Four For Friday - Take Her

Several times I have written about the childhood of this B+ list mostly movie actress all of you know. I always knew things were bad, but they were much worse than even I knew about. I have written how her mother passed her around to men when the actress was in her early teens, but now there is more information. The mother's career was going really poorly and she was trying anything to jump start it. She managed to find a job that would last almost a year and paid really well. It was out of the country. There was just one condition, she had offer up her then tween daughter whenever requested over the course of the year. Her reply? "Take her as much as you like." I'm actually surprised the actress turned out relatively normal after the horror that was her childhood. Of course, she thought it was all normal.

    1. Not sure if ratings fit for her at this point . But I can attest to her mother Jade being a sychophant and a whack job... totally thirsty and Drew was literally on her own at night in places....

  2. Melanie Griffin and mommie dearest?

  3. Looks like a French TV series for Tippi

  4. Drew Barrymore works for me, too, but I'd argue that's she's A-list....

  5. Tatum O’Neal? Her mom was an actress who struggled due to alcoholism.

  6. Tatum was in the custody of Ryan. She would have been better off raised by wolves. Probably Melanie, she is relatively normal,by Hollywood standards.

  7. If it’s Tippi and Melanie, I wonder if Dakota had the same teenhood like her mom?! And if yes, I hope Antonio Banderas doesn’t let that happen to the child he shares with Melanie.
I think Drew Barrymore would fit the actress/producer and former child star description and maybe a higher rating too like A- or something.

  8. Kristen Stewart. Her mom would drive her and wait in the car

    1. False. Being veteran film crew people who knew the dark side of Hollywood, Kristen's parents were actually against her wish to become an actor. But she was adamant as a kid so they let her but she was never left unprotected at auditions or on film sets. A family member or a trusted friend of the family would always be there with her. She's one of the lucky ones out there because her parents weren't money-worshipping fools.

  9. Hope it’s not Drew. Worked with her mom years ago on Last Days of Disco and she was very small and strange. She was very upset being placed by me. I was so tall and she just looked so little. She complained to no avail. It worked for her character.

  10. That explains some things about Melanie Griffith...

  11. I don't think it's Tippi Hedren and Melanie Griffith.

  12. If the girl thought this was normal, I hope she doesn't have children.

  13. P.S she was almost completely cut from film.I was in it more than her and it was my first film . Featured and Taft-Heartlied into SAG. Good memories.

  14. OMG would anyone argue TATUM ONEAL ended up quite normal? The woman has had horrific drug issues her ENTIRE LIFE. Drew you could say has had negative periods or blips but is otherwise "normal" and maybe you could say so about Melanie too but I doubt anyone would say the O'Neals masked their grotesqueness as a family. And who was her Mom anyway that she'd have been offered this kind of gig?

  15. I think it's Drew and her mom. I went to some interactive theater piece in NYC years ago and Jade was in it and at one point we spoke a little. She seemed sweet and yes, is teeny tiny in person. Drew is pretty forgiving, but I think wise to stay wary of Mom.

  16. Eh, on second thought I'm not sure this fits Drew and Jaid.

  17. I think this is about Angeline Jolie and her mom, Marcheline.

  19. Crazy Angie is not B+.

  20. Tippi Hedren known for Hitchcock movies reduced to doing tv spots broke a 2-year dry spell (1971-1973) with a foreign tv series and then did Harrad Experiment with Melanie (who at 14 hooked up with 22-year old Don Johnson)

Drew was emancipated at age 14 and was long gone when Jaid had her meager career

  21. Drew was a star very young in ET and was working before that and after that in LA. her young life is pretty documented and she went to school and lived in LA area for her childhood, she started partying and was already in rehab at 13.

She didnt really have time in her timeline to spend a year abroad as a kid.

Not saying this is the case with Tippi but a characteristic of some kinds of personality disorders is that these people DO care more about animals than they do about people.

  26. Someone who has a full grown lion as a house pet and lets it share a bed with her teen daughter is not all there.

  27. It has to be Melanie and Tippi. The timeline fits, and being an animal advocate does not necessarily mean someone cares about their own kid.

Also, I think Drew is doing much better than "relatively normal". She has really done well with her Flower Films and all.

  33. Yes there is something off -Melanie later got injured by one of the big cats. These are not domesticated pets.

"Hollywood actress Tippi Hedren has revealed her embarrassment and regret that she let a fully grown lion live with her family in the 1970s, saying they were ‘stupid beyond belief’ to let the beast play with her daughter Melanie Griffth, then aged just 13."

    ReplyDelete
  34. She also revealed that their extraordinary experience with Neil lulled them into a false sense of security which was to have disastrous, almost fatal, consequences.

Indeed, after she, Melanie and the rest of their family suffered a string of serious injuries inflicted by the big cats they went on to adopt after Neil, Hedren has turned full circle in her attitude to such exotic pets.

Now 84, she runs a sanctuary, California’s Shambala Preserve, for some 32 big cats, and is an outspoken critic of the practice - still legal in much of the U.S. - of keeping them as domestic pets. As an activist she was successful in lobbying Congress to pass a 2003 bill ending the traffic between states of big cats.

She is now trying to push through another bill that will stop the breeding of these animals for personal exploitation or their sale as pets.

  36. I repeat "Someone who has a full grown lion as a house pet and lets it share a bed with her teen daughter is not all there" -and she has latter admitted she wasn't all there.

To let a big cat sleep with your kids is insane. It is not cute.

  38. Enty has definitely written about Tippi’s penchant for passing Melanie around. Very sad.

    ReplyDelete
  39. "i don't know about Tippi either. she's the founder of Shambala and i don't think that the kind of people who are animal activists and care so much for their lives and well-being are the kind of people who would abuse their children."

I'm not so sure about that.

    https://nypost.com/2015/04/11/son-of-roar-director-he-was-a-f-ing-a-hole-for-making-us-do-the-movie/

Excerpt: Following a clash between two lions, Melanie Griffith quit the production — Hedren quotes her as saying, “Mother, I don’t want to come out of this with half a face. Griffith later returned, only to be mauled by a cat so severely she required dozens of stitches and plastic surgery.

  41. I really don't think anyone would claim Angelina Jolie turned out "relatively normal" so we can disqualify that answer.

    ReplyDelete
  42. Can we really call Melanie ‘relatively normal’ when she supposedly molested a young girl and then had a threesome with her and her dad?

    ReplyDelete
  43. Melanie and Tippi

    Mothers are the worst pimps.

  44. Jamie Lee curtis and her mom?

    ReplyDelete
  45. I know this doesn’t say back in the day, but how about Judy Garland and Liza Minnelli? Judy filmed a movie in Germany in 1960 when Liza was about 14. She hadn’t had any credits for acting since 1954 so that would fit the struggling career part.

  46. Tippi's animal sanctuary is opened up to the public once a month for tours. We went a couple of years ago and it was really cool. They said she wasn't feeling well, so she didn't come out to talk to the group, but apparently most of the time she does. It's definitely worth the drive if you're in Southern California, it's about half an hour from Magic Mountain.

  47. Drew , Melanie, Angie and Jamie Lee are not B+.......

    ReplyDelete
  48. I'd be surprised if it's Tippi after she complained about the way Hitchcock treated her. Also, I think Drew's mother was more like a best friend figure and I couldn't see her doing this, either. Yes, she probably never protected her like a mother should but purposely passing her around is a whole different kettle of fish.

  49. Evan Rachel Wood. Her mother divorced the dad and moved to LA when ERW was nine. Recently in the DM about her history of rapes and abusive relationships. Sounds like the continuation of a childhood pattern.

  50. I have always felt so sad for Melanie.
All I see/hear when I look at her is a lost little girl.
I truly hope she can find peace in her life.

  51. This is about Hayden Panettieri actually

    ReplyDelete
  52. Totally Meg Ryan. She hasn't spoken to her mother in decades.

    ReplyDelete
  53. If this is true, to be different how about Debbie Reynolds and Carrie Fisher??

    ReplyDelete
  54. I meant to say, "If this is true it would be shocking" since Debbie had such a squeaky clean image.

    ReplyDelete
  55. Not Debbie. Whereas she and Carrie did have issues, Debbie's career never had a standstill. I just looked it up. When she was taking a break from tv and film she was doing onstage plays. Primarily bt 1974 and 1987
That being said wouldn't they both be A+ and Debbie being a triple threat?
