I have had blinds about some of the individuals in today's big blind. The blinds all talked about how they used their celebrity to do what they wanted to female parishioners in their church where they grew up. Until I spoke to this A-/B+ list female singer though, I had no idea just how bad ll of this was.
Our singer started recording when she was about 13. She was signed by a management company that also represented the celebrities from this church. The person who signed her was a good two decades older than her at the time. He was in his early 30's and she is 13 or 14. She was told it would be best for her career if she started attending this church and could develop "friendships" with the other singers so they would be able to work better together. So, she started attending. She was also told that she needed to pick one of the guys who were probably 18 or 19 at the time to be in a relationship with because it would be better for her image. So, she picked one and was told she needed to start having sex with him too because she didn't want to rock the boat or disturb the good working relationship everyone had.
So, she started a relationship with this singer who at the time was close to A list. He would always cheat on her with other women and she finally moved on from him and started dating the singer's brother. Well, apparently the man who signed her didn't give his permission for this and the only way she could get his permission was to have sex with him. So, she had sex with this 30 something year old guy and was told from then on she would always have to when he asked. He asked a lot.
She was told the only way all of this would stop was if she got pregnant because then no one would want her. So, she tried all the time to get pregnant and did so while still a teen. They did leave her alone. They also dropped her as a client and she had to rebuild without them. It has been a long road and she has dozens of stories to tell about all the guys in the record industry who used her and others and who continue to try and use her including her on again off again A- list boyfriend who is always leaving her for some new singer or someone more famous and then comes back for a week or two before moving on again.

ReplyDeleteI'm thinking this could be more of a gospel church than Hillsong. Everyone jumps on Hillsong (and rightly so), but this blind just seems to have more to it than the traditional Hillsong/Biebs/Selena blind.

I first thought the church was Scio and the brothers Masterson, but can't think of a singer that fits (though my knowledge on that subject would be woeful at best anyway) and it would have had to have been at least twenty years ago too.

DeletePuff Daddy, Missy Elliot, Timbaland Aaron Hall, Ginuwine, Jodeci and others were all spent time at Christ Tabernacle Pentecostal Church which was founded in the 1970s in Charlotte NC by the Reverend Donald DeGrate. DeGrate was also a recording artist on WORD (a gospel label), and served as a mentor to many of those acts.

@Moose Devante in Jodeci helped developed a lot of artists like Missy and Timbaland. I just can’t figure out the singer. But I agree it might be connected to their dad Reverend de grate.

I'm wondering if the younger singer could be Tweet - she would have been A-/B+ in the nineties. She got involved with Swing Mob, and with the whole collective of Christ Tabernacle when she was in her early teens. If you look at her Wiki page, she got depressed and left the business and went home (could she have been pregnant?) then Missy called her to come back and record with them again.

Gay shame has been a recruiting tool for religions since year dot. "You're a sinner but we're all sinners. Now pray a bit, keep up appearances, start a sham family, and go cheat on your wife every month with a male prostitute. Confess your sins each month and start anew." Maybe if people were just allowed to be what they wanted then they'd be less collateral damage and a lot less hypocrisy.
ReplyDeleteIf people really want to have some sort of relationship with a personal god then they should take the biblical advice and avoid the middle-men who act as religious emissaries but really just want control over people. If they really need that. Personally, I think a person's reach shouldn't exceed their grasp when it comes to these things.
As it is gullible idiots flock to the weirdest religions and cults and then everyone's shocked when the head honcho isn't some positive force but instead turns the operation into some sort of tax-dodging, less than minimum wage paying, brothel...sometimes with added guns and drugs. At what point do you learn to run away from the person who thinks they are some sort of spiritual guru? When he wants to share your wife? When he dictates who your friends should be? When he wants your kids?
Just manipulative humans working the gullible or desperate ones for everything they've got. Same as ever.
