On not coming out, don't under-estimate the influence of family. Many people avoid explicitly announcing their orientation only because of one or more family member's opinion.
ONJ is also "foreign born" BUT she has breast cancer for the THIRD time and she and her husband seem super chummy. They were on Sunday morning last weekend, talking about all the natural junk he makes her to eat/drink and how she was getting traditional treatment at the cancer center named for her...in the clinic incognito with sunglasses and a hat.
Third time is not a charm for breast cancer. I think she will die from it within a few years. Still - the book could be hers, a last shot as it were.

It's hard to explain to anyone who wasn't there in that time period, but she & JT were Bieber/Taylor Swift/One Direction all wrapped together. They had music AND a movie, plus there wasn't nowhere near the entertainment available, so everyone from young kids to senior citizens were into the whole Grease fever. Kids at my school "played Grease," everyday at school, on weekends, etc. People would play certain characters & you were required to know the dialogue as well as all of your songs. I know, it sounds crazy, but that's how it was. JT, as you probably are well aware, was in a whole clutch of the most important movies of that time period, & ONJ had several #1 pop as well as #1 country hits. Soooo, yeah. Super big deal stuff.
