Finder!"
Black people: How dare Disney only make films about European folk tales!
*Disney Makes Lion King (based on Shakespeare's Richard the III)*
Also Black people: How dare Disney appropriate from Africa! Cultural appropriation!!
Also Black people: Changing Ariel from the Little Mermaid, based on the Story written by Scandinavian Hans Christian Andersen who based it on Scandinavian folklore, from White to Black is "inclusive" and "progressive."
Beyonce is all hype, bought and sold. There are a million Beyonces and truthfully Alicia Keyes, Rihanna, all way more naturally talented. Bey is a money making machine, manufactured and mass distributed. Yawn.
@VikingThong (intentional) Grouping "black people" in a bunch, especially negatively, is bigotry. Kiss my black ass. BTW, Disney's version of the story is not like the original and the original does not depend on race. Except to idiots like yourself. Frickin' mermaids, not uptight racists.
@Viking Song,do you have to make every comment about race? When most people thought Zendaya was going to be Ariel,we were ok with it because it seemed a good fit. And of course, mermaids are fictional, they do not have to be historically accurate. Seems you only want people to start a race argument.
Can we take a moment here, and think of poor Lindsay Lohan? Poor Lindsay Lohan wanted this role. Poor Lindsay Lohan was MADE for this role. Poor Lindsay Lohan was passed over for this role. I’m afraid she’s going to start using drugs and prostituting herself, ya’ll!!
And to clarify my view on this whole argument, it’s a cartoon based on a fairy tale, based on sailors spotting manatees. So, in fact, Ariel should be brown annnnnd not wearing a clamshell bikini top.
For years now, every website with a Beyoncé article is filled with comments from people who hate her. And every single time, people act surprised they are not the “only one”. Y’all are weird. She has one of the biggest anti-fan contingents and always has, stop with the surprised act already. lol
Thia I'm the opposite after AHS Gaga annoyed the shit out of me. Actually that's why I stopped watching. Way over the top. And Beyonce is bland as fuck and tries too hard not to be. It's too transparent. She seems like the shy girl in high school trying to be ratchet to be popular which is just weird
@Krissie - have you not seen AHS: Cult or Roanoke? They both were amazing. Cult was absolutely not what I expected and I thought it was very well done. The only one I haven't liked is the last one, Apocalypse. Too much crammed into one season.
@Thia I stopped watching when Gaga came on whatever season that was. Any season after that I haven't seen. I just wanted to slap Gaga every time she came on screen.
Rhianna, gorgeous as she is, has the dancing talent of Whitney Houston. I do like her vocals better and I'm pretty sure she's still wearing her original face which is atonishing these days.
Beyonce is an excellent showman. A great performer, much like Madonna during her period. It is a genuine skill, being a baller performer, which does not depend on expert level vocals.
I hate Beyonce too. I find her utterly common and a try-hard. She's not an original, she's a weak copy cat. Rihanna and Alicia Keys are originals, whatever they do seems to come effortlessly and cool, while Beoynce's everything is forced. She will never be cool.
I don’t want to see any little mermaid bullshit on this thread- I’ve seen enough of that on IG the past couple of days and it’s beyond depressing there are so many racist, ignorant fucks out there. I look forward to seeing what Halle does with the role. For those complaining about “not being true to the story”, in the original she doesn’t actually marry the prince, she dies and ultimately serves her remaining years as a daughter of the wind doing good deeds for humans. So there’s that.
Beyoncé isn’t average - not a fan of her music but agree with the show-woman comments. Gaga is a talented musician but needs to atop being cast in tv/movies. A Star Was Born was unbearable (also because of Bradley Cooper’s voice-homage to Bob Dylan). Don’t get the snide for Donald Glover. He’s great.
@TwoDots - do you think it's racism or PC fatigue with reboots and remakes? I don't care who plays the Mermaid, I just don't think anyone is asking for another Little Mermaid, etc. Based on box office records and receipts, I think people want new stories and plots and most people don't care who is cast as who - just fresh stories.
Why is perceived as annoying? Is really entitled and "shy/coy" as she is perceived or a really damaged ass like Janet, Celine, Mariah, or the vicious conniver as Diana? I just know she sucks the lift out of everything kind of like Gaga and Madonna.
Beyoncé, Lion King?
ReplyDeleteI hate Beyonce!
ReplyDeleteSo she was responsible for casting Donald Glover? I’m ok with Beyoncé but why does she have all this power.
ReplyDeleteThat's a good goddamned question. Her music isn't that great and she's a mediocre dancer at best. She and Jay must have a lot of dirt on a lot of people.
Delete@Unknown - why? I do too, but for no real reason. LOL. She just annoys me.
ReplyDeleteDid she also cast Ariel in Little Mermaid? Worst casing I've ever seen. Nothing at all like Ariel.
ReplyDeleteBeyonce has to be one of the most annoying celebrities I've ever seen. She doesn't even try to hide her ego. She truly thinks she is royalty.
ReplyDelete@Bloggybutt - I'm so glad it's not just me!
ReplyDelete@Bloggy, Beyoncé manages the sisters so you could be onto something.
ReplyDeleteFAUST! Beyoncé sold her soul and Sasha was born.
ReplyDeleteNot a great time to sell yourself to Disney. I think Bella opened the floodgates. Just a drip now,but something is coming. Beyonce is very talented,so is her husband I mean business partner. But she does seem to have influenced in unlikely ways.

ReplyDeleteShe bugs the shit outa me too, but when I see her performing, I think she's really talented. Weird dichotomy.
ReplyDeleteI feel like Beyonce is a really hard worker (or at least was in 00's dont really follow her anymore. ) and that was her secret to success. I also wouldn't be surprised if her father didnt pay some kickbacks back in the day to get her and Destiny's Child ahead.

ReplyDeleteIs the Lion King a live action reboot?
ReplyDeleteHer husband is often thought of as being buoyed by money laundering, which is fueled by the observation that his flaunted wealth does not seem to correspond with any popularity of his "music."
ReplyDelete@Nor - Yes. https://www.gamesradar.com/lion-king-remake-runtime/
ReplyDeleteIsn't the newly casted Ariel her protege? I remember blinds saying riley keough would be ariel. What happened with that?
ReplyDeleteShe is annoying and full of herself. Totally overrated as a singer with her nasally, limited range voice.
ReplyDeleteLooking forward to the awkward no-touching love scene in the live action version of The Little Mermaid when her Prince say "you want me to do WHAT all over your eggs? And then you die and wash down stream, and it's your first time? Jeez Ariel, maybe you should check out Fish Finder!"

But it's "racist" to point out hypocrisy.
SIRI
DeleteHOW DO I DELETE ANOTHER PERSONS COMMENT
@vikingsong did you really say the Lion King was based on Richard the III?.... it’s a very well known fact that it’s a retelling of Hamlet.
ReplyDeleteDo you lot mind? Keep the inane chittering down please,I'm trying to listen to Wishbone Ash?
ReplyDeleteI’m just so happy that so many people now can’t stand Beyoncé. I’ve never liked her & people used to wanna fight me when I said that. 😂
ReplyDeleteI was afraid to admit I can't stand Beyonce or her music. :)
ReplyDeleteBeyonce is all hype, bought and sold. There are a million Beyonces and truthfully Alicia Keyes, Rihanna, all way more naturally talented. Bey is a money making machine, manufactured and mass distributed. Yawn.
ReplyDeleteYou're right, @Elana. It's been years since I last watched it. The point, however, still remains.
ReplyDeleteDidn’t JayZ lose interest in fucking Halle after she turned 18?
ReplyDeleteJayZ and Beyoncé are fucking evil. Ppl worship Beyoncé and I don’t get it. She hasn’t had a chart/radio hit in years.

ReplyDeleteY’all know it’s 2019 and it’s cool to cast a black woman as Ariel......
ReplyDeleteRihanna > Beyonce. Not sure where all this devotion to her came because she's up to par with JLO in talent and I don't like JLO.
ReplyDeleteOh this is Beyoncé
ReplyDeleteThe crackerbots are out in full force today.
ReplyDeleteBella's rapist wasn't from Disney btw.

ReplyDeleteI still believe Galadriel Stineman would be a perfect Ariel.
ReplyDeleteI do not believe this for a second. There is no way a singer, any singer has this kind of influence. This was made up.
ReplyDelete@Krissie - have you not seen AHS: Cult or Roanoke? They both were amazing. Cult was absolutely not what I expected and I thought it was very well done. The only one I haven't liked is the last one, Apocalypse. Too much crammed into one season.

ReplyDeleteloved beyonce 10 yrs ago, but since jayz she's annoying. faux black. faux love. faux political. faux reformer.
