ReplyDeleteInterestingly, when I tried to Google what Omar had said about September 11 - something that set off Dan Crenshaw, but I couldn't remember what it was - Google presented me with numerous articles about what a fine woman Omar is.
ReplyDeleteThe Guardian, The Daily Beast, the Washington Post, Vox, etc. all told me that there was a "plot against Omar" and that she was "as American as anyone" and there had been a "willful misreading of her comments" but I ended up having to go to Crenshaw's Twitter to find out what the comments actually were.
Guess 'cause Bethany has dirt on Andy she also has carte blanche to do whatever. Not that Andy makes great decisions on his own.

@E Yeah, I'm not a big Omar fan, and I doubt many American Muslims are either.
What I think was odd - which was the point of my original comment - is that Google directed me exclusively to Omar cheerleading stories.
No critical piece from a Jewish publication? Nothing from a non-racist conservative publication like The Federalist or The National Review? Why am I being guided towards a specific point of view as if it were the only point of view?
I was interviewed the other day for somebody's academic paper on Digital Trust, and I could have used this as a good example of why people *should not* trust digital media or at least search engines.
As it is, I mentioned the Greenpeace case - the guy who was one of the founders of Greenpeace, then woke up and found it had been erased from Google.
I voted for Ilhan, she is representing her district well. Boo hoo.

ReplyDeleteThis is one of the complaints I've heard about AOC - big national presence, no constituent services. I'm not sure she's even opened a district office.
Was Omar's predecessor Keith Ellison good at constituent services?
Oddly enough, the person I've had the best experience with in terms of taking care of her constituents was Hillary Clinton when she was New York Senator. She spent an enormous amount of time on those little upstate New York towns and the people who lived there.

Nene and Bethenny are on those shows because they deliver ratings and focus groups say the two are important to the franchises. Cohen just follows what works. The ladies are vomits - especially Theresa. He believes those shows can live for decades like soap operas with rotating talent and legends.
ReplyDelete@Hunter, I'm not sure if you're American, but every Senator or Congressperson has an office in his or her district.
ReplyDeleteIt's where the people he or she is representing get in touch with their delegate and ask for their help with local matters - repairs to the local Federal building, funding for local educational efforts, regulatory changes that would benefit local industries, help with bad mail delivery, etc.
AOC represents the Bronx, and she needs to have a fully-staffed office there.
Ilhan is a garbage person who supports a garbage religion.
