They still let the aging permanent A- list singer into the country to perform, BUT there was finally at least a discussion which would never have happened before, about barring him because of his history of statutory rape. The deciding factor to let him in was there had never been any criminal proceeding initiated by any victim.

Gotta go to the police.
ReplyDeleteCan't wait to see him next time he's in Northern California. Post-Pop Depression show with Josh Homme was a barnburner.
"Lust for Tikes?" "The Kiddiebanger?"
ReplyDeleteWell sh!t, with "Real Wild Child" and "Candy" he wasn't even being subtle.
Look Away
ReplyDeleteI slept with Sable when she was thirteen
Her parents were too rich to do anything
Ugh. Not that they still wouldn't be a problem, but im hoping these incidents were from when he was in his drug addled early 20s?
ReplyDeleteThey were from that time period, but even then, he was known for liking especially young girls. Please Kill Me is an amazing book about the origins of the punk scene, and there are plenty of stories in there about him raping (because that’s what it is) pubescent girls.
DeleteI think he's sort of well-behaved now.
ReplyDeleteI'm a huge fan of his, but if there are police complaints, have at him.
But apparently there aren't.
Whoa. Did not expect him for this BI. Not even close.
ReplyDeleteSable is dead. I do not know if the stories of him and her sister were true.
ReplyDelete@Lyss16 got it.
ReplyDeleteThis blind is just Enty spinning stuff to look righteous regarding statutory rape and child molestation. Most of the recent stories published here on this issue appear to be fabrications to smear a few celebrities (like the James Gunn, Dan Harmon or Steven Spielberg numerous blinds). By reminding the readers of older stories, obscure but somewhat documented "deep cuts", Enty depicts himself as a noble crusader who will leave no stone unturned in the pursuit of truth and justice. While he's just pushing an agenda established by a few 4chan morons.
ReplyDeleteIt's very likely that Iggy Pop never had this conversation with the authorities. Just like nobody considers charging a 89-year-old Robert Wagner for Natalie Wood's death in 1981.
he is absolutely so gross that he makes me sick to my stomach. freaking put your damn shirt on. no body wants to see that!!
ReplyDelete@Angela,this story of Iggy is not a deep cut to me or others who followed Iggy's career in real time from the late sixties.I followed Sable's life as well. Like many who live through this, she led a life of being physically and emotionally abused. Her life is a common result, not Lori Maddox who considered it an honor. 13 is not statutory rape, it is rape. I was and still am a fan of his music, but it is hard to see him the same way I did when I was young. And many cases are brought up from long ago,Bill Cosby, priests and even ordinary people. What age do you consider to be a cutoff?
ReplyDeleteAlso,Lori Maddox exaggerated her story, any Bowie fan knows she didn't lose her virginity to him. She surely wouldn't be walking about too easy afterwards. She also changed the story about three times.
ReplyDeleteAngela .....those who do these horrible things to children get by with it because people find it so repugnant they don't want to admit it/ have too much to lose by being honest about what they see...either reputation, losing jobs, risk of being thought conspiracy theorists. All the names you mentioned are in many many places. Esp. Speilberg. One way to know, if they make millions upon millions , are very popular and found to be pedaphiles, nothing happens. ...unless you are black. i.e Bill Cosby. Enty is courageous.
ReplyDeleteBill Cosby and Gary Glitter and Subway Jared and that Jeffrey guy.
ReplyDeleteTotally racist.
I WAS RIGHT!!!! I think I was the only one that got it? Well I’ve finally peaked lol
ReplyDeleteThanks guesser for pointing this out!
Party On, Lyss16! Well done!🏆
ReplyDeleteAlso,@Angela, nowhere does the blind say Iggy discussed this with authorities. Just that someone thought it should be considered.
ReplyDeleteI'm not trying to defend Iggy Pop.
ReplyDeleteI'm just pointing out that Enty periodically exhumes well documented old statutory rape stories to accompany the fresher pieces. It's easy to pick something about Bill Wyman, Kiss, Motley Crue, Elvis or Led Zeppelin. Some of the stories have been public for decades, and anyone with an interest in rock music has read or heard about it. This kind of behavior was unfortunately tolerated then. Public urination was regarded as a more serious charge, actually.
Then, alluding to these stories in blind items allows Enty to produce some "true" blind items... which are not blind items at all, because they're featured in most of the biographies. And producing a series of true and "proven" blind items about these old stories gives more weight to the other similar blind items that are published about current celebrities and their alleged crimes, as the source is regarded as more trustable.
If you want to spread a lie, you don't put it next to other lies. You put it in the company of true stories that allow you to present yourself as a trustable source.
So I don't think that Enty gives a fuck about Iggy Pop or Sable Starr.
I don't think there was any discussion about allowing Iggy Pop in Australia, simply because exhuming the story could result in a backlash against the government about priorities and double standards (it doesn't look Iggy Pop has indulged in anything of that sort for decades and there may be a couple of stories about local celebrities that would deserve more merit than this one).
It's just an opportunity for Enty to recycle an old documented story into a blind item under the pretense of a new development, which didn't happen. By informing his readers that Iggy Pop had sex with a 13 year old girl in the seventies, he presents himself as a true opponent of child abuse and statutory rape, which in return gives more weight to other similar allegations... true or false.
I used the Robert Wagner comparison for a good reason. That was a blind item that Enty pushed again a few months ago, and it just makes no sense to mention new developments in the investigation and the possibility of charges being pressed.
Even if Wagner was guilty and a murderer, no district attorney would press charges on a 88 (now 89)-year old celebrity about a possible crime that's always been very murky. He would get people supporting him. If he's in good health and has all his mind, he would also hire good lawyers who would delay a trial for years. In the end he would likely die before the trial starts. So, the case built by the D.A. would start by being very controversial and then turn out to be a waste of time and taxpayer money.
Likewise, Australian authorities wouldn't have a discussion today about letting Iggy Pop go to Australia because of some statutory rape that took place in the seventies (and outside of Australia) with no charges ever pressed. Australian authorities have other stuff to deal. Had they gone further on that road and refused him to go there, it would have brought back to light some unsavory aspects of Pop's life, but the authorities would have also been ridiculed and asked about what they're doing to protect their current-day children rather than focusing on a 50-year-old story involving a celebrity and taking place in America.

DeleteOnly thing I know about Iggy Pop is that Soupy Sales' son was his drummer? Read a Sales interview decades ago and was somehow shocked that nutty Soupy had a 'cool' son.
ReplyDeleteTwo cool sons. They also worked with Todd Rudgren and were members of the band Tin Machine with David Bowie. Hunt and Tony Sales.
DeleteAwww
Delete.i.miss Soupy!!
Hunt Sales just released an album within the last month or two. It is fantastic.
ReplyDeleteSd Auntie, pie in the face!
