  1. None and none which is why I'm not picking.

  2. None! This is a first for me. But I did manage to watch all the seasons of The Great British Baking Show on Netflix. If I were making movies right now, that's scary. When I'd rather watch Brits bake than go the theater to watch their crap.

  3. Seen zero, hoping for any movie besides black panther, so i can watch mental patients meltdown on twitter

  5. Well, of the two I saw, Black Panther and Bohemian Rhapsody, I guess Bohemian Rhapsody but none of them have that Birdman quality of actual achievement.

    I've only seen Black Panther.

  8. Of the two I saw Green Book was better than A Star Is Born. ASIB didn't flow well at all. Very choppy.

  9. Seen none, maybe later on pay per view, lol at us all we are Hollywood Experts and don't go to the movies.

  10. I saw Bohemian Rhapsody 3 times - once on a plane - and bought the DVD + download. Great flick, but I haven't seen all the other nominees, so I can't say it's the Best Picture.

I thought "A Star is Born" was just OK.

@Herbert, I think Spike thinks it's his turn for Best Director, not necessarily Best Picture.

  11. Haven't seen any of these and won't be seeing any of these, even for free. I get the distinct feeling that at least 5 of them do not deserve an Oscar nomination, however.

  12. Roma and green book. I think green book should win.

  13. BTW, the second "Brutally Honest Oscar Ballot" is up at the Hollywood Reporter.

Female sound professional this time. Her top 3 votes were (1) The Favourite, (2) A Star Is Born, (3) Bohemian Rhapsody.

  14. Robert De Niro also produced Bohemian Rhapsody but he snubbed the GG awards

since when does De Niro miss a chance to attack Trump ?

  15. Maybe De Niro's got Epstein and Kelly style worries...

  16. I have seen all except Roma.
    Loved the Favourite and BlackKKlansman.
Vice was also very good, but felt like a dimmer version of The Big Short

  17. Have seen almost all. Not a single one stands out as deserving Best Picture to me. Feels like standards have gone down. No masterful artistry combined with storytelling excellence. Roma had artistry without the storytelling. Guess I’d like to see Spike get Best Director, but BlackKKlansman was a very average movie, with average performances and a weird abrupt ending. Plus its message was very mixed. It hardly deserves a Best Picture nom. Green Book was actually better on the portrayal of endemic white supremacist racisim. I liked the buddy movie story in it, and the evolution of the lead (what other movie had this?) even if the protagonists were caricatures. A Star is Born has been redone too many times. Have too much regard for Freddie Mercury to appreciate Malek’s performance. To me it was those false teeth performing.

  18. @nutty flavor. thanks for the info on spike. i saw him on cbs sunday morning and he really felt like he had to win this time around. im not wishing him any bad luck, we'll see how it works out.

  19. Black Panther, A Star Is Born, Roma. I wouldn’t have thought any of them would be best pic nominees. All I know is I absolutely do not want ASIB to win. So overrated!!! I really don’t understand why people think it’s so great.

  20. I would love to see Black Panther win, but it won't.
I would love to see BlacKKKlansmen win for spike Lee.
I would love to see the Favorite win, because it is different.

Roma will win, which is a shame, because it is all in Spanish, and should come under the foreign film category.

  21. The wife and I tried watching Black Panther.

There is too much exposition in their attempt to explain the story.

    Just get on with it.

  22. I think this "Honest Trailers - Oscars 2019" sums up all of them.

  23. I saw Panther which IMO was absolute garbage. It definitely does not deserve ANY awards. I have and will not see any of the others.

  24. I saw 6 of the 8 (not Vice or Green Book) and I thought The Favourite was the best and most Oscar-y movie of the bunch. I liked Roma but think it is more deserving of the Best Foreign Film award.

  25. None seen, but if I had a vote I'd throw it Spike's way because I've long been a fan of his work. I hope he gets it!

  26. I saw ASIB but did not care for it, though I have liked some of GaGa's music in the past.
Saw Bohemian Rhapsody and really liked it but mostly because of the music. I didn't think the acting was great, though the lip synching was flawless, but there were some funny scenes.
I haven't seen the others, so can't offer an opinion and won't root for BR because of the Bryan Singer connection.
I will say, having lived in the NYC area my whole life, I despise that racist punk Spike Lee. You could not pay me to watch one his movies, though I would gladly pay to see him lose.

  27. Out of those, I saw only Black Panther. Loved it.

  28. I've seen all but "Green Book". I think "Roma" will win, but I would have voted for "Blackkklansman".

  29. BUT WHERE ARE THE GYM QUOTES? If I can't count on Amazing Quotes, I feel like nothing is real anymore.

  30. Only Black Panther. Best movie ever!
    Can't wait for the sequel.

    Wakanda forever!

  31. Made it through about 20 mins of Black Panther - zzzz. Saw Boho Rhapsody (on video) and thought it very good, but who knows what will win as I haven't seen the rest and don't really care.
The only thing that gets me to an actual theater for a movie these days is if it's something with sweeping landscapes that would be better on a huge screen, such as The Revenant.

  32. Haven’t seen any which is a first for me. I saw the Oscar Shorts & really enjoyed them.

  33. Just saw Roma and BlackkKlansman. Loved both. Will see Bohemian Rhapsody before Sunday.

  34. I've only seen Black Panther and frankly, it's not Oscar material. I'm rooting for Green Book. I'm dying to see it.

    ReplyDelete
  35. I've seen all of the them and I'd either vote for The Favourite or BlackKklansman.

    ReplyDelete
  36. I have seen all of them

    Definitely BlackkkLansman deserves to win

    ReplyDelete
  37. I've only seen Black Panther and Roma, would vote for Roma. That being said, Black Panther better win for costumes and score at the very least.

    ReplyDelete
  38. I've seen Black Panther and A Star is Born. I was not willing to pay money to see Bohemian Rhapsody and only saw ASIB because of free screening passes from Yelp. I loved Black Panther but not sure it deserves Best Picture.

    ReplyDelete
  39. I have only seen Black Panther, Blackkklansman and Green Book. I haven't seen the others. But I would vote for Blackkklansman because it was not only entertaining but the actors were very believable as the character and the ending was the best because it showed the continued discrimination of African Americans via real events. Also I would never vote for a movie that has 4 remakes like a Star Is Born. I can't even believe that they are hyping up this movie for any kind of oscar consideration.

  40. I have no idea why Black Panther, Blackkknsman and Roma were nominated in the first place.

I loved A Star is Born but isn't Oscar material. Hope Vice or The Favorite wins

    ReplyDelete
  41. I've seen Black Panther and BlackkKlansman. I think the nomination is more than enough recognition. I think Black BlackkKlansman is worthy to win but won't.

There are alot of movies where I don't understand why they were nominated and it's the reason why people don't take the Oscars seriously anymore. There were a lot of movies that pushed boundaries this year and it sucks that they weren't even nominated over some of this drivel.

  42. Black Panther isn’t even the best Marvel film of 2018, it’s a joke we’re seeing it nominated for awards
