Blind Item #2

Don't believe her hype. This former celebrity turned reality star turned celebrity turned controversial celebrity doesn't have the #1 thing at any makeup store. She is just trying to salvage what is left of her brand after her comments and decisions over the past year.

  1. If it’s kat von d then she is doing just fine with her makeup line. Her foundation and brushes are really good. I’m not a fan of her but it’s good stuff

    1. I know i hate that she sorta sucks as a person because I like her stuff a lot. Her eyeliners/shadows are fab

    2. I love them. I could do without the satanic named shades, but she just has to be extra with that stuff.

    3. She just released a new eye palette called 'vegan'. The comments did not disappoint. She lost her credibility...her products usually are amazing, but with new formulas coming out weekly by other brands, she probably won't be missed by many.

  2. Lol MD "Satanic named shades"
    I agree.
It's sad when a woman pushing 40 is still trying to be edgy. If you haven't found your comfort zone by then you probably won't.
Love your kids and give them attention, people!

  3. That's surprising, the general impression I got was that consumers realized that kat von d had as much to do with the makeup line as Ronald has to do with flipping burgers. She's just another clown.

  4. @Brayson: When a woman finds a specific make-up product that she loves, it doesn’t matter who developed it. Seems like MD & Trisha use her line, even though they don’t like her. There’s times when something I use gets discontinued and I call Sephora, & go on every website to try to find it. Men probably think that most products are the same but they’re not.

As far as people believing that actresses and singers are involved in developing their own fragrances, they’re not. They’re just told what to say...’it was inspired by blah, blah, blah, the top note is this, etc.’ They show up for the photo shoot & the launch & that’s it.

  5. Her foundations and concealers have been praised a lot by makeup people

  6. @Florence Harding.

At last a celebrity with a 'foundation' they don't use to launder money, kidnap children for the sex trade or smuggle drugs ....oh wait, that sort of 'foundation'. Crap!

  7. @Aqua, So to clarify, you're agreeing with me? I said that consumers generally don't care what name or picture is on the box or billboard as long as the product is great.

I too know women who love that makeup line even though they've never seen kat von d on tv. I also know women who hate Britney Spears but love all her scents.

Men know that when you find something that works and is reliable, you stick to it. That's why all our shirts/etc are the same brands and our closets look like they're made for clones. Also we stock up on anything that won't expire against the day when they change or end that product line.

Is there anything else you'd like to womansplain? ;)

  8. I was seriously upset when Mac discontinued their Lingering eyebrow pencil. I would have stocked up if I had known, cause the product was truly sponge-worthy level.

    1. @Chillax: Try Anastasia. You can get it @ Sephora. Great texture and easy application.

My sponge-worthy discontinuation, was believe it or not, contact lenses. I wore the same brand and same prescription for > 10 years, and suddenly ‘poof’. No more. It’s really hard to change to a new brand because your eyes get so used to them. I would’ve purchased the entire inventory if I knew. Bummer.

    2. I second Anastasia brow pencil. Also nyx has a Cheaper version but really good.

  9. @Brayson: I do agree with you but the thing about make-up is that you need to try it first. So that’s fine in dept. stores or free-standing stores but doesn’t really work in a drugstore situation because there are no testers. Also, if I really dislike someone, such as a Kardashian, I would never buy any of their products even if they were rated the best products on earth (they actually suck.)

I tend to ‘shop like a man’ (according to my cousin who works in fashion), but only when it comes to basics. If I find a t-shirt that I like, I buy 3 white, 3 black, and 3 grey. That being said, I own 4 pairs of pink shoes and a million dresses so don’t really shop like a man. A straight one anyway.

There is nothing else that I want to womansplain, but I have been meaning to congratulate you on your relationship (which seems like it’s fairly new?) You seem really happy and I especially love the fact that even if a CDAN stranger hits on you, you tell them that your ❤️ is taken. That’s so sweet 🥂.

  10. Chillax — YES! I’m having a similar problem with Fling right now. Mac makes me furious when they do this! My god, they keep track of what you buy. Would it be so hard to send a postcard notifying their longtime customers of a discontinuation?!?! Sorry for the diatribe ... my daughter would say I got “triggered.”

    1. @Kelli: Do you shop at a free-standing MAC store? I do and get really friendly with the staff. Next time you’re in you can ask if any of the products that you generally use are going to be discontinued. And you can also ask if it’s possible to notify you. Other route is to write a letter to the home office. Sort of strange that two of you on this thread have had the same experience and I totally understand your frustration.

  11. Maybe she can use the leftover shit to cover up her fucking tattoos.

  12. @Aqua, I hate it when they change the chemical formula for any kind of of personal product or food. Like oh this was great now it dries out my skin, or with food oh great now it tastes bad and makes me sick, great upgrade.

Sometimes with clothes it pays to stock up, especially if you bounce between two sizes. There's nothing like clearing out stuff that doesn't fit only to have to buy the same sizes again six months later 😅

Nope, no new relationships my SO knows about 😉, JK!, and I was pretty sure that commenter was a guy 😂

  13. My grandma used a certain kind of hand cream and she always smelled like it. I wish I would have bought all the remaining stock when they discontinued it. I had a tiny bit I would use on days I was missing her.

  14. Yup, Kat's concealers are theeeee sh*t. IT Bye Bye Undereye is also a great one.

  15. I like Fenty foundation but have heard wonderful things about Kat's makeup line. They discontinued an Estee Lauder lipstick shade I adored. I used to try to order from ebay and stuff but it was always dried out and tasted rancid. I miss that shade so much.

  16. Lancome discontinued my favorite mascara that I used for 20 years! Hourglass discontinued my favorite blush that I would get compliments on all the time. So frustrating. Would be really interesting to read a post about our favorite make-up. Had not heard Kat's line was so good.

  17. i think this could be Black Chyna - didn't she have a make-up line, Lashed?

  18. Brayson-- seeing "New and Improved" on a label causes me to yell, "LIES!" And go running from the aisle. ...ok, not really, but so rarely an improvement.

While we're on a cosmetics based thread, Kylie is officially youngest billionaire now. Ugh.

  19. @Vita. you forgot the most sickening part. 'self-made'. Ugh is right!

  21. I believe Enty is right on this one. Every time I walk into Sephora, something of Kat's is 50% off. I bought her Fetish palette in December for $32.50. Then they discounted the Shade + Light palette right after. Then it was her liquid metallic lip colors. And in agreement with other commenters,I like her products, but I don't like her.

If I remember right, Kat drew a line when she caused drama between Jeffree Star and Two Faced Cosmetics. Since then, she and Jeffree have had bad blood between them. I tend to take all that crap with a grain of salt, but do think there's something to consider given all her prior drama in media et al. I haven't used any of her products personally, but hear good things about her contour palette and concealers.

I miss the days when MAC had rose-scented mascara and the original Twig lipstick. I know that my HG mascara, of all things, was Rimmel's Flex mascara (it was amazing for a drug store brand) and the hair gods must hate me because every time I find the perfect curl cream or sea salt spray, they discontinue it without notice. SO FRUSTRATING! :(

  23. Since I got a severe allergy for wearing a VERSACE lipstick in the 90s I learnt I dont care about brands or faces for those brands JUST ABOUT QUALITY ON MY SKIN

BTW try CLINIQUE ... incredible products
