It is the trend nowadays. Mel B, Demi, Selena, Ariana, Sophie Turner, Miley, .....etc.
They resort to trendy gimmicks when the publicity and sales start declining. It is sad. Furthermore, transparent which is why I do not think any of the above will stand the test of time. To me it has less to do with their sexuality and everything to do with publicity.
To be fair, this blind can be applied to all female pop stars. They don't do it for female empowerment, they do it to appeal to guys and their fantasies of women.
It's almost like people aren't smart enough to realize a bitch can be thirsty AND bisexual. Thursday, it's more likely to be about a combination of empowerment through bad girl rebellion and publicity. Shit isn't so black and white.
Pop stars aren't selling music, talent or any sort of product; they sell themselves. That's why every one of them has to incessantly tell us about their sexuality, political views, diets, workouts, etc.
It is so tacky of Ariana Grande because society is apathetic to young female celebrities claiming to be bisexual. In fact, I think the public understand it is a pathetic publicity trick to appear edgy. The double standard is male singers like Shawn Mendes cannot come out as gay or bisexual because it is career suicide. The homophobia and prejudice male celebrities go through is extreme. Women got it easier.
She's just another GUG like Miley, Cara, et al. That means "Gay until graduation," though I doubt any of these women will ever experience college campus life.
Ya think? ;)
ReplyDeleteCan’t she just go away already?
ReplyDeleteThank you! I made a comment about this on Twitter and people were all over me about it.
ReplyDeleteLike with Taylor Swift, there's no surefire way of knowing every single person she's been attracted to or slept with.
ReplyDeleteI would have assumed that she was cokesexual, as in she'll f*ck whatever has the blow.
ReplyDeleteNobody bought it or gave two shits so it seems to have disappeared
ReplyDeleteWe sure as hell know every male she was linked with was either gay or in it for the publicity.
ReplyDeleteOr had good drugs for her to share.

She's never out of the media, like, exhaustively overexposed, so all of it just starts canceling itself out as white noise.
