This money laundering streaming service is putting Harvey to shame. No, they are not having their executives jerk off into potted plants, but they are spending four times the budget of a movie to make sure they win Best Picture for a movie most people have never seen.
Netflix/Roma (It didn't work, but they picked up several other wins)

And once again, what studio doesn't do this to push their Oscar nominees. And again today fuck this money laundering b. s. And fuck the short you and Hedge fucked up on here and with Tesla.
ReplyDeleteThey paid that amount because they knew Cuarón is solid gold.
ReplyDeleteNot many people saw “Roma”, and a good chunk of the ones who did said it was slow moving with very little story. Not “Best Picture” material.
ReplyDeleteI am enjoying watching all the Hollywood types get furious about Green Book’s win.
But I thought the whole point of an Oscar-bait was that they’re SUPPOSED to be slow-paced?
DeleteI’ve started making my YouTube product review/unboxing videos more slow-paced now.
+1 Nutty
ReplyDeleteI saw one film critic describe it as "a home movie with higher prouction values, something the director would watch over and over but not a film that audiences would be interested in".
i loved it. i guess when you're used to special effects, superheroes and animation, it may be very boring, but to me it was a beautiful little movie. i plan to watch it again.
ReplyDeleteI loved it too. But would you have liked it enough to pay to watch in a theater?
DeleteOscar bait is Oscar bait. It's usually sh!t that most people haven't seen or would want to see, but specifically designed to give Academy members a big chubby. Same way it's easy to spot the Emmy bait episodes of tv series.
ReplyDeleteIt's like skewing a paper to the professor's quirks and beliefs so they'll agree with you and give you an A+ even if the paper is sh!t. Higher education, teaching young minds to manipulate faux intellectuals for personal gain. 🤗
I think it's even more simple. Many are low educated drop outs and selecting high brow films makes them feel smart.
DeleteI loved Roma - on the surface it is a nostalgic story but it is also a masterful piece of filmmaking. Don’t @ me!
ReplyDeleteWould you have liked it as much if you had paid to watch in a movie theater?
DeleteMost people don't see ANY of the nominees for Best Picture. That's how out of touch the academy is. Black Panther was the closest, but with 71M tickets sold, that's less than 1 in 4 of the population (assuming everyone only saw it once.) And BP never had a chance.
ReplyDeleteWe just sent all of your money laundering claims to netflix communications and legal teams. You little bitch
ReplyDeleteHahaha Elliott Peters, are you serious? You went and tattled? What a fucking fag.
DeleteWait for the Irishman......the money spent on that will be insane

ReplyDeleteFantastic, Grumpy Old Men 3, from the actors to the director. Oh well, probably easier to raid their nursing homes now than to dig up their graves later.
ReplyDeleteI make a point to see ALL of the Oscar nominated movies. And I really enjoyed "Roma". Glad Ibsaw it on Netflix because I watched it over and over.
ReplyDelete@spillthetea me too! i had to rewind several times the scene where she chases the kids down the street on their way to the movies. To me, it was a master piece. To those who did not liked it, Walmart just put the box set for Fast & Furious on sale.
ReplyDeleteBut that's the magic of the secret ballot. Easy to say that you looooooooved Roma and then go vote for Green Book and Bo Rap.
ReplyDeletelol nope, didn't work. never even heard of this film and I use netflix almost daily.
ReplyDeleteHow is Netflix laundering money? Seriously curious.
ReplyDeleteI lived through the events in the movie, as the director claims he did, this movie was HORRIBLE.
