When they ran into each other at a cafe yesterday, this permanent A list singer/diva who isn't what she used to be pretended she didn't know this other permanent A list singer who have each performed the same role on a reality television show.
Mariah Carey/Katy Perry

Haha I'm surprised Katy recognized Mimi, she doesn't look like a star anymore.
ReplyDeleteI bet there are times Mimi looks in the mirror and doesn't recognize herself.
ReplyDeleteMaybe katy should have shared her coke.
ReplyDeleteLMAO Katy Perry is no permanent A list, she's very far from that
ReplyDeleteOh, girl!
ReplyDeleteCatchy song though "I kissed on a casting couch, and I liked it"
ReplyDeleteKaty Mediocre Perry isn't good enough to lick the JRT shit off the bottom of Mariah's shoes. Glad she ignored her!
ReplyDeleteJeez, how many hits, how much money, how many Super Bowl shows does Katy need before some people will admit she's permanent A list?
ReplyDeleteMariah only made it big on her back thanks to hubby Tommy Mottola.
ReplyDeleteKaty Perry as permanent A list is a hilarious concept.
ReplyDeleteKaty's rung that pop music bell pretty hard, guys. She even said so herself. I daresay so hard, they might have ice it down out back.
ReplyDelete@Brayson-- Agreed. People seem to forget the years when her songs were on perma-play on the radio and that she tied Michael Jackson for most #1 hits off a single album...
ReplyDeleteThe hit songs account for the initial “A list”, the fact that people forget & it was only a few years ago means it definitely wasn’t permanent.
DeleteMariah's albums in the 90's were AMAZING. And her voice was phenomenal. She may be a joke now, but that does not take away from the talent she had back then. Yes, marrying Mottola definitely helped, but back then Mariah was the total package - beauty and talent.
ReplyDeleteWould you expect anything less from Mariah? Her snobbery is right up there with Karl Lagerfeld and his bitch-beating fan (which I dearly miss), which makes me love her all the more.
ReplyDeleteKaty permanent A is so laughable. Mariah can sing rings around Katy.
ReplyDeleteI think you mean "drink" instead of sing.
ReplyDeleteTwo former A-list pop stars both on the downside of relevance now.
ReplyDeleteCarey has more hits and the better voice (if little taste), so she'll probably level out higher than Perry.
Katy writes her music, which makes her a singer-songwriter.
ReplyDeleteMiriah is a singer. Katy wins, and is a hard worker with a work ethic.
Carey is a songwriter too so your logic is flawed.
DeleteWhat does that say about us, that all of our idols are psychopaths?
ReplyDeleteangelimp, Katy is a fucking cokehead who makes fun of people with mental illness. She doesn't win shit. She is a fucking asshole.
ReplyDeleteMariah may be a mess now but Katy in her prime can't even come close to Mariah in her prime. Laugh all you want but Mariah will be remembered much more than Katy will.
ReplyDelete@Angelimp Mariah has written plenty of hit songs, she has just reached that stage in her career where no one wants to hear new stuff. I like katy Perry but her last album sucked.
ReplyDeleteSheeit I've already forgotten most of Mariah, only remember that Christmas song and dreamlover.
ReplyDeleteI still listen to her 1990 debut album a lot. It is so good.
ReplyDeleteI'd rather stab pencils in my ears than listen to any Katy Perry song.
They're both kind of sad. They should be nicer to each other.
ReplyDeleteThey're definitely not going to defeat the patriarchy by being catty.
ReplyDeleteI like both of them. They're both talented, and had good careers most singers could only dream of. It would be nice if both were clean and sober and worked harder on their work, but fame.
ReplyDeleteUnlike most, I don't treat the whole thing like sports teams. I just like music.
HA that's Mariah's trademark, isn't it? She says she doesn't know someone 99% time - and 99% of the time the other party flips their lid!
ReplyDelete[sings Red Red Wine]
why is katy perry permanent a-list but gaga isn't? lol they debuted around the same time and gaga is clearly doing better. the favoritism
ReplyDeleteWell since when is having one of the most critically acclaimed album of the year deemed as washed up? Entie always with his biased opinions regarding certain artists.
ReplyDeleteDude, Mariah is 50. Give her a break! And I saw pictures of her yesterday in a bikini and she is looking more the “star” ever! Losing all that weight made her look like herself again.
ReplyDeleteAre we actually comparing the cheerleader Katy Perry, and her auto tuned drone of a voice.... with the gift that is Mariah Carey?
ReplyDeletePlease look up "Mariah Carey: Unplugged" from 1992 or 93. I believe it was on MTV, definitely online somewhere today. Listen to her live, acoustic versions of "Without You" or "Hero".
Tommy Mottola gave her a recording contract on the basis of one gritty tape of her doing backup vocals for Brenda Starr.
The rest is history.
This is Mariah's regular schtick, petend to not know who the other person is.
ReplyDeleteThere was even a blind about it.
There is no contest when it comes to the one who has authentic talent --- that is Mariah Carey. Kathryn Hudson wins the "mean girl" crown. That is *her* primary gift.
