Paternity Tests should be a standard part of the package, when a woman is in the hospital to give birth. Gives the woman a protected environment if bad news is found out, gives the guy proof before he signs the birth certificate, and gives him time to find accommodations or put her shit out in the street. Also saves the kid the punch in the gut feeling when they do a 23 & Me 30yrs down the road.

Where I live, the state recognizes a child's father as the man who signs the birth certificate even if DNA testing proves otherwise.
