Blind Item #1
One half of this former A+ list foreign duo everyone wishes would stop feuding and finally get back together again, is back on drugs again. That itself, is probably going to delay things. There had been hope a few months ago from someone mutually and equally close to the duo.
the gallagher brothers? from oasis? I have no idea, they were never A+ here in the states but abroad I know they can be listed as such.
ReplyDeletelove champagne supernova tho, great song!
Liam and Noel Gallagher
ReplyDeleteLiam being the one back on drugs.
DeleteDammit Liam!
ReplyDeleteI do NOT wish they would get back together - Oasis: one of the most overrated bands of the 90’s/00’s.
ReplyDeleteAgreed, TwoDots.
ReplyDelete@TwoDots.
ReplyDeleteSpot on. Though I'd say 'of all time' rather than just the 90s.
Totally underwhelming, not Beatle wannabes but this rate Beatle tribute band wannabes.
'Third' not 'this'.
ReplyDeleteWho cares about them that much? Overrated assholes.
ReplyDeleteI love Oasis. Still do.
ReplyDeleteJust to be different: Ray and Dave Davies of the Kinks
ReplyDeleteOasis are great but peaked with Whats the Story, so by the time they entered the US market, their best music was behind them. There are some really good Brit acts like Oasis or Robbie Williams that are massive in Europe that just don't seem to crossover to american tastes.
@gauloise, it is not American tastes but who is making money off of them and the guys who were saying what gets play time in the US were not their backers. I think things have changed nowadays but then again new music is abysmal at best.
ReplyDeleteThey sold more albums than any other band in the world in the '90s. Most of you writing them off probably know FA about them or know anything about music.
ReplyDelete@Robert I don't know, back in the day I would try to get my american friends to listen to Oasis and Robbie Williams and all of them were like "meh".
ReplyDeleteThey liked Wonderwall and Angels from Williams (which i think is one of his most bland hits, tbh) but couldn't get them into anything else. This is with a bunch of different people. it is just from my personal experience, not about the radio industry or anything.
Why would Oasis reunite?
ReplyDeleteNoel Gallagher has enough money for a lifetime, and is now able to record and release albums which are getting decent reviews and decent sales. Plus, he has now in his band the drummer and the other guitar player from Oasis, who had previously sided with Liam and joined Beady Eye. He seems to be perfectly happy, and doesn't try too hard to cash in on the '90s nostalgia.
And he definitely doesn't want to do a reunion only for the money with a long tour and a subpar album, just like Blur did.
@VikingSong
ReplyDeleteI think Oasis are overrated trash and I say this as a musician myself.
Besides, not sure the "biggest selling 90s band in the world" applies because Metallica released "The Black Album" in 1992 and it's pretty much the biggest selling album of all time, with millions of copies still being sold to this day on a weekly basis.
Noel's too busy with his High Flying Birds to want to do an Oasis reunion, and has said as much when asked before.
Thanks for nothing Liam!
ReplyDeleteI thought it was reported a few months ago the Gallaghers had settled things between them and were talking about projects?
ReplyDeletesandybrook, I noticed a very recent DM headline saying one brother had denied the other permission to use their songs in a documentary.
ReplyDeleteFunny how Liam is now the good guy and Noel the utter c***. F*** this band, since Alex is also an utter tory c*** the only good Britpop band is Pulp.
