Blind Item #11

This Hollywood trade magazine has always been pro disgraced director. Now, they are letting the actor from the director's most recent movie to totally change the story he has been saying for months. Just randomly now when people are voting for Oscars he is trying to be sympathetic and then even gave some crap story which is trying to make him look like a victim of the director without giving any specifics. Umm, no. Also, everyone in the cast and crew knew why the director was being fired. It was all anyone was talking about on set which is why the director was in hiding and not showing up to work. So the actor is lying about that too.

  7. Caitlin = truth! Mondays suck, but hey!, at lest we finally have global waming back? Amiright? ::slow eye roll::

Malek shouldn't win the Oscar... and if he does, he better call Marc Matel onstage and hand the statue to him. Effing bullshit. Also, regardless of Oscar noms and wins, Singer is still singing all the way to the bank. Vile. Someone needs to Lorena Bobbitt the eff out of him.

  8. Michael Musto's interview with an anonymous academy voter is in The Hollywood Reporter. The voter complains about the smear campaign directed at BR and is very sympathetic to Malek.

  9. it doesnt matter. Malek will still win the oscar. its not the right thing, but its going to happen and Ive just accepted it.

people want to believe he's what he's pretended to be - an earnest, genuine guy that wouldnt lie. But we know that to be untrue. But some people just refuse to acknowledge that - and that willfulness is what will have the academy give him the award.

its sad, but theres nothing else

  10. Anyway the wind blows; doesn‘t really matter to me...

Ive noticed that being tossed out there, the whole 'smear campaign' thing....blows my mind that people are calling it that....sounds like something engineered by fox to have the academy feel sympathetic towards them.

  12. What difference does it make what he knew? If his acting was that good then he deserves to win. I haven't seen the movie so I don't know.

  13. Good one, Ozgun!

Though Malek's comments were both vague and insinuating at the same time, and oddly late in the game,... to be fair, weren't there loads of comments about there being problems between the two during production (not just erratic attendance by Singer)?

  14. Who really gives a fuck? There are many pervs currently active in the industry and most if not all actors will happily look the other way to work with them. Nothing about this debacle is special. Even if Rami Malek KNEW, trying to pin blame on him for anything is as bad as Rose McGowan going after Meryl Streep for not stopping Harvey Weinstein.

    2. The public demise of Jack Ryan to help Obama win presedency, followed by Trump. Solely crafted by two extremely power hungry bothers. It’s a great read and I hate politics.

    3. OMG my eyes glazed over looong before reaching the end but the brothers are obviously supposed to be Ari and Rahm Emanuel (Ari is the Hollywood agent powerhouse, the model for the Ari Gold character on Entourage played by Jeremy Piven). Their oldest brother Zeke is as famous in his own way in the medical field but the ruthlessly ambitious ones are Rahm and Ari. Rahm is supposed to be the Kingmaker/"planner" according to the blind.

I tried to skim tye rest but couldn't even do that, sorry. So I don't know how relevant the rest of my comments are, but the notion that they wanted both Obama and Trump is interesting -- and plausible in that the only immediately obvious thing that both elections have in common is the defeat of Hillary Clinton.

Before he was Chicago's mayor and Obama's chief of staff, Rahm served as a senior adviser to Bill Clinton in the White House -- but left about a month before Clinton was impeached. Bill Clinton at one point demoted him, which had been big news in DC politics at that time. But the really huge news was when Hillary Clinton first ran for president and Rahm was neutral -- and then joined Obama after he won as chief of staff. Yes, it's possible the Emanuels didn't want Hillary in, ever.

Maybe I'll try to look at the blind again later, sorry,

    4. Oh...yeah. I knew that whole Jack Ryan mess was about Obama. Obama was a complete unknown and suddenly he was President. I'll have to go read the article.

  16. article where anonymous oscar voter claims there is a smear campaign against Green Book and Bohemian Rhapsody

    https://www.thedailybeast.com/anonymous-oscar-voters-blasts-smear-campaigns-against-green-book-and-bohemian-rhapsody

Hollywood Reporter ran the Q&A w/Malek at the SB Film Fedtival - Scott Feinberg of THR interviewed him - Malek knew ahead of time what questions would be asked. This QA is the event where the sympathy pivot quotes comes from.

  20. If any team were to smear the film, would it not be another reboot singing type movie who were busy posting glowing reviews all over the internet.

  21. That Himmmm story.... why not use real names? Most of that stuff I read years ago with the names. But I don't know who the Agent and Planner are.

    ReplyDelete
  22. Obama was not a complete unknown. He was a state senator, then a US Senator, and then the star of the Democratic National Convention, all before he ran for president. Obama was also a law professor so actually qualified to be president.

    ReplyDelete
  23. Agent was Ari, Planner was Rahm. Obama had a commanding lead over Ryan in the polls long before the Ryan divorce/custody records were released. Illinois was a blue state at the time in presidential races, so even if Ryan had made it to November without the records release, Obama would have smoked him by double digits.

  24. Yes, and somehow Oprah fits into it somewhere? (I read on that story page in the comments) She campaigned for Stacey Abrams and Stacey still lost, so Oprah is no Kingmaker.

  25. As for Malek ... he might deserve the Oscar. He blew me away but only in the 2nd half of the movie. In the first half he was annoying. IMO.

  26. @msilver, Your memory is incorrect. It was the other way around, Jack was ahead in the polls. Unfortunately, he believed his lawyer who told him the judge would never unseal the files. Because he put the welfare of his child before everything, he absolutely refused to say anything that could remotely reflect poorly on Jeri. Fact was, she had made exaggerated claims in the custody filings — as directed by her attorney. Had Jack rode out the initial storm, conventional wisdom among the political powerbrokers saw him winning. Even after winning the D primary, Obama was still considered a lightweight who might win Chicago, but the collar counties and most of downstate would go with Ryan.

To this day, Coach Ditka still maintains had he run after Jack dropped out Obama still be a state senator.
