I was working at the Beverly Center at the height of 90210's fame. Had the experience of crazy girls chasing him and had to lead him down 3 flights of stairs via an emergency exit so he and his friend could leave safely. Nice guy.
Wow very sad. I didn’t know-! Last heard was in hospital. It didn’t seem good though. Safe passage.... and lots of great memories huddled up to the TV with cheap wine(it was college) and popcorn waiting for 90210 night❤️
For those saying drugs are involved, as far as I heard, Luke was clean. Strokes are a weird one medically as you can be perfectly fit and feel fine one minute and then the next minute you are not.
However, I hope they pull the 90210 reboot and I can see them trying to capitalize off his death.
I don't think it was drugs. I had read that he recently had back surgery. Blood clots and strokes are a risk factor from any type of surgery. In any event, too soon, too young. RIP.
I heard a rumor that he had a heart attack about a month prior to the stroke, but it was never announced. I wonder if he knew he was in failing health. Just so sudden and unexpected though. Far too young and vibrant. So sad.
I don't know if there was a drug connection, but that was a rough looking 50-year-old. Did he smoke, drink? Lay in the sun like a lizard for hours every day?
It's very sad, way too young. But I have trouble thinking this was a purely natural occurrence.
@Tink try working in a nursing home where having a massive stroke leaves you bed bound, diapers and nonverbal. Some of us have careers and have seen things you would not believe. Heal your heart dear.death is inevitable for all
My heart will never heal after loosing a loved one way too young. You are lovely for helping the elderly. But hearing they are in a better place is no comfort for me. It’s annoying.
I was in high school when 90210 aired. I was never crazy-gaga over him, but my god... I'm WAY more gutted than I ever dreamed I would be. So, so young. I wonder what Riverdale is going to do?
RIP- Luke, prayers for his family and young children, as well.
I See You-- I didnt know about his history of surgery, but you are right about the dangers of clots.
Geez, there are so many random things that can happen in any body at any time. Good health, and just general function, are things that shouldn't be taken for granted, let alone abused, the way so many of us do.
Never saw anything with Perry, none the less, very sad that a youngish man died. Not sure if he took drugs or not. My god daughter, T., suffered a hemorrhagic stroke at 48 yo and drugs were not the cause. Her life has changed- can't walk more than a few steps and her speech is slurred even after lots of therapy. Prayers for his family and friends
So sad to hear Abbyrock. And yes I've met people in their early 30's who have had a massive stroke and Its utterly devastating! Blessings for your daughter!
This was the best soapy teen drama for the first few seasons. Then Brenda left and then Dylan left and it all disintegrated into boring formulaic lifetime drama type stories. Donna Martin graduates! They should have left it there. Luke Perry never had to ask if a look was "James Dean" or "Luke Perry." RIP.
One of my best friends suffered a massive stroke after a minor surgery and passed less than three weeks later. It's utterly devastating. I'm so sorry for his family and friends.
My dad died the same way at the same age years ago and he never did any drugs so, you never know with these things. 90210 was part of my youth, loved Dylan Mckay. this is sad. RIP.
the nicest comment i've ever read about someone who passed:
Dearest Luke, I will forever bask in the loving memories we've shared over the last thirty years. May your journey forward be enriched by the magnificent souls who have passed before you, just like you have done here, for those you leave behind. — Ian Ziering (@IanZiering) March 4, 2019
Wasn't there a blind about a long time secret registered sex offender for child porn a few months back, and wasn't he the number one guess? Am I going crazy? Anyway, RIP.
Enty, thank you for allowing us to share our thoughts and feelings about Luke Perry's passing on your blog.
I am deeply saddened by Luke's passing. I pray that he is truly at peace. I pray that he is in the loving arms of our creator. In Jesus' name I pray that the LORD comforts all those who are in mourning.
Too young. He was an asset to every tv show and movie he was in, you can't say that about most actors. His acting was on point in his last role on Riverdale, never questioned for a second that he was a caring working class father.
Being older, I was past the age of watching 90210. I read his father died at the age of 36 so genetically he may just have ad bad genes. Appeared to be a nice guy so it's sad when they get taken so young.
And an important person in my life. Without exaggeration, I would ask every woman I have ever dated who Breanda in 90210 gave her virginity. If she knew the answer, then I knew the woman was age appropriate, we had 90210 in common, and it opened a discussion about Relationships.
@countervail, I think he had more miles on him than most 52 year olds.... he looks like he partied pretty hard or else maybe he just had bad genes & aged quickly...
Does anybody remember him and Ashley Judd in the movie "Normal Life"? It was an excellent film, well-acted, very underrated. Their chemistry was striking.
Thoughts and prayers to his family. May he rest in peace.
And go give someone you love a hug. You never know when it will be for the last time.
This was not altogether surprising, but it's still pretty devastating. I was right in his target age group when 90210 came out and he was swoon-worthy gorgeous.
52 is very young, yes, but to contradict others who speculated above, from what I've read he wasn't one to appear in gossip rags (or blinds for that matter) and seemed like a really decent, levelheaded guy who didn't let his teenybopper fame go to his head. Did nice things for strangers, was apparently pretty kind and generous, was hardworking and considerate, polite and friendly. Maybe I just wasn't paying attention and deep down he was an asshole, but those aren't the stories people have been sharing. And he'd probably frown upon this sentiment, but it drives me crazy that guys like him go so quickly and assholes like Weinstein are still lingering around. RIP.
One of my closest friends died this way back in November and she was 51. Massive stroke which lead into many more strokes which overtook her brain and killed a lot of it. Her daughter had to pull the plug. It was absolutely devastating. I pray for his loved ones as they deal with something that just makes no sense.
I was not a viewer of 90291 but it was in the ether, you saw it. I haven't seen Riverdale. I'm glad he found a soft landing. I saw him a few times on talk shows where people were shitting their pants over him and his reaction knocked that off. It was a role, and the real man was intentionally kind, mellow and private. He accomplished so much professionally and privately. While he was blessed,
I don't know how I feel, how should I feel, enty? Was he one of the few good ones or should I be sad? I know I loved 90210, loved his character and liked him. But so many of my fave actors have been found to be pigs... if he was a good guy. Let us know. Rip
This makes me sad, but also horrified, because he's my age. I can't help but wonder whether drugs contributed to his massive stroke, because the guy seemed fit enough.
Awfully young for a stroke. When I heard he was in a medically induced coma, I feared the worst: Either staying alive possibly with vascular dementia or in a persistent vegetative state. It might have been for the best he did not survive if the stroke were massive & severe enough. Hard to know & feel very bad for his fans & loved ones.
Just read his daughter rushed home from Africa to be w/him. Makes me wonder if they kept him on life support so that she could say goodbye. Poor kids, poor family.
52, just blows my mind! He did have wrinkles, but he had those on the show. Perhaps he just aged naturally and that is why he seemed so “old?” He still looks better than all of my dad and all of his friends @ 52.
I was always Team Dylan.Praying for all those affected by his passing. I agree, why do Singer/Harvey/etc get to live, while we lose someone who everyone seems to have loved?!?
What got me the most is that he was still lucid when medics arrived. That is a wonderful sign normally. I wonder if he had multiple strokes at the hospital. It just doesn’t seem possible that he is gone!!
And my poor daddy, he was good looking, but even my girlfriend’s didn’t have a dad that looked as good as Dylan McKay @ 52.
Please let me make this very clear. Luke Perry did not do drugs (unless you Count nicotine). Always heard he was the best of the best people. I grew up with 90210 and only watched the new series when an og character was on. RIP Luke. Wish more were like you but so glad you touched so many lives. Sorry most celebrity deaths don't affect me,but this one...
Karma❤- with the Hollyweird crowd, truth is often stranger than fiction.
Right now, a really good one died. No matter the circumstances, the man exuded a beautiful & kind authentic energy. Lets encourage all tin-foilers (me included) to take a well-needed break & let the angel be buried with grace.
Oh my didn't know he died. Had a very troubled life. Good looking guy when he was young obviously. Unable to capitalize on his popularity.
ReplyDeleteVery sad.
ReplyDeleteI just saw this. Really sad. way too young and I am sorry for his kids.
ReplyDeleteI wonder if he used drugs?
ReplyDeleteI came on to ask if drugs were involved too. He was young.
ReplyDeleteWell, I never really followed him that much.
ReplyDeleteI did enjoy Jeremiah.
Condolences to his family, friends, and fans.
Very sad. Words are ultimately meaningless. My thoughts and prayers with his family. RIP Luke Perry.

ReplyDeleteIt was from a massive stroke.
DeleteHe wasn’t even expected to be part of that.
He’s been on a Riverdale making way more money than the rest of them are currently.
Shame, young man
ReplyDeleteHe was always my favorite on 90210 and felt like he was making a decent comeback with Riverdale. Sad for his family, especially his kids. :/
ReplyDeleteVery sad. He was talented, lucky to have re-found fame on Riverdale.
ReplyDeleteHe brought sideburns back, something I'll remember him for.
Massive stroke. Bodies are weird, you never know when some shit's going to happen.
ReplyDeleteBrandon meets Dylan...awwww.
ReplyDeleteHe wasn't going to be part of the reboot. The only one not returning from the original cast, wanted no part of it.
ReplyDeleteQuit talking shit about him. His Riverdale schedule kept him busy.
DeleteI was working at the Beverly Center at the height of 90210's fame. Had the experience of crazy girls chasing him and had to lead him down 3 flights of stairs via an emergency exit so he and his friend could leave safely. Nice guy.
ReplyDeleteway to young. my condolences to his loved ones.

ReplyDeleteWHAT HOLY SHIT - he died?!!?!?!?!?
ReplyDeleteAww. I always liked Luke Perry the best of all the 90210 girls.
always found Jenny Garth the prettiest and thought Shannon Doherty had bulimia teeth.
Sad about Luke, too young.
of all the GUYS I mean - whatever.
ReplyDeletedidn't know he had passed. wow. when they said massive stroke and that he was in a coma, i knew it didn't look good.
ReplyDeletevery sad. :(
He’s off to the Peach Pit in heaven.
ReplyDeleteAbsolutely heartbroken. He will always be my Dylan. Will always be Team Dylan and Brenda!!!!
ReplyDeleteI’m sad. 90210 was THE show in the 90’s.
ReplyDeleteFor those saying drugs are involved, as far as I heard, Luke was clean. Strokes are a weird one medically as you can be perfectly fit and feel fine one minute and then the next minute you are not.

R.I.P. Luke

ReplyDeleteSad. Don't know anything about the guy, but he had a good run of being famous.
ReplyDeleteShit happens... there are worse lives than 50 years looking good.
I heard a rumor that he had a heart attack about a month prior to the stroke, but it was never announced. I wonder if he knew he was in failing health. Just so sudden and unexpected though. Far too young and vibrant. So sad.

He was a smoker in the past and had a bout with colon cancer. He is in a better place.
DeleteHow the fuck do you know?I really hate that. Better place. Better place is alive with your family.

ReplyDeleteFor a lot of Brits the 90s died today with Luke Perry and Keith Flint
ReplyDeletesad situation and certainly stories like this start to make me feel like im getting older lol .... seemed like one of the good guys in Hollywood

ReplyDelete@Brayson +1
ReplyDeleteI'm just sad... Loved him on 90210 and Riverdale. Too young. He didn't seem like a raving lunatic either.
ReplyDeleteSD, he never had colon cancer. He had a precancerous polyp removed. Plenty of people have that.
ReplyDelete@do tell. Yes i just saw that. My mistake.

Here is a good article about how to prevent stroke. Good info.
