Blind Item #6

This dating app all of you know is increasingly worried because the buzz is, their app was the reason the A- list mostly television actor was where he was to get beaten. One of his attackers connected with him on the app.

  4. The question now is: does Jussie get charged for making a false report?

He wasted a lot of cops' time and city resources during a weather emergency.

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. I would hope he does; 12 cops reviewing hundreds of hours of video?

Besides the weather emergency, there are so many un-solved crimes in Chicago. A total waste of resources.

      Delete
    2. It’s Chicago so at least 2 people are murdered each day. Put the resources to assist in those cases.

      Delete
    3. Nope. These hoaxers never ever face any consequences and usually somehow still blame their actions on white people or “privilege” or say they’re “starting a conversation” about hate crimes or whatever.

  5. Is Grindr for dating... or for sex?

  6. Dude already out of the closet, so why not just admit to a rough trick, rather than becoming a race baiting laughing stock? How high was he and his advisors that night?

    ReplyDelete
  7. Second question: what about all those posturing politicians (Kamala Harris, Joe Biden, Corey Booker) who made impassioned statements about this "modern-day lynching"?

Are they going to walk that back, now? And if they don't, what does that do for their credibility?

At least Trump's kept his mouth shut on this one.

    ReplyDelete

    1. And what about the credibility of everyone who immediately jumped on Twitter to support him? He’s the nicest, sweetest guy in the world, etc.

    2. Nope. And the next time this happens they’ll be out there doing exactly the same thing all over again.

  8. Sooo, now was it just celeb seeker hook up gone bad, or, even worse, was it hate crimers catfishing? Just ick.

  9. I haven’t heard anything from his sister Jurnee who is an actress that works a lot. Why would you go to the hospital on your own when they offered assistance.

    ReplyDelete
  10. Wait how does the idea that he was in that spot for a Grindr hookup negate the idea that it was a homophobic racist attack? Not seeing the connection. Sounds like he was maybe targeted, which...doesn't change anything.

  13. @Nutty Flavor: Soon as Booker hears Grindr was involved, he won't have another word to say and he will delete his acct.

    ReplyDelete
  14. i dont see how the app could be held responsible even if the story is true
unless someone working at the app helped set up the attack. i dont believe him cause hes out so if someone attacked him thru the app i would think he'd want them caught.

    ReplyDelete
  15. Jussie really, really hates Trump - he has a long Twitter history filled with statements about Trump that are pretty gross.

Seems like he got beaten for another reason (or fell?) and decided it would be a good idea to blame Donald and his minions.

Carolyn, if Grindr really had been used for a racist attack, wouldn't Jussie want to share his phone with the cops, or at least let them access that app? The last people who he connected with on the app are presumably the culprits. Get them before they harm someone else.

He specifically refused to let the cops examine his phone.

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. Maybe he's ashamed of being on Grindr? He's famous, his reputation could suffer.

    2. @NuttyFlavor, I love when you post, you are very wise and I love your insight on the RF!! Have a great day!

  16. @Carolyn normally getting beaten up during solicited sex with a stranger is due to a robbery by that stranger. That is what this blind is insinuating. He made up a story to cover up he was soliciting sex and got turned

    ReplyDelete
  17. This liar should be charged with wasting the police's time as they scoured hundreds of hours of footage looking for proof and came up with nothing.

    ReplyDelete
  18. The place they met... was it a downtown Starbucks or someplace more "intimate?"

    ReplyDelete
  19. Live two blocks away at LPT. This is the first hate crime I have ever heard of in 10 years. I see minoritys, gay people, and even intoxicated people safety walk the neighborhoods at all times days and night.

My only question is why did he go to Subway? Yes the Subway is open 24 hours, but he would have had to walk past four of five buildings with doorman in sun-zero temperatures to get to Subway.

Chicago has become a nightmare, but hate crimes in Streeterville is not a reason why everyone is considering moving to another state.

    ReplyDelete
  20. Also, and I'm not saying the report is fake, but it seems weird to me that some MAGA neanderthals would be big watchers of "Empire."

    ReplyDelete
  21. I also thought that the bit about him being on the phone to his manager at the time of the crime was odd.

The manager told the cops heard the whole thing, including the racist and homophobic insults.

Sure, Jussie, choose a guy whose entire livelihood depends on you to back up your story. I'm sure he's an entirely impartial witness.

    ReplyDelete
  22. A good few years ago we had a prominent left wing socialist politician get a severe beating at 4am in a South London park (a Spacey haunt too, I believe) infamous for late night assignations of the cock2cock kind. His feeble excuse when the hospital called the police was that he was "looking for badgers".

The phrase rapidly became - and still occasionally is - a euphemism for a brisk night walk somewhere semi rural where you might accidentally fall and impale an orifice on another man.

I suppose the modern US equivalent is now,"attacked with bleach by MAGA hats."?

    ReplyDelete
  23. What is wrong with all of you? It's not uncommon for people to use the app to meet people so they can attack or even kill them. Heard of Bruce McArthur? He used the app to murder gay men in Toronto! You people are pathetic.

  30. I think it's completely plausible for someone to use the app to target him. Perhaps he didn't want the police to see some of the messages, especially if they were explicit in nature, thinking that they would just think this was a date gone bad and not take it seriously as what he perceived as a hate crime. If what he says happened did happen, it's absolutely a hate crime. No question. The question rests in whether he's telling the truth, telling the truth but leaving out some embarrassing details, or outright fabricating the story.

Also, household bleach freezes around 18-19F but if they kept it in a house or car that was warm, it wouldn't instantly freeze once getting outside in temps below that. It could easily be thrown on him while still in enough liquid form.

  32. Nathan, there are lots of questionable claims in the story. However, what you are suggesting is that killers commonly use this app to find victims (define commonly please) and therefore this particularly story is probably true.

    That's some Rosie-level thinking.

    ReplyDelete
  33. Just a note that the app could be Bumble, like bee, thus the use of "buzz" in the blind.

    ReplyDelete
  34. Would Jussie have used his real name on Grindr? Or his face? We have a local gay app where I live and it’s all naked chests and dicks. And screen aliases.

    ReplyDelete

    1. Right. But if the MAGA hats were just using Grindr to beat up/kill gays and/or black folks it wouldn't matter if he used his real name or not. This was a twofer for them.

      Delete
    2. Exactly. I am at a loss as to why people are acting like a crime didn't happen? It doesn't matter if they knew who he was before he was attacked.

      Delete
  35. Whatever the app is, people use them to target others. Like I said, the serial killer in Toronto used Grindr to kill gay men.

Maybe he has explicit pictures on the app and doesn't want the police to see.

I think this whole defensive angle by you angry Right-wingers is pretty pathetic.

  37. i had a former co-worker who used to meet guys on Tinder two or three times a week to hook up for sex.

i was always worried about her meeting up with some crazy rapist / killer.

    scary.

    ReplyDelete
  38. The guy thought he hooked up for some cock on Grindr.
God knows why, I've never heard of the fucker before this, but he's obviously talented at what he does, pretty successful and on the up, so you would have thought he could have his pick of guys, especially since he's out.

But I suppose using the app adds spice and thrills to random hookups.

He meets, gets his whine kicked in and left in the gutter.

It may have been racist, it may have been homophobic, it may have been just robbery, it may have been all three.

What it wasn't was some obvious Trump supporting good ol' boys driving around a dodgy area of one of the US's most liberal cities at 2am on the coldest night for decades with a noose and some bleach.

I don't know why he didn't add that they drove an orange Dodge Charger with a Confederate flag on the roof with a horn that played Dixie. May as well go in for a penny, in for a pound.

The guy had an unfortunate hook up and for whatever reason, whether embarrassment, some sort of Stockholm syndrome for the attackers or possibly plain old conniving PC card playing, lied through his back teeth....or whatever teeth were remaining.

  50. I can’t believe how much victim blaming I’m reading here. Assault isn’t “an unfortunate hook up” (@Flashy Vic). It is assault.

    ReplyDelete
  51. I have absolutely NO idea of what happened to Jussie that night. But I do know that whatever happened isn't what has been reported. I am MAGA. I'm not racist nor homo-phobic. I support gay marriage and have tons of gay friends as well as friends from all ethnicity. In fact, two of my adopted children are outside my race. My son is half Mexican. My daughter is full African American. We've never once had any problems with any other MAGA people or anyone for that matter, hating on our family.

The thought that we are all running around with ropes and bleach just looking for some gay black man to beat up, like we are all boogeymen, is just ridiculous. Are there nutjobs out there from all sides? Of course. But the way this story has been covered, and the virtue signaling of liberals and the media and Hollywood elite is painful to watch.

"This is NOT okay." "Trump is responsible." "MAGA is the new KKK." Here is why many of us are MAGA.

We don't believe in violence against ANYONE for any reason. But we don't believe all violence against a person of color or LGBTQ is a hate crime. We also don't jump on every reported hate crime story as if it is yet another piece of evidence that proves MAGA people are racist, homophobic, etc... Many of these stories have been proven to be hoaxes, yet still get added to the "list" of examples.

We don't believe cops are above the law. We do believe some cops are racist. But we don't jump to the conclusion that every white cop who kills a black suspect is a racist and not justified. We tend to give the benefit of the doubt to police officers over criminals rather than the other way around.

We aren't against immigration. We don't hate immigrants. We are against ILLEGAL immigration. We don't want people entering into our country willy-nilly, particularly at our southern border with borders a country run by cartels responsible for sending drugs, criminals, etc...across our border. Plus, it isn't fair to all those who come to our country legally and wait their turn. Controlled immigration is NOT racist. It's simply common sense.

Donald Trump is an imperfect man. But he's willing to put himself out there for everyone to hate to try to better our country. Obama did the same. He was reelected twice. The hatred and feigned outrage over every thing he says and the over the top comparisons to Hitler, etc...just make the left look stupid. Criticism fine. Saying the guy is the most evil person to ever walk the face of the earth is not. Saying all of those who support him and vote for him are off running around wearing white hoods at night looking for minorities to beat up and kill doesn't help.

So Jussie. I don't know what happened. If someone attacked you I hope they find whoever did it, MAGA, black, white, gay, straight, whoever did it needs to be in jail. But if he or his reps are lying about this in any way, then I hope the same for them.

  53. Thanks, Hotmessmidwest! :)

So, Team Jussie currently believes that

    a) the evil MAGA guys correctly identified Loverboy2847 on Grinder as TV's Jussie Smollett

    b) were fortunately exactly Jussie's sexual type, so much so that he was willing to go out in the freezing weather at 2am for a hookup

    c) were ready and waiting in the cold with bleach and a noose for Jussie to get there

    d) Jussie arrived, but despite having done all this preparation, the two MAGA guys simply yelled some slurs at him, hit him once or twice, and then let him go - even though it was two against one and they could have done him some serious damage.

    e) somewhere in this process Jussie got a sandwich.

    Yes, this sounds plausible.

    1. I’m British too. I stand by my criticism: it’s not understatement to call an assault an unfortunate hook up, it’s just wrong. Years ago, I was raped while on a date (not that we Brits call them ‘dates’ but you know what I mean). There are people, then and now, who would call it a bad date. It wasn’t a bad date, it was assault. I’m afraid assault is assault, whatever the circumstances surrounding it, and whatever the gender or sexuality of the victim. Sorry, but your comment was the icing on the cake after reading so many basically claiming this man has made this up. I’m more mad at the rest of them, and your use of words made me snap.

  56. I think a lot of you have it wrong. The attack was real. How they found him was trough grinder.

    ReplyDelete
  57. So now his agent was claiming he heard the two men shouting the MAGA remarks? Yes, ok, because you have no financial horse in this race. The cops only just found two people of interest on the video that they aren't even sure were involved, but *you* know.

    ReplyDelete
  58. Why did he still have the noose on when the police arrived at 2:42am? He walked home? with the noose around his neck? 42 minutes of wearing the rope?

It’s a real problem in this country and somehow it’s not the “evil racist bigoted hate filled right wing neo nazi kkk member Republicans” that are the ones spreading all the hate and causing all the problems. Although the media certainly works overtime to make people believe that, while minimizing and/or outright ignoring anything done by them.

  70. Right now I'd bet against this happening the way he reported it. But grindr seems unlikely to me too, just too complicated a story. Far more likely he was mixed up in something and it came back on him.

    ReplyDelete
  71. In addition to not letting the cops examine his phone - the argument being he might have personal photos, etc. on it - Jussie is also refusing to give the cops access to his phone records, which would show where he was at what time.

Relevant to the case, since he says he was walking down the street talking to his manager at the time of the incident.

He’s not making it easy for the cops to collect evidence and make an arrest.

    ReplyDelete
  72. I don't think people are saying a crime didn't happen, at least I'm not. I have no idea what happened. However, I am saying that that story originally told seems highly and increasingly improbable. And designed to further divide and inflame people who already hate one another way too much.

    Not constructive.

If this guy made up the "hate crime" stuff, he should face consequences. Not that he will, though.

    ReplyDelete
  73. These hoaxes happen all the time, like all the time. The reason you don't hear about them getting busted is that no media outlet wants to proclaim that they got fooled and are possibly untrustworthy sources of information. At best they'll put a little article on the bottom of the page.
Doesn't matter though, they already got their days of shouting Atrocity!Atrocity! out of it, they can just move on to the next thing.

    ReplyDelete
  74. Maybe Jussie showed up to get f*cked by a white guy, while he was pulling his pants down to his ankles the other guy pushed him over and took his wallet.
When celebrity African American men can't safely meet strangers in the streets of Chicago for anonymous butt sex, you know the whole system is broken. ;)

    ReplyDelete
  75. The reason he probably wants to cover up the fact it is grindr or sex encounter, isn't because he's gay, it's because he has a boyfriend.

He could have met someone on Grindr, they recognized him and thought he would have a lot of money on him, so robbed him. he doesn't want boyfriend to know. seems like the most logical line from a to b.

    ReplyDelete
  76. So, in the middle of getting beat up, he can pull out his phone, unlock the phone, go into contacts, dial his manager, his manager picks up phone at 4 am, and is awake enough to make sense of what is being yelled on the other end of the line.

He calls his manager in the middle of being beat up and not 911.

All the while, the people beating him up don't go after his phone and let him make his call, when he could be calling the cops. sure.

    ReplyDelete
  77. All kinds of ways he could have had a bad/criminal encounter.

No excuse for making up a story to stir up more hate... if that's what he did.

    ReplyDelete

  88. @Wardrobe.

I actually do think he was attacked. And it was indeed 'unfortunate'.

But it does seem pretty obvious that he's lying about the attack.

There may be decent reasons for this , shame and embarrassment are both perfectly understandable.

But to lie about an actual assault for political or careerist ends is pretty despicable.

And what is far worse than that is that his lies ensure the actual culprits - some evil fuckers nl attacking innocent victims - are unlikely to be brought to justice because of his actions. Not only that but the chances of more attacks from those cunts are multiplied. Why not? No fucker is looking for them. Bring on the next poor sod who only wants a bit of fun or company for an hour or so. He might not be in any position to tell his account after they finish with him.

But why should this Jussie fella care, he's got what he wants, he's being lauded as some sort of martyr and got few digs in at the establishment's current bete noir. He's quids in.

    1. We simply do not know that he’s lying about the racist and homophobic language, or the maga comment. If it is a Grindr hook up or something else, that doesn’t mean the attacker(s) didn’t use hate speech. What’s your basis for assuming he’s lying for political and careerist reasons? We don’t know that. All that’s been said officially (that I’ve seen anyway) is that the police haven’t found footage of an attack.

As for this bit “the actual culprits... are unlikely to be brought to justice because of his actions.”
I’m sorry, but I think this is unfair. You obviously disagree with this, but we counsel rape, assault and abuse victims that they are not personally responsible for stopping perpetrators offending again. Violent and sexual crime is traumatic enough, and so is reporting to the police and going to court. It’s a victim’s choice to report & give evidence. I’d love to say that all victims should, but the criminal justice system treats victims very poorly. Unfortunately, police, even the most well-meaning ones, can compound trauma and treat victims like they’re the criminals.

  89. @Wardrobe, here's an example, there's a difference between concealing embarrassing parts about a home burglary vs claiming they burned a cross on the front lawn.

  91. What I want to know is where did the rope come from if there was no attack? I think something went down. Maybe it was racially motivated judging by the noose. But he’s definitely hiding something and I agree, that something is probably an attempted hook up gone wrong that he doesn’t want in the media. Also maybe he didn’t want to go with the police because he doesn’t trust them. I know many black people that feel like cops target them and will find any excuse to shoot or harass.

  92. I live on lower east north water street which is a block from the entrance to the tunnel where the attack supposedly occurred. Above this part of the tunnel are the NBC Chicago offices and several hotels. All of the loading docks for these buildings are under there which have heavy security 24/7, not to mention cameras literally everywhere..

Jussie looking for dates on Grindr. For people saying "he's already out". Yes, he's already out and tolerated on the black centric show, barely tolerated. It would have been the end of him if it came out he had a Grindr date gone awry.
Grindr is not long for the app world. There are so many scammers and Grindr's method of reporting them does not work. They don't seem to care. The latest scam is older very attractive men looking for young guys to be their "sugar baby". They then tell the young guy they will pay off his debt, all Daddy needs is boy's bank information. Can you imagine? Scamming some kid who thinks he's found the rich man of his dreams? How low can they go? Scammers are always running one thing or another at Grindr, it's constant. The app owners have to know about it.
I don't really believe the Jussie thing will hurt them though. He's going to milk the racist attack story until the bitter end. Chicago police should sue him for making a false report. The other possibility is that somebody gave some guys Jussie's address and said "he's into rough public sex, when he fights you don't take no for an answer, he's into that" It would not be the first time that had happened on Grindr. Of course here's another opportunity we could be addressing real issues but it's just turned into a race-baiting farce.

I can understand not trusting the police either. Look what just happened in Houston. Plainclothes cops bust into an old couple's house, shoot and kill their dog, then kill both the man and woman when they are defending themselves against what they believe are home intruders.
Turns out based on false tip. The news saying the couple were drug cartel heroin dealers, but every neighbor says that's bullshit, people who have known the couple for 20+ years.
Just be careful and cautious and don't trust any situation.

  98. @Wardrobe: The issue is that he DID call the police (albeit almost 40 minutes later...hmmmm, wondering what he and his manager were discussing during that delay), reported the incident, but then refused to give the police access to his phone or phone records. Since this is an integral piece of evidence to solving this case, he is basically obstructing justice, and delaying the possibility of a perpetrator being found. Perhaps he wants it that way?

  99. There's a lot of confusing the general with the specific going on in this thread.

Yes, many people misuse Grindr for crime. Yes, there are some violent racists out there and nasty trade of every color. Yes, there are some bad cops (although Houston is an unfortunate example since 4 cops got shot there this week). And yes, all sexual assault victims deserve love and support.

    That's the general.

The specific - this case - is that Jussie Smollett's story makes no sense and never has.

Whatever happened that night, it isn't what he told the cops, which is why he appears to be less than helpful in helping them solve the case.

He's doing his hero's tour now - he's playing in LA tonight, to rapturous applause I'm sure.

  106. He could have perfectly legitimate reasons for not wanting to turn over his phone. Have you MET the Chicago PD? Have you not heard the stories of how they treat black people? The federal courts have just taken control of the department due to its corruption and abuse. That phone may have massive amounts of personal info not the least bit relevant to the attack that Smollett would prefer to be private, that the CPD does not browse. I would give him every benefit of the doubt here, if its his word against the CPD.

  109. So let me get this straight... Jussie was HIGH AS FUCK on whatever drug of his choice... he gets horny and goes looking for white dick on GRINDR for rough sex. He meets a dude, does drugs and the dude screws him 7 days from Sunday with a rope around his neck JUST LIKE JUSSIE ASKED FOR. After sex, Jussie starts coming down from the coke and realizes white boy got a little rougher than expected. He then LIES about all this saying he was attacked.... SO IT WAS JUST A DRUG FUELED VIOLENT FUCK-A-THON. Why is anyone STILL thinking he was assaulted?

    ReplyDelete
  110. OK so basically from what I'm reading here the skepticism is because he didn't want to turn over his phone. And from they're we're spinning off into storylines about how he was high as a kite and engaging in dangerous sex hookups with strangers involving ropes and also this is a false flag operation against Trump. Yeah, I see your point: That does sound more plausible than his actual story he reported to the police!

But maybe before we go further we should consider a couple of other facts. Like the fact that apparently he did agree to turn over his phone records, in fact, and is doing so. And that a racist and homophobic letter addressed to Smollett was delivered a week earlier to his studio, which Chicago PD also said they had then sent on to the FBI.

I mean, do facts matter? One wonders. It's so much more fun to create fantasies out of whole cloth. smdh

  111. Carolyn, here's today's TMZ piece I assume you are referring to re: the phone records:

"A Chicago police official had said Jussie refused to turn over both the phone and records. We're told Smollett has already said he will provide the records, and is in the process of gathering them. "

Process of gathering them? It literally takes 60 seconds. You export your phone's call logs or you authorize your provider to hand them over. Done.

When you take 3 or more days to "gather them", you're up to something else.

  112. Facts only matter when they confirm your biases. Let’s not pretend that they matter any other time. For either “side” of the political spectrum. But the facts are, that pretty much ALL of these “hate crimes” are made up. And since this sounds as ham fisted and hackneyed as any shitty Hollywood script about “eeeevil white raycisssssts”, I’m gonna call BS.

  113. Every time I get jumped by violent thugs I call my manager. We chat for a while, then after the call my manager -- who heard me being beaten -- doesn't call 911.

  114. This really has devolved into really ugly comments all around. When there are holes in any story, speculation naturally occurs, and it can wander in every direction until course-corrected by fact. questions don't equate to being anti-victim or having an agenda! Whenever one of these high-profile cases comes along, I often think what my odd ways and habits would look like from outside analysis. Hope i never know! That being said...

I do find it odd that after attack, he walks into building, past security, with rope around neck, and apparently kept it on for the over forty minutes before speaking to police or seeking treatment. Why not mention to building security? Not knowing what the hell was thrown on me is what would have had me on 911 and in ER ASAP, let alone broken ribs, etc.

Chief of police was on news this morning being very supportive of Jussie, and saying now cooperating about phone. Chicago Police have been in doghouse and humiliated on national stage far too often over past few years for the city to not have bent over backwards for a cast member of one of its most high profile shows. He was a celebrity victim, not under arrest, so I don't believe distrust of police would be a factor. I

Chicago is a very diverse city of millions. That letter makes this all seem very personal, rather than just some hate crime thugs, who could attack any place, any time with easier chance for success. That is just opinion, does not imply attack didnt happen, does not imply slurs weren't hurled, and most certainly does not imply that any of this was deserved...just that it seems there's more to the story, more facts to come. Isnt escape into the hunt for hidden truths (as well as some fun tidbits) why most of us come here?

  115. He is a part of Hollywood. Probably has kiddie porn on his phone, so he wont turn it over.

    ReplyDelete
  116. Why would he be ashamed of using Grindr? He wouldn’t. He won’t hand over the phone because he planned the attack... so he could get a leading role in the play he read for earlier that day in NYC... he wanted to be more famous in that minute and a sympathetic victim.

  117. Just saw today that the police video shows him returning to his apartment still holding the Subway sandwich.

So he was brutally lynched and beaten but still managed to keep a tight hold on his meatball sub?
