Not that I am an Amber apologist, but are we really supposed to take the word of Depp's family members as fact? Of course they are going to stand up for him.
I have mixed feelings on the suit really. She has a history of flying off the handle at partners, but his substance abuse is well documented and she released footage of him in a screaming rage. I feel that she pushed his buttons and he responded in the worst ways. He's right that her timing was spiteful and cost him roles, but by suing her he is releasing himself of all responsibility. He lost those roles because he lost control of his personal life and that's something he still needs to face up to.
EV: Good comment. Narcissists and psychopaths know exactly what they're doing. She pushed him deliberately, then held her phone up to record. She knew exactly what would happen, and was prepared.
Just because a man screams and rages does not mean that he is abusive. Not defending him, but she knew which buttons to push and I don't trust her for whatever reason.
