This alliterate matriarch/former actress has been cutting family members off financially so there are a lot of stories in tabloids trying to make her look bad from those spurned family members.
I feel sorry for Lisa Marie. As messed up as he was, Elvis seemed like the parent who gave her warmth and real love. The mother got her dragged into a cult.
Elvis' estate was at 1 or 2 mil (or some similar sum), I recall reading not long ago. He was generous 'til it hurt' and loved to see someone's face light up when he gifted them a Cadillac. He gave bulletproof vests to various police depts. All sorts of thing like that.
And of course Elvis gave "the Colonel," who was not a Colonel or Southern or even American at all, but a former Yugoslavian who may or may not have had citizenship papers...50 percent of all his earnings, right off the top. He couldn't be persuaded to change that. Loyal to a fault also. (All allegedly; ahem.)
So it was practical Priscilla who got the estate back up to stratospheric profits by opening up Graceland for tours and so on. Word was one of the first things she did was quietly pay off "the Colonel" to go away.
There were rumors Graceland would be closed for tours once Lisa Marie took over the estate (I think at 35 per the will? Not sure?) but that never happened. It was a good money maker.
One of Elvis' relatives lived upstairs at Graceland and that didn't change. Tourists were not allowed upstairs in the family quarters. So I wonder what they're accusing PP of?
And it's a Southern (U. S.) "thing" that you take care of the poor relatives when you are rich. It's done graciously and quietly but it's done. But Priscilla is not Southern. She was an Army brat, raised in Germany.
The gossip was that "Colonel" allegedly arranged for Elvis to be drafted into the Army because the pressure to tour Europe was getting too loud and strong...and the Colonel's lack of 'papers' would've been found out. Whisk him off for a tour of duty. Why WAS Elvis suddenly drafted...during peacetime?
Gladys about had a nervous breakdown and word was began to rely on a little tipple to calm her nerves. The stress allegedly killed her.
Elvis went downhill quickly from the time of his mother's death.
I think it's funny how LMP is turning against PP. When EP died, LMP did NOT call her mother...she called Linda Thompson. That speaks volumes. I absolutely believe EP exuded pure love (when he wasn't off his face) towards LMP. When he died, all was lost. PP was/is part of that cult which tried to get EP's money but he told them to fuck off.
@love...dogs Why would Lisa Marie call Priscilla...who was already en route, with no phone? LMP was left in a room..,and called Linda because her mom couldn’t be reached...she had already been told and was on her way.
LoveMyDogs....as I was reading your post, I saw a hot, young Elvis telling LRon Hubtard to go fuck hisself in a movie, in muh mind. Then I put it on repeat.
coincidentally, I was just reading about Elvis. when he died, he had 5 million in the bank (20 million in today's dollars). not really all that bad, but he had earned 100 million so he had less than 25% of it left. He was generous with everyone he met--buying strangers cars, etc. also, didn't they sell Graceland awhile back? it would explain why Lisa Marie has no money...I guess.
markle moochers?
ReplyDeletePriscilla Presley?
ReplyDelete+1 100 million dollar lawsuit
Deleteyeah...its getting nasty. LMP looks like her dad before he left. little twins are adorable but she made a big mistake marrying their dad.
ReplyDeleteA little less compensation,
ReplyDeleteA little more action.

ReplyDeleteWell played, Flashy Vic. *slow clap*
ReplyDeleteGreat job, Porcelain 1! While Priscilla is the reason the Elvis estate has any money left, she did bring them into s ci o, etc.
ReplyDeleteExcellent, Flashy! πΆπ

ReplyDeleteI remember reading that the Colonel was a Dutchman possibly wanted for a murder in Rotterdam.
ReplyDeleteThanks Flashy - now that song is stuck in my head :)
ReplyDeleteCome on,come on, c'mon, c'mon.....
ReplyDeleteWouldn't surprise me, Vic.
ReplyDeleteIIRC "Colonel" was a carnival barker before his eyes lit up at the sight of Elvis the Pelvis playing local gigs.

Elvis went downhill quickly from the time of his mother's death.
But while in Germany, he met Priscilla.
Lisa Marie has been hitting the Golden Corral buffet a little too hard lately.

ReplyDeleteIt was awesome!!
Thank you Sam the 1st for all the Elvis tea. I did not know those facts.
ReplyDeleteI enjoy picturing a Elvis using his gun as a tv remote. Hasn't everyone had those nights where there's nothing to watch?

ReplyDelete@Vita We have BBC and ITV. Elvis would have a Gatling gun set up in his living room.
ReplyDeleteToday I learned Elvis was a super generous guy who enjoyed the gift of giving. That's really nice.
ReplyDeleteBlissBoo: you're welcome. Thank you for saying so. I'm very glad if you found it entertaining.
ReplyDelete"Thank you Sam the 1st for all the Elvis tea. I did not know those facts."
The documentary "The Searcher" on HBO delves into the Colonel... it broke my heart.
