Blind Item #4

Whether it is because of the deaths or not, the rum of this A list actor is picking up orders left and right, and not just from the neighboring country. Apparently the word has spread and hotels on several island countries have started buying the rum for fear there guests will also be killed if they don't.

  2. I love that Enty is sticking with this tainted rum story that he has insider knowledge of.
Don't veer from this amazingly true story ent!

    Also, it's "THEIR*

  3. This story is so bizarre. I wonder when we will get an answer as to what the hell is going on. Anyone who travels to that country now has to be nuts. Are we at 8 deaths?

  4. Scouting infielders and all inclusive hooker resorts are the only reasons to go the the DR.

  5. Is Penn that clever and smart??

  6. This is totally moronic, even for Enty. Is there not any kind of a tragedy he can't exploit with his Qanon bullshit?

    ReplyDelete
  7. MD-- as Jussie's "alleged" plan proved-- sometimes you put something in motion and it catches a life of its own!

Whether this is Penn (who makes most sense according to blinds) or someone else, at the very least this will lead to manslaughter charges, no? Might even be considered terrorism, a la tainted tylenol. Whatever the case, lives have been destroyed, and how hasnt the bad batch been completely pulled yet?

  8. Hi Krab, this may well be total bullshit, but I don't see it being Qanon bullshit

  9. Sharon Osborne had a very interesting theory on the Talk. Most of the resorts in DR are all-inclusive, and most guests make the most of that. She suggested that perhaps to cut costs, the resorts bought off-brand/homemade liquor. This would explain if the people were drinking at the bars and restaurants. However, I'd think this would have a much larger body count.

If they can trace this to mini bars, rum specifically, I'm not seeing where Enty's blind's theory is off...particularly since, on the business front, the plan has worked. It's diabolical and outrageous, but we've often seen truth be stranger than fiction.

    2. This very well may be true, Vita. Cutting costs, buying cheaper home brew rum... Totally logical. What *Isn't* logical, and what Krab and others here (party poopers) are saying, is How does Enty justify using major headlines as an opportunity to make a blind out of heartbreak, disaster, and tragedy?
Things like this draw into question every blind, ever. These are BIG allegations. All for click$$?

    3. *EVERY SINGLE* major headline, that is

  10. one way or the other - one of the rums in question is "Clairin"
a new, hip happening rum made from sugar cane rather than molasses

    modeled after homebrew rum...
    very chic

I'm guessing that it is the "safe" rum owned by the actor's LLC....but no proof on that.

  11. Interesting! Different distilling process that creates something toxic? Whatever the case, this is a great (and tragic) mystery.

    ReplyDelete
  12. Clooney's brand was tequila, and he sold it.

    ReplyDelete
  13. From what I understand about distilling, and it's legal to buy the kits in Canada (it's a gray area like hydroponic equipment), but the first run when boiling off the alcohol, it that it's toxic. Windex basically. And that these clowns must have used it in the whisky. The obvious answer is that it's bootleg liquor, and the local authorities have been paid off. They don't care about the odd gringo dropping dead, but now it's attracting international media attention and affecting the economy.
They share the island with Haiti, and that country is verging towards being a failed state. A friend who travels there with a humanitarian group that delivers medical aid- surgery, dental you name it, says that you have to have armed guards with you. It's a desperate place, with desperate people. Easy to see how a rich foreigner could take advantage of the situation.

  14. Look, it's kinda obvious what's happening with the booze in the DR. Someone or something are buying homemade hooch with exceedingly high levels of ethanol replacing it with top shelf booze and pocketing the difference. Could the low grade bathtub quality hooch be coming from a top shelf producer, as well? Sure, but WHY? The resorts are controlled by the cartels and need a certain amount of safety to insure old Boomers waste their kids inheritance there and dead Americans ain't helping their bottom line.

  15. What Rosie said. Of course it's pretty obvious what's happening in the DR but does Enty have to imply that the "A list actor" is killing people to buy his rum?

It's like what a commenter said last week (or this week, who the hell knows). Yes of course human trafficking including child sex trafficking goes on. That doesn't mean Beyonce/Angie/Clooney et al are the heads of the rings. Come on already.

    Or again, Devonte Hart.

  16. Look, I have come to accept that most of the blinds here concerning pedophilia (like the ones about Spielberg or Kubrick or that ridiculous Polanski/De Niro story or that person who was totally going to expose Don Henley), death (everything to do with Bourdain), and sex trafficking (does anyone honestly believe that Jay-Z and Beyoncé and Clooney are trafficking people? Really?) are probably not true and are clickbait for a certain audience.

Now that does NOT mean that pedos or murderers or sex traffickers don't exist, in life or in Hollywood, just that this site is not a reliable source of anything and will try to exploit tragedies for its own gain.

I'm fairly certain this blind is complete bullshit, BTW.

  20. A-list actor: Danny DeVito.
After the episode of It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia that took place on a Jersey beach, he actually developed a real-life Rum Ham.
The main issue is that when the ham is finally tainted, the rum is wasted.

  21. Now anyone who has had a bad clam at a DR hotel in the past six months is a “victim.”

As Hannibal Lector said, “Maybe the pattern is too random.”

    ReplyDelete
  22. What the fuck?? This isn't just about a bad clam this is ten people dead and a woman beaten to near death in a very short amount of time. While things do happen, remember Jack in the box and the bad burgers that killed several? The fact that there are no definitive answers yet is worrisome. Everyone is saying the booze but has that been substantiated?

  23. The government of the DR is saying they were ‘natural deaths’.

  24. Vacation in 3rd world countries, have 3rd world problems.

    ReplyDelete
  25. Why only Americans?
The Swedes go to Spain, and Florida.
The Brits go someplace warm in Europe, Greece.
It's because the US is the closest to the DR. Mexicans aren't going to vacay there.

If alcohol isn't distilled correctly, it becomes poison. All those who said it's homemade rum are correct. The resorts are buying from home producers, and someones don't know what they're doing.

    ReplyDelete
  26. The main income for DR is tourism. The local government will cover the fact that it might be dodgy liquor at all costs. I don't believe it is something more sinister than someone trying to cut costs and there being a cover up by the local bigwigs to keep the tourist dollars flowing.

    ReplyDelete
  27. The FBI is investigating the deaths and tainted alcohol IS one of the possibilities. Instead of calling Enty a conspiracy theorist, why not just do a simple Google search? Several outlets are reporting the same.

  28. Rabbit, there are tons of Europeans vacationing in DR, otherwise all of the major airlines wouldn't have flights going to the DR. If this is only Americans it is most definitely suspicious.

  29. Rosie and Krab--thanks for the clarifications, I guess I see it a little differently. As this is a celeb gossip blog, if in some way there is a celeb tie-in (in this case, a celeb being one of many investors), it is a tidbit that is included. I guess I dont invest in ring-leader stuff until there's proof? But, I have seen enough creepy stuff proven true (hello, alison mack), that my "huh?" file is bigger than my "get the f out of here!" pile.

    ReplyDelete
  30. Ok, back to DR stuff...if it is bootleg rum (that sounds sooo piratey!), It would be used in the dining/bar/pool areas where mixed drinks are served. A much larger portion of visitors would be getting sick/dying, right? Also, wouldn't a high ethanol/methanol taste be noticeable/induce vomiting, even blindness before you could ingest fatal quantities?

It SEEMS much more plausible that this could be the sealed mini bar bottles of the popular local brand (that was allegedly tainted with God only knows what by its Haitian rival), as fewer guests would bother with those when they can get served already mixed drinks. However, I dont have an explanation as to why only American tourists have been victims.

    ReplyDelete
  31. @Unknown 2 Probably because enty has indulged in numerous conspiracy theories over the years that have never panned out.

Is this a possibility? Sure. Have stranger and more diabolical things (like NXIVM) been proven true? Yes! Am I going to maintain a healthy level of skepticism for all the reasons Krab and Rosie outlined? You betcha.

  32. Molasses is made from sugar cane.
Rum can be also made from sugar cane juice.
I know this because my brother-in-law owns a distillery that makes rum.

    ReplyDelete
  33. Vita, I can say (as a retired doctor) that your reasoning is correct. I'd expect more people to be ill and not dead. Some of these people died within hours of pulmonary oedema, and there's not mention that they had been vomiting all over the place.
It will be interesting to see what the toxicology tests show.

    ReplyDelete
  34. Thanks for the medical back-up, Michelle (my real name, too!😊). It will, indeed, be interesting to see the toxicology reports. Whatever the case may be, I want the mystery solved asap, with no cover-ups or shenanigans. It's the least they can do for these families

  35. Unknown, Rosie and Krab-- Agreed that healthy skepticism is always a wise M.O.!
