This A- list mostly television actress from a hit pay cable show quit because she thinks she is a huge movie star in the making. Crickets since she left. Never leave a hit show.
She's kinda plain. Not very outstanding in the sea of actresses. She should have stayed like the others. I'm guessing the other actors are regretting their decision too (unless they're popular in some other country).
I watched the finale last night. Pretty good. They left it open. I don't really think she is a good actress but the writing on that show is stellar. And I LOVE LIP> LADIES?!
She only got pay equality with William H. Macy in 2016, and, like many Showtime shows, the series has been a drag for a few seasons. I can understand her need to do something else.
Also remember that Enty was so sure that Dan Stevens would crash and burn after Downton Abbey, or that Rami Malek was done after killing Mr. Robot (written and produced by Rossum's husband), while the show was in its last season anyway.
I think Emmy should have done some sink-your-teeth into indies before she flat out quit. Then again maybe she squirreled away money and is good. I can see her wanting to move on but she WAS Fiona. I think she can be flat as an actress in general but she worked great for his particular role. I don't know what else I would see her in.
I dated a girl that looked just like Emmy, she was a bit too tall for me at 6ft, but she was gorgeous. Im not really sure what you people look like when you say shes plain but in Real Time, it's gorgeous. I guess beauty is indeed in the eye of the beholder.
Emmy was amazing as Christine in Phantom (I am envious of anyone who can carry a tune), and tried a singing career, too. After leaving a show, she might not get offers rolling in, but, I think she's proven herself enough that she'll land on her feet.
Rami Malek is likely to always be a character actor, especially with that face.
Emmy Rossum is a nice looking girl with a great figure but yeah, much like Jennifer Lawrence, nothing to write home about - I do find her prettier than JLaw by a hair.
Why would Emmy R. think she deserved equal pay, she no W. Macy. No someone, who had a right to complain, then walk away, was Gillian Anderson. She was an equal co-star to David Duchovny, and never got equal pay, never.
Emmy Rossum has her husband to hand feed her roles anytime she wants, and has multiple projects lined up with Amazon. It sounds like the blind points to her, but I'm not buying it
She started Shameless at 24-25 and it's 9 years later. The same job gets old. She's newly married to Sam Esmail and the show films in Chicago. She probably wants to have kids. I'd leave too. Also, she only got equal pay in the 8th season while carrying most of the show. We all love Bill Macy (and his Oscar nom) but lets face it he's not the "star" of the show. He provides the problem themes of the show and is often not in as many scenes. Same thing happened with Robin Wright and Kevin Spacey on House of Cards. Robin got her pay.
The show is about to hit the dumper .. the writting has gotten really hacky in the last two seasons, they just cant help themselves and vomit up a bunch of political crap
Aris, they don’t film in Chicago the way The Good Doctor (for example) films primarily in Vancouver. My cousin went on a WB studio tour and posted pictures of the pie place and the laundromat across the street. Myths were shattered.
Watched ‘Shameless’ a few times @ a friend’s place. Honestly, never understood the draw. Always thought it sucked. Nothing to do with the acting. I just felt that the concept was stupid๐ฌ.
They were making Fiona out to be a loser - drunk/ broke/ filled with hate and rage after being the savior for so longe - maybe it was a direction she didn't want to go on top of being tired of the dynamics. Lip.Lip.Lip. Oh Lip!
This site had that intrusive blind about Emmy Rossum trying to get pregnant a while back; maybe she's leaving for that and it's nothing to do with "leaving a hit show." I mean, it sounds like it's coming from an asshole producer, God forbid anyone wants a life, especially if it interferes with a producer's perceived revenue stream.
emmy rossum?
ReplyDeleteEmmy (shameless)

DeleteEmmy, but I thought it’s because she thought she wasn’t paid enough.
ReplyDeleteI love Lip, too.
ReplyDeleteMe three! Hate his girlfriends on the show though

I think Lip will be the primary star next season which I think may be the last one. He's really good in that role.
ReplyDeleteRuth Wilson (The Affair) just to be different

ReplyDeleteIt always bothers me that Fiona pees and doesn't wipe in the opening sequence. That may have permanently prejudiced me against her.
ReplyDeleteUgh I’m totally fine with Fiona leaving. BYEEE!!! I don’t blame Emmy for wanting to move on though.

ReplyDeleteI think she us gorgeous! No need to pile on the makeup.
DeleteYou never leave a hit show. You just don’t. Ride it out.

No, no, Momo! Keep your hands off Lip. He's all mine! ๐
ReplyDeleteI agree with Looloo's guess. I think Ruth Wilson makes more sense.
ReplyDeleteThe show is about to hit the dumper .. the writting has gotten really hacky in the last two seasons, they just cant help themselves and vomit up a bunch of political crap
ReplyDeleteI'll go with Ruth Wilson too. Why couldn't she just stick the last season?
ReplyDeleteShe's been around too long to be "in the making"
ReplyDeleteMeh. American Shameless is shite anyways.

ReplyDeletei always thought william h macy was a nice guy but he gave me the creeps in an interview last week on sky arts
- he made a "joke" about having sex with a minor
- he dismissed a raped girls father as racist
- he joked about threatening to murder a dog
Def Emmy/Shameless. She ruined this season with all her PC, Social Justice BS. She's boring and will likely be divorced within 2 years.
ReplyDelete@ Shakey. They film the exteriors in Chicago, shoot interiors in Burbank and Emmy lives in NYC. That is still a lot of traveling for a newlywed.
