Blind Item #7

Maybe this bar reality star wouldn't have to complain about others having sex if she didn't have to close her eyes and think about the money to get through a session with her significant other.

  3. Enty, any insider info on the man who killed a mountain lion with his bare hands? Was this part of some conspiracy?

I kind of feel bad for LaLa. She took the shot and it rolled around the rim for a couple of times and really looked like it was going to go in...then fell right off.

  6. I love watch Vanderpump Rules but last night Tom Sandoval (bartender and 5% owner of Tom Tom) was driving his late model Mercedes Benz to work! Geez- they have a show about these struggling bartenders and servers and they are all driving fancy cars and are on vacation all the time. It's not FAIR!

One other observation- these kids are massive binge drinkers. They went out for Jax's birthday last episode and Tom Sandoval had 10 drinks before he stopped counting- and they do this kind of drinking all the time- girls, too, and Tom is one of the more sane cast members.

Lala is quite fake. She wants to be a star and she likes to be very comfortable with her rich boyfriend- until she meets a hot young rich boyfriend.

Brittany is head over heels for Jax- not sure if Jax feels the same about her but he is out of options and he keeps talking about being 40 -aka old (actually he will be 40 this year).

    1. Never seen that show but those people’s lives sound really, really sad and nothing at all to envy. How the hell can anyone drink like that?! And they’re living a show life. All the people I knew that were “nouveau riche” (aka classless wealthy) ended up broke. They’re putting on a facade. They’re like ducks, seemingly calm on the surface but paddling furiously underwater. So don’t think they’ve got it good. You’ve probably got it better than you think.

VR is a guilty pleasure watch for me as well. It's just comical how Lisa Vanderpump, who is worth who knows how many millions, pretends to really be involved in the lives of her employees. Also the rest of the cast pretending that the source of their income is their tips from working at the bar and not their reality show salaries.

I think LaLa took a swing and a miss. She thought she found a "real" producer who could do something for her, and it really appeared to be happening. The question is, will she be content to join the ranks of rich background trophy wives of L.A. or will she try to get more? I can't blame the girl for trying for more, which is more than the rest of them seem to be doing.

If the drinking is real, then it's really, really out of control for all of them. It's an integral part of the show, so the production is actually enabling the downfall of at least one of them, who will not come back from alcoholism.

Jax making a "closet" joke about James was kind of funny. My guess would be that in the reality of the real world of WeHo restaurant and bar employees, any of those young men would be "gay for pay" for the right price.

    1. That’s so weird that any boss would be interested in their employees like that, on a personal level (yes I know it’s a show but this happens irl too). Like, why?

  8. I used to live in LA and mingle in this scene... now I have a house and all that good stuff... it's sad to think of them when they are 50 and spent ALL their youth/money living in the moment and have nothing for the future. I saw it in LA all the time.. people driving Mercedes they could barely afford while living in a dump. Very rare to even have a washer and dryer in an apartment in LA (you have to share a coin-op laundry with the WHOLE BUILDING.) At the end of the day, you have some great memories, but memories don't keep you warm at night or your stomach full. I hope some of them are at least putting some of that money aside. They won't be young and pretty much longer.

  9. Thanks @astra worthington and @JusticeHeatherORourke for the perspective. Some of the kids talk about wanting to buy a house, but they would be too far from the action. One of them moved to Marina Del Rey to a new apartment and they all bitched about how bad the traffic was getting to her new place and said they would never visit again. Some friends.

    1. I’ve found that modern day friendship is generally based on proximity and ease. If something bad happens to one of the friend group, the others disappear. People nowadays only want the good parts of relationships, and desperately avoid any of the bad parts. I’m sure it’s way worse in really superficial and transient places like LA. If your “friends” don’t aid your clawing up the ladder, they’re jettisoned asap. It’s a weird world out there.

Lol my advice to anyone would be: Strive to live the exact opposite type of life they push on tv as “the ideal”. Never seen one of the desperate strivers that are truly and actually happy. They’re chasing shit that isn’t real and isn’t achievable. And they suffer because of it. Look around at society. How many people does anyone know that are actually happy? Probably almost none. Living so far from the natural order screws people up. We’re just human versions of the Calhoun rat experiments.

Ok now my tl;dr is over thanks for reading

  11. I found it entertaining the first two seasons. After that, I really couldn't stomach any of them. I would be very interested in a "where are they now" update in 20yrs though because I haven't been able to find a redeeming quality or any actual talent in any of them save for power drinking and the ability to get on their backs for cash...can't imagine this show could possibly last much longer and really really can't imagine any of them having any sort of success after.

  12. I am no stranger to several Bravo guilty pleasure shows, but to me VR is nothing short of cringe worthy can't watch it. I was watching WWHL and several of them were on and they are just as dumb as rocks. Making idiots of themselves on TV and thinking it's soooooo great blech!

    1. Imagine having absolutely zero shame. How do people turn out like this? We need studies on it.

  15. Yesss...and their car lease payment was more than the rent of their tiny, shared apartment lease.

  16. It;s been a guilty pleasure of mine since day one. Let's just put this out there: these people drink way too much and too often. They can't do anything without and alcoholic accompaniment. Tom Swartz is a problem drinker. That dude gets fucking wasted a lot. Remember the time he got so wasted in Mexico he ended up at a different resort? That could have gone very badly.

To paraphrase a common refrain; "just close your eyes and think of Benjamins."
