This foreign born still very young A- list mostly television actress won't be that high for long. Her hit show is ending. She is having trouble booking anything because she won't do the casting couch thing.
Maisie Williams

Maisie Williams
Good for her. She has an app or something, right? I could see her being semi-retired from acting after GoT.
ReplyDeleteGood for you Maisie! You will get work somewhere because you have fans.
ReplyDeleteSucks, but good for her!
ReplyDeleteYeah when #TimesUp was being led by legendary couchers you knew it was bullshit.
ReplyDeleteThe North remembers pervs.
It's sad that still the best advice you can give aspiring thespians is to get good at s*cking c0ck and bending over desks.
ReplyDeleteI say this knowing that Maisie has a nonstandard look but she's been in front of the public for years and we've gotten used to her so there is no good reason why she can't find work. This is deeply depressing. Nothing has changed. Just a lot of virtue signaling and noise to protect the status quo.
ReplyDeleteI happy she's standing up for herself..
ReplyDeleteDamn you have to act and sleep with some old stinky ass man ------NO WAY
Good for her
I fear she might go the Emma Watson route of quirky looking actress growing up and failing to throw off huge franchise.
ReplyDeleteSaying that, Maisie is ten times the actress Watson is and waaaay more intelligent - not that that's a big hurdle to leap as Watson would give a bag of marbles a close finish in a spelling bee.
I wish her well but don't think she'll need my good wishes.
By the way does anyone else remember the blind about here here about two years or so ago?
Enty breathlessly sniggered that she was seen in a trendy LA restaurant having dinner with a guy old enough to be her father....the shock and pearl clutching horror of it all!
This prospective despicable lech turned out to be....well....her father.
Maisie could do the UK period drama thing and be OK, her look is very unique.
ReplyDeleteIt's a little sad to think that the only way to get a job in Hollywood is sleep with everyone. I mean there isn't one person there that has morals? Good for Maisie though for refusing to give up her self respect for some money.
ReplyDelete@Violet617
ReplyDeleteA very good point. She was practically born to play Jane Austen's Emma. Trouble is that I think the world is pretty much just about Austened out at the minute.
@Flashy Vic, Nothing like meeting a woman's father and realizing that he bears a casual resemblance to you. Is she sticking with the family's preferred model of man or are you the new daddy?😅
ReplyDeleteShe is too damn talented not to work.
ReplyDelete+1 Huckleberry! -- She commanded so many difficult scenes on that show from age 12 on! She'll find good roles, or start developing her own projects. I remember one great character actor (& of course I dont remember his name) saying something like, "I don't have a leading man face, but there arent many good leading man roles. More often than not, the supporting roles are where the fun and challenges are." So, if she focuses on interesting roles, rather than just trying for leads, she could find endless work and continued success, and the griss producers can stuff it
ReplyDeleteThat should be gross...grissly might work, too...either way, they can stuff it
ReplyDelete@Huckleberry.
ReplyDeleteThere's the scene in GoT where Arya and the Hound run into the Lannister soldiers at the inn that ambushed Arya on the way to the Wall and killed her friend with 'Needle'.
When Arya gets 'Needle' back and then has the soldier that murdered her pal on the ground then slowly pushes 'Needle' up into his chin and into the brain - well the look that Maisie puts on Arya's face at that second is crazily scary and wonderful bit of acting. We realise this wasn't only revenge, this was pleasure. In less than a second our opinions on her change from a boisterious, rough, abused but likeable 12 year old tomboy, into an obvious driven sadistic psychopath on a mission.
Though still likeable in a perverse way, though psychopaths usually are.
The only other time that one look conveyed so much in GoT was the chilling, gut wrenching look of utter despair on Tyrion's face when the Mountain crushed the skull of Oberon with his bare hands and so (seemingly) condemned Tyrion to certain execution.
Then Dinklage is really a God honouring we mortals with his presence in our cursed earthly realm anyway. So no surprise there.
We can but hope for many Tyrion and Arya scenes in the last season. Theyalone would make the wait worthwhile.
Anyway, I cannot wait until Monday week!
She should do theater for a while and build her portfolio. There's a lot of pervs in theater, too, but it's more avoidable, I think. Like, it's not a requirement in order to work.
ReplyDeleteIntegrity. Love it, You go Woman.
ReplyDeleteThere are a lot of actresses and actors that have trouble booking new work after long running series ends. At least she was smart enough to stay until the end and not leave to pursue other career options.
ReplyDeleteGood for her!
ReplyDeleteArya and Sansa are scissor sisters in real life. Just watch the two interview together. They aren't on the couch because they are in the sewing circle. Not a lot of roles to go around for them even if they are willing to bake cookies or muffins or whatever carpet mucnhkins in that set do to get work.
ReplyDelete@ Flashy Vic and Vita
ReplyDeleteGreat points, one and all! If I may share my favorite scenes from those two:
The best Arya scene (besides every single one with Ned) is the scene after the hound loses his fight with Brienne and ends up begging Arya to kill him. The way she just coldly stares at him while he desperately tries to anger her was sheer brilliance.
My favorite Dinklage moment was the scene when Oberon comes to his jail cell to tell him he will fight for him. His face as Oberon describes the time he saw him as a baby was great. The roller coaster of emotions that he displays as someone finally acknowledges that he is not a monster is one of my favorite moments.
Maisie Williams delivered on acting year after year, and she didn't get to rely on dragons or zombies or battles. If she wants it she'll get cast in something decent, she's an international celebrity. We're talking hours and hours of episode time watched by millions globally over the years. She's not like the newest superhero or YA book based bimbo or whoever.
ReplyDeleteshe is my favourite. I hope she kills Cersei or gets the throne. Can’t friggin wait. Roles will be coming for her.
ReplyDeleteRock on, Maisie!
ReplyDeleteGreat scenes mentioned, getting me so excited for the season! Even the first season, when Ned got beheaded, you could really feel her whole world change to survival and vengeance on her silent face. 12 yrs old!
Yep, I do think she'll do well. And those couch casters better hope she didn't keep Needle as a souvenir!😉
She made it this far. No reason she should not have continued success.
ReplyDeleteSo happy to hear this! She's a great actress and I hope she sticks to her guns on this! She had to make some bank on that show...I hope she does something smart with it so she can ditch the filthy entertainment industry if necessary and move on to something else. It would be a shame to deprive the world of her acting talent, though. She has many, many fans rooting for her!
ReplyDeleteShe has talent and experience. She can continue to work and keep her soul intact. She is smart to diversify in apps and hopefully investments. She doesn't have to couch or fake date a Jonas brother to stay relevent.
ReplyDeleteSo, how did she get the GoT role in the first place? No casting couch?
ReplyDeleteso, why aren't you outing the sleaze-balls that ask for sexual favours? rather than the victims? screw you
ReplyDeleteThat sure explains why Emilia Clarke and Sophie Turner are getting roles, because they are both really crappy actors. Maisie can act both of them into the ground.
